The Race is on for the Inaugural Carnival Cup
Friday 25th July, 2016-St. George’s-
The race is on to determine the teams who will face off in the inaugural GFA
Carnival Cup to secure cash prizes and bragging rights.
The last mega Carnival event on Friday 12th
August at the Fond Playing Field,
St.Patrick’s will see the top two (2) Premier league teams based on points play each
other for the inaugural title.
With just one match to go before the Carnival break, St.John’s Sports are top of the
table with 10 points. They will face Chantimelle FC on Saturday at Chantimelle
with a win pushing them to 13 points and a sure place in the Carnival Cup .
Right on their heels is Paradise FC International who are on nine (9) points after
winning their three (3) matches thus far. They have to play two (2) matches before
the break. On Saturday, they will face Boca Juniors at the Fond Playing Field. Then
on Wednesday 3rd
August, they will come up against Mt. Rich FC at Plains. Two
wins will see Paradise FC shoot to the top of the rankings at 15 points and cement
their spot in the Carnival Cup.
In third place is Hurricanes SC is on six(6) points after playing four(4) matches.
Their last match is against Queen’s Park Rangers on Wednesday 3rd
August at
Queen’s Park. A win for them and losses for Paradise will see a tie on nine points.
Boca Juniors who have played three matches thus far this season have two (2)
remaining matches before the Carnival break. They will face Paradise FC on
Saturday at Fond then on August 3rd
they will play Chantimelle at Fond. Two wins
for them and losses for Paradise FC will see Boca Juniors on 10 points with a
chance to storm into the Carnival Cup.
The possibilities are very interesting as the GFA prepares to host the exciting
inaugural Carnival Cup which will also see the commissioning of the lights at Fond
Playing Field.
