Charlie and I filmed our preliminary task in a large group but realized a smaller group would work better, allowing both of us to be hands-on with the camera. For editing, we broke off into our own small group and struggled at first with iMovie but eventually got the hang of it, with both of us participating in editing decisions. Though our sounds got accidentally deleted, the experience helped us understand what works best in a thriller film. Overall, working in a smaller group gave us more input and the editing experience prepared us better for our final project.

2. Filming
0 When filming we were in a larger group consisting of
Charlie, Robbie, Joe, Lennart, Calum and I.
0 We all had a say in what types of shot, angles and what we
want to be filmed.
0 Although not everyone got a chance to be hands on with
the camera as we had one member of the group that felt
they knew exactly what they were doing. This is why
Charlie and I thought a smaller group would be better for
us both.
0 This has made Charlie and I realise that when we are
filming our final thriller, we will both be able to be hands
on with the camera. Not letting one person do everything.

3. Editing
0 Charlie and I broke off into our own little group for editing. To start

off with we struggled a bit with iMovie, but when we got to grips
with it, it ended up to be pretty simple.
This meant that we both had the chance to be hands on with the
editing.
We were very pleased with the cut we made (at 23 seconds) as we
felt it fit in well.
We both had equal say in what kind of sounds we wanted, which
some how got deleted! We logged on to the computer after spending
ages on the sound to realise it had all been deleted. With no time left
to put it back in we had to just leave it. I hope that with our final
thriller piece we don’t forget to save it (so annoying)!!
This gave us the chance to mess around will different types of
transitions which meant that although some of our film looks bad, it
has helped me to realise what looks good and what doesn’t.
It also means we know what things look good with a thriller film and
which doesn’t.

4. Overall
0 Overall, I think that the preliminary task has helped me to understand
the editing software better. Which means when editing our final thriller
piece it should be easier.
0 It has helped me to realise I don’t want to work in a large group (I’ve
now joined Charlie). Being in a smaller group will mean that I have more
say into the decisions.
0 The fact the sounds and music got deleted was very frustrating, in the
future I will remember to save my work more frequently!
