Trainee Chemical Engineer
Designed process equipment and pipework that was used for plant modification to
reduce losses of Ammonium Nitrate during plant shutdown.
Designed a simple but accurate dipstick method for measuring coal reserves. This
improved coal supply for the boilers.

Developed and designed, with a team of other trainee chemical engineers, a method
for purging and capturing compressor oil from Ammonia storage spheres.
Modified a Microsoft Excel sheet to capture process data and accurately calculate
the process efficiency at each stage. The sheet is still in use.
Prepared weekly process efficiency data for the Projects Engineer for use in his
presentations to Senior Management.
Analysed process data from log sheets to check process inefficiencies and to
highlight areas that needed to be improved.
Reported to the Senior Projects Engineer under the Technical Services Department.
Project Experience
Worked on successful projects with different teams both at academic and industry level.
Coordinated a team of four in the design of a methane producing plant using
biodegradable municipal solid waste as raw material. Developed a prototype.
Designed a biological wastewater treatment plant for removing inorganic nitrogen.
Final year individual project which scored a distinction (75+ %).

increased the net profit by 0.8% over a five month period.
Prepared monthly sales and profit reports for presentation and for planning

Achievements
Awarded the NUST Book Price for best student in the department for the 2012 – 2013
academic year. The design project for Methane production using biodegradable MSW was
selected to represent the Chemical Engineering Department at the NUST Engineering
Students Awards Competitions (NESAC).
