1. Union Institute & University offers a three-term $7,500 living allowance stipend for honorably discharged Pell-eligible
veterans. The stipend is a subsidy to match the VA MHA received by distance education students. This funding
makes the use of VA benefits at Union Institute & University comparable to use at a residential college. The stipend
assistance is available for three full-time semesters during the first year of the program and applies to bachelors,
masters and doctoral programs.

Requirements
Applicants must:
1. Reside in Ohio, Kentucky or Indiana.
2. Have Chapter 33 entitlement for VA education benefits.
3. Provide a DD Form 214 – Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.
4. Have military experience culminating in an honorable discharge.
5. Be low income or unemployed (Pell Grant eligible using FAFSA standards).
6. Be accepted and enrolled full-time in a Union Institute & University degree
program.
7. Enter with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
8. Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA at Union.
9. Maintain full-time status at Union.
10. Provide VA Form 22-1995 Change of Program or Place of Training if VA
educational benefits were used at prior colleges or universities.
11. Meet weekly with the Veterans Service Coordinator, and participate in all
components of the academic program.
