As of February 6, the Knicks were last place in the NBA with a win-
loss record of 10-43. However, that same day, Forbes announced that
the Knicks were the league's most valuable franchise at an estimated
value of $4 billion. The Los Angeles Lakers ranked second on the list
with a valuation of $3.7 billion, while the Golden State Warriors ($3.5
billion), Chicago Bulls ($2.9 billion), and Boston Celtics ($2.8 billion)
rounded out the top five. Philadelphia experienced the most drastic
year-over-year increase; it was valued at $1.65 billion, compared to
$1.18 billion last year.

New York hasn't won a championship since 1973 and hasn't
been to the NBA Finals in 20 years, yet the team remains the
most valuable franchise in the league, and second-most
valuable professional sports team behind the Dallas Cowboys.
Its value increased 11 percent from last year due in part to a $1
billion renovation to its home stadium, Madison Square
Garden, in 2013. Yet, the Knicks' growth in value was actually at
a slower pace than the rest of the league; the average franchise
is now worth $1.9 billion, which represents an increase of 13
percent over last year.
