The document contains certificates certifying that Frederick Fuentespina completed four online courses offered by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) on resilient design with steel, steel innovations, designing constructable steel buildings, and the history of the K-factor in column design. Each course was 1-1.5 hours and included a post-course quiz that Frederick passed with a score of 70% or higher. The courses addressed resilience, innovations, constructability tips, and the development of the effective length factor in column design.

Resilient - You Can't Even Spell It Without Steel
on
7/22/2015
SPEAKERS: Charlie Carter
This recorded webinar explored resilience characteristics of steel buildings. It examined the normal
practices in the design and construction of steel buildings that create a natural, inherent - and free -
resilience. It also explored basic enhancements that can be made when a higher level of general
resilience is desired. Finally, performance-based design strategies for resilience in response to specific
hazards and threats were discussed.
Upon completion of the seminar, the attendee was given a ten question online quiz based on information
given in the seminar and he/she passed with a score of 70% or higher.

SteelDay 2014: Innovations in Steel
on
7/25/2015
SPEAKERS: Tabitha Stine
This recorded presentation demonstrated how recent steel industry innovations allow engineers and
architects to easily express their design concepts and overcome client serviceability concerns. Topics
included incorporating low floor-to-floor height systems, long span solutions, the current supply chain
and market conditions impacting the construction industry. The speaker also presented how to utilize
Building Information Modeling (BIM) for shop drawing review, innovative connection methods, modular
systems, how to best apply the requirements of AESS and sustainability concerns.
Upon completion of the seminar, the attendee was given a ten question online quiz based on information
given in the seminar and he/she passed with a score of 70% or higher.

50 Tips on Designing Constructable Steel Buildings
on
7/25/2015
SPEAKERS: Cliff Schwinger
This presentation reviewed 50 practical and easy-to-implement tips that designers can use to improve
constructability and reduce the cost of steel-framed building structures. Illustrations and examples
comparing constructable and "constructability challenged" details were used to show how seemingly little
changes in connection details and framing configurations significantly improve constructability and reduce
cost. Attendees learned how to identify and avoid common constructability problems.
Upon completion of the seminar, the attendee was given a ten question online quiz based on information
given in the seminar and he/she passed with a score of 70% or higher.

The Life of the K Factor
on
7/25/2015
SPEAKERS: Charlie Carter
There was a time, long ago, in a galaxy not far away, that columns were designed for length L without
K. Then, in the early 60s, the now-familiar K-factor was codified; over the many decades since, it came
to seem as if it always had existed. And now we have methods of design by which columns can be
designed for KL=L again. This seminar explored the origins and development of K, the effective length
factor, and why it often can now be taken equal to 1.
Upon completion of the seminar, the attendee was given a ten question online quiz based on information
given in the seminar and he/she passed with a score of 70% or higher.
