fter much laziness and deliberation of a long time, finally, we are going
to launch our first-ever campus magazine. In the name of Almighty, it is
hoped to ever shine and progress. “The Thirst”, as ever needs a sufficient
supplement and we have tried our best, besides credit goes to all our contributors.
It is very kind of all the teachers who awarded their valuable time. A vibrant escort
as we come to end, was beyond our expectations.
It is a very good experience of life to be at a University like Quaid-e-Awam Uni-
versity of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah and it is hoped that
everyone be pleased after going through our colored pages. Open armed welcome
for the new comers and best wishes for a bright wishes for a bright future to our
outgoing senior fellows.
“Culture is the widening of the mind and spirits,” as rightly said, was equally ob-
served and evident from the cheerful clusters of students on Cultural day marked
on 29th of November. Lets make a drift that we will eventually make Sindh great-
er again.
Any suggestion for our work is more than welcome. Signing off with the best
wishes.

CULTURE OF SINDH
An Overview of Culture of Sindh
Culture of Sindh has its firm roots in Indus Valley Civilization. The most of the surface area of Sindh is cov-
ered by Deserts and various natural resources like forests, rivers, lakes, streams, etc. Arabian Sea encloses its
boundaries and is an efficient source of fishing and shipping. in the local climate it has been observed that Sin-
dhis' have the language, custom, and tradition that is much different from other neighboring regions.
Historical Background
The Sindhi culture possesses its existence for very long. Archeological research in late 19th
century and early
20th
century showed that the social life, culture and religion, tradition, traditional arts and crafts, agricultural
practices and other facts of social life belong to very initial stages of human life.
Archeological Discoveries
Sindh has a lot of archeological discoveries, the most ancient ones are:
1. Moen-jo-Daro
Sir John Marshal, while excavation of
Moen Jo Daro, had forecasted that it
seems, there was a well civilized city
and after detailed study, it was revealed
that this civilization is about 5000 years
old. It was the time of 3000 BC, when
Sindhi Culture was at its peak in Indus
Valley Civilization.
2. Rani Kot Fort
Rani Kot Fort is considered
as landmark of Indus Valley
Civilization. It is the world’s
largest fort with its walls ex-
tending up to 32 kilometers.
In comparison with “Great
wall of China”, it is called as
“Second wall of China”

Language, Poetry and Music
Sindhi language is one of the most ancient and rich language. Many writers have contributed a lot in various
forms of literature like prose and poetry. Sindhi is the first Asian language, in which The Holy Quran was
translated in 9th century ( some books prefer it to be 8th century). Poetry is the beauty of Sindhi language. Its
first poet was Qazi Qadan and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast, Ustad Bukhari and Sheikh Ayaz are
the well-known in the field of Sindhi Poetry. When this poetry is composed with Sindhi Music, having a lot of
varieties and uniqueness, it becomes soul soothing.
Cultural Games
Likewise other nations, Sindhis’ has their most famous and amazing game “MALAKHRO”. Also, Wanjh
Watti, Marble Game, Hopscotch and Beelharo are the cultural games.
Cultural Character
Sindhi Culture is a constantly progressive culture, yet having various difficulties and hardles at extreme, it has
survived and it could also be beneficial for the whole world as it promotes brotherhood, sympathy, tolerance,
hospitality, courage, honor for women, and non-violent life. Sindhi people are kind by nature, as Jauna
Dakshiniya says: “Elegant with a lovely, soft, and slow gait, they are fond of art of Gandharvas, and full affec-
tion towards their homeland.
Ekta Day
On the first Sunday of December every year, EKTA DAY OR SINDHI CULTURAL DAY is celebrated. On
the auspicious day, all the Sindhis wear traditional dresses, cultural cap called as TOPI and AJRAK to make
this day memorable and pay their love and affection towards their culture. All the political, religious, social
organization, schools, colleges, universities organize individual events like musical nights, literary gathering
and much more to mark the event. Basically, it is celebrated to display solitary among the nation. This was cel-
ebrated firstly on December 6, 2016, when one of the most known Pakistani anchor person, Dr. Shahid
Masood criticized the ex-president of Pakistan, Mr., Asif Ali Zardari, on wearing the Sindhi Topi on his for-
eign tours. Sindhi people along with the great efforts of Sindhi media, condemned and celebrated the cultural
day reminding others that Sindhis can not bear even a single word against their culture and customs.

Q.U.E.S.T- An Unappreciated Paradise in Sindh, Pakistan
Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology Nawabshah (Q.U.E.S.T).
On 7th August 1996, MUCET was promoted to the level of University through an Ordinance and later an Act
of Sindh Assembly and named as “Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology
(Q.U.E.S.T)”, Nawabshah. Q.U.E.S.T is accredited with Higher Education Commission and Pakistan
Engineering Council. Quaid-e-Awam is one of the leading Engineering University not only at the provincial
level but at the national level too, the graduates of Q.U.E.S.T are employed in the diverse government and
privately maintained organization and they are also working at international level. Here readers might ponder
what is in point of fact here, So despite of being in the top universities of Pakistan Q.U.E.S.T is not receiving
as much appreciation as it should have.
Q.U.E.S.T campus is positioned just outside the city of Nawabshah nearby airport and is spread over an area of
457 acres on both sides of the main Sakrand road. Currently, it comprises of three academic sectors. Sector A
houses the departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering,
Institute of Information Technology the Administration Block and a well-established Computer Centre. Sector
B houses the departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy & Environment Engineering
and Basic Sciences & Related Studies. While all the laboratories of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineer-
ing and Workshop are placed in Sector C and the Central Library is sited between Sector B & C and the new
Modern Library is also going to be in operational in coming days. Two new buildings for Electronics and En-
ergy & Environment Engineering have been constructed amongst sectors A & B. There is a well-planned resi-
dential colony consisting of a substantial number of bungalows for the teachers and officers and quarters for
other employees.
Students of Q.U.E.S.T are having more endowment comparatively than other engineering universities, they
are almost desired in the field due to their technical awareness of the stuffs, furthermore Q.U.E.S.T has higher
number of P.H.D holder Faculty Members who are doing their best, ratio of students at work in the field of
Q.U.E.S.T is higher than the others, yet no one is accepting the fact that Q.U.E.S.T is not just like the other
universities but it is more. Here are few examples of what is being done by University, so far:

ESTEC 16 and 17:
Social accomplishments are conjoint part of any university but the
students of Q.U.E.S.T arranged a Conference named “Engineering
Science and Technology Enhancement Conference (ESTEC)”
Phase-I and II, which was the absolutely a new idea not ever orga-
nized previously by other universities but Q.U.E.S.T, with moto “To
reduce the gap between industry and academia”.
In most of the universities a new idea and Conference is rarely implemented and systemized but the Q.U.E.S.T
students are reinvigorated to do innovative things and convey new ideas like this, and they make the difference
in sense of how effectively we work together as a team for greater good. The ESTEC in its three days also had
the Project and Poster exhibition for the students to demonstrate out the talent they retain through Project and
Poster Exhibition. In which not only the students of campus were involved but the Ambassador’s from diverse
universities crossways of Pakistan joined and was concluded with musical night and the tour to historical plac-
es of Sindh on third day flourishing the new idea in the environment.
QUEST MUN:
One of the recognized event Model United Nation is not new for Q.U.E.S.T,
but it is organized every single year in the Campus for the students to partake,
dig out their concealed potentials and fight their way for what is right and what
need to be done. Every time the participant number increases with more poten-
tial and with a thirst for change
IEEE QUEST Chapter:
As we recognize the standards of world so the most enti-
tled one organization “Institute of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering (IEEE)” its branch is working in the
Q.U.E.S.T, for their corresponding departments encompassed.
There is more aptitude in the undergraduates of Q.U.E.S.T
than anybody else does. As the Electrical Power necessity is
increasing so the solution for substitute energy are being rum-
maged out and made feasible to whatsoever extent they could
be so recently CEO of “Alternative Energy Development
Board (AEDB)” attended the workshop of
“Increasing Demand and Use of Renewable Energy Sources” at
Q.U.E.S.T. These were the few illustrations that what actually is in
Q.U.E.S.T, but the complete information would be bulky one for
the readers. Here the point of significance is that university has
much more potential and it has provided this Country and Nation a
great number of engineers, who are working to their highest for the
nation’s future, we must change the angle to look for what is reality
because even with both eyes open, we can see half of the picture
so, The Q.U.E.S.T is not just the like other universities but it is dis-
tinct and more important than any of the engineering university
working in Pakistan.

BECOMING EPITOME OF SUCCESS
SYED ARSLAN ALI SHAH
16el65@quest.edu.pk
Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T
Adefinition of Success can be presumed as ‘an achievement of something that you’ve been trying to
do.’ In short, it’s a never ending journey towards better evolvement of oneself. It’s a voyage full of
hurdles, and storms waiting to be
welcomed. It’s an indescribable never lasting endeavor filled with the tingle of excitement about you do and
have to do. It requires patience, persistence, perseverance, determination and dedication.
In our entire life, we try to be in the center of attention. We adore being the one in spotlight, and endeavor to
grab as much credit as we can. It is in our enigmatic human essence, to always stay ahead, progress and
evolve. That's the reason that the only thing we fear is, not being able to cope with others, which in fact is
something we can't resolve. But why is it so significant to admire and see the real potential within ourselves?
Let us observe an exemplary man of figure, Thomas Alva Edison. An outclass inventor with record number of
1093 patents! It is often said that
it took him almost 1000 attempts
to simply invent a subtle light
bulb. And when a reporter asked,
"How did it feel to fail 1,000
times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t
fail 1,000 times. The light bulb
was an invention with 1,000
steps."
“…invention with 1000 steps.” It
is remarkable to witness his
‘will’ and ‘wit’.
How on earth could someone re-
ally astute that level of positivity
and optimism with such efferves-
cence?
It is not simply everyone’s cup of
tea to acquire the wisdom and
sagacity of that caliber of Edison,
Einstein, Tesla or Newton etc. It
requires proper observation and assessment to actually see beyond our gasp. From my limited perspective, it
turns out that there is something that those winning failures do something distinctively different and much bet-
ter than the average ones, which help them to become the odd one out. Some few features are enlisted below,
that were found to be the key factors in achieving one’s goals.
Never give up:
No matter how worse the odds and adversities are, you can’t accept the defeat. You just CAN’T. Format and
erase the complete existence of the word “give up” from your mental memory. Because failure is an option,
but giving up is not. The day you stopped trying is the day you surrendered, and believe me, abandoning is
something that only a coward attempts. If you can’t go all the way, then why go at all? Explore out every bit
left in you and without any fact, you can achieve wonders.
9
Limit your procrastination:
Notice that I quoted, “Limit your procras-
tination” instead of “Never procrastinate”,
because it is absurd to assume a being
who doesn’t procrastinate. You do pro-
crastinate and you will, because every in-
dividual does. Now, what stands out is
how less you procrastinate. Establish the
roots of pro-activeness in your DNA. And
remember, there is no tomorrow. Whatev-
er it is, it needs to be started today. It
doesn’t matter how lethargic the progress
goes on. Bear in mind that slow and
steady always wins the race.
Avoid skepticism:
Once you have opted for your goal,
there’s no going back. And when you’re at
a point of no return, there should never be a room for skepticism. Not just because it’s not in your favor but
also that it’s not even a possibility. If you don’t have a faith on whatever you’re up to, then how will you be
ready to confront the challenging odds? And when you’ve come so far, you can’t afford doubts; else you’ll
have to pay its price. Be confident and create your own flow.
Welcome criticism:
You should happily greet the disapprovals from the society, notwithstanding the fact that those criticisms
won’t be thrown at you for your betterment, but it’s up to you to convert every bit of harsh response and mold
it into your benefit. People can’t bear the change. They will always point a finger at you just for their self-
satisfaction and temporary entertainment. I’ll here quote Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. He says:
“If you are irritated by every rub, then how will your mirror be polished?”
Self-Belief:
Steve Jobs said, “Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” This
is the one of most salient and foremost thing a person could have. No one can tell you what to do, how to do
and when to do, until and unless you decide it yourself. All the philosophy and human evaluation has come to
a single conclusion that whenever someone has somewhere, committed to accomplish something, then there is
no force found to be stopping him. But there will be hurdles. There will be difficulties and hardships, waiting
to be welcomed. But you know what? These obstacles are like guests, they come and stay for a while, but they
are destined to go away. They have never remained long and will never in future. Even Holy Quran says,
“Verily, with every difficulty, there is relief.” Quran (94:5)
So, when the God himself has made you this promise and assured you, then how do we humans dare to disa-
vow such pledge? After every dusk, there’s always a dawn. After every storm, there’s a rainbow. After every
darkness, there’s a light. Just what you have to do is self-belief. Believe that you are made to conquer the
world. Believe that you are the master of your fate and captain of your soul. Believe that it is not over until you
say it’s over. Believe that it’s never late. Everything is waiting for you to be strived for. But bear in mind that
Success is never served on a platter; one has to sweat, venture and sacrifice to achieve it. And only self-belief
will make you confident that your victory is self-assured.
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you
win."- Mahatma Gandhi

CSS: THE GAME OF COMMITMENT, SACRIFICE & SAFETY.
ASAD KHAN MALOKHANI
asadahmed_ahmed@yahoo.com
Whenever a baby is born he/she enters the "game of life", an easiest game for the children of those
who have won it and as a reward they have the luxuries of life (upper class of the society), and a hard-
er game for those who haven't scored good (middle class of the society), and a hardest game for those
who haven't played well at all (lower class of the society). The only thing which fails a player in the
game of life is his dedication towards it.
Every game has its own rules and regulations some of the most important rules of the game of life are
commitment and sacrifice and as a reward, you get safety for your future. There are many ways to win
the game of life, either you would be having a luxurious life already, then this game is so easy for you
or you must win it through specific rules. People reading this article may think of me as a person just
focusing on the luxury of life and money. I am right at my point that life is too short, and we should
enjoy it in a luxurious way. Everyone has a right to live a grand and magnificent life. In Pakistan, such
life is only available for three kinds of people, Politicians, Businessmen, and Bureaucrats. The first
two choices are much harder to achieve in comparison to the third one. The bureaucracy offers us a
well and good life.
CSS is like a blessing for the people of Pakistan. And you must work hard for getting that blessing.
The rules of winning this game are very simpler and that are:
1. Commitment
2. Sacrifice
3. Safety
1. Commitment.
The word commitment means the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. And that
is the most important thing for winning this game. Once you have a commitment to your goals then
whole the world will help you to achieve those. Commitment not only brings your all intentions, ideas
and innovations work together for your purpose, but it also completes your dreams. CSS needs you to
be committed towards its requirements that are making your mind to commit all your work in a pas-
sionate and professional way, which is sufficient for passing an exam. CSS is just a little exam when
we talk about the thing "Commitment" it helped Newton to discover the laws of motion, it enhanced
Einstein to imagine the things he called " Thought Experiments" which letter became the foundation
of the most significant theory of Modern physics which revolutionized the way we see the universe,"
Special and general theory of relativity" .
Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T
11
There are many ways to make your commitments stronger and sustainable, prime and powerful, emphasized
and esteemed, but a very useful and easiest way is examining people around you working for hours and hours,
days and nights just for earning the bread and commitment is the thing which let them do so. The commitments
you make should be the stubborn and never-ending habit.
The meaning of the word is to give up something which is valued by us to get something more valuable. Eve-
rything needs a sacrifice to achieve it, and we must sacrifice something to get another thing. The most useful
sacrifice for achieving something is time. Time is a basic need for a player to win any game. We see people
around us working for days and nights just for getting what
they want. The right use of time lets you get anything in
life.
CSS also needs time to achieve it if you just give your quar-
ter day to the studies and preparation of the exam then I
guarantee you that you can achieve highest marks to get the
desired service. We revolve around the space of time. If
there isn't any tool left for winning, then there is a way to
winning the game and that is the fair usage of time.
Time can change your future. It was time who made Bill
Gates the richest person on the earth. It was time who made
Einstein a great scientist of all times. God has created the
universe and assigned time to drive it. Time is the best em-
ploy of nature. The fair utilization of time will always give
you success. The great names we listen today are only made
great just because of the fair utilization of their time at a
right place and things.
"Time is the best tool to win any game" (ACG’s Thoughts)
Safety
The word safety means "the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger". The meaning
simply states that being safe is a very important thing in life. Anybody has no idea how long they would live
because death is constant, and everybody will taste it. A person in game of Life plays the whole game just be-
cause of one reason and that is safety (security), the safety of their future, the safety of their good income, the
safety of their family, the safety of their children, and the safety of their coming generations that is how a re-
sponsible person thinks about the family, and CSS is the tool which may provide us all the safeties stated
above. Becoming a CSS Officer not only makes your personality, but it differences your character, quality, and
temper from others. Many of the people must be thinking that I have very low hopes, I am just writing about an
exam, and focusing little things like CSS. But I guarantee you if once you become a bureaucrat then it’s fanta-
sies will be disclosed to you and you will want your loving ones to enjoy the same manners. A middle or a
poor class person can't think of being either a great businessman or an industrialist then there remains the last
hope for them to win the game of Life and that is CSS.
"Safety is a reward every player wants from a game" (ACG Thoughts)

LESA MARIA TRIYANTI
Student of English Education, Mataram University, Indonesia
lesamariatriyanti2@gmail.com
Nowadays, the opportunity of having a baby is inevitable. Every couple who is not fertile is able to have chil-
dren by surrogacy. Surrogacy is the activity of lending womb to spouses to have a baby which is done by a
woman called as surrogate mother. As matter of fact, many people have different point of views regarding
how the practice of surrogacy is. Some people think that is bad whereas some people feel it is not a matter
to have a baby by surrogacy. This essay will examine both sides of an issue.
First, some people think that the practice of surrogacy is illegal. Some countries restrict or regulate surroga-
cy and its consequences. For instance, Finland is one of the most famous countries because of its education
system against the surrogacy system. Surrogacy has been illegal since law amendment in 2007. Children
born abroad for Finnish parents by surrogacy will not be entitled to get Finnish Citizenship. As a result sever-
al things need to be considered when we want to do a surrogacy such as the condition of surrogate mother
or surrogate mother’s health. Some people think that surrogacy is same as practice of selling womb which
has very dangerous impacts to surrogate mother. If the process of pregnancy is not successful, it will lead to
death. That is why some people consider that surrogacy is a risk practice which can cause death to a surro-
gate mother.
Second, the practice of surrogacy is not ethics. Numerous ways to help others yet sacrificing ourselves is not
good. A couple who wants to have a baby does not need to hire a surrogate mother. They are capable of
adopting a little child in particular foundation. Hiring woman’s womb to carry their offspring does not have a
certain kind of feelings. A surrogate mother who was bearing a child during nine months will give him/her to
real parents, it is not easy as it seems, a surrogate mother has strong affection towards the baby and it is
same as separating the baby with his/her mom.
SURROGACY: good or bad?
13
Third, some religions preach that surrogacy is a
form of adultery. Religions naturally have views on pro-
creation, because the spiritual laws guiding human life are
their domain. Religious views on surrogacy vary from
complete prohibition to acceptance. According to Christi-
anity, the Catholic Catechism states that a child is a gift,
not a right and surrogacy is “gravely immoral” because a
third party comes between the “one flesh” principle that
unites husband and wife. Judaism also has a spectrum of
attitudes toward surrogacy. Orthodox and conservative rabbis take the view that using another person as incu-
bator is degrading and devalues. Islam also has divided views on infertility treatments and surrogacy. Accord-
ing to the Sharia law, some Muslim scholars’ claim it is akin to adultery, because it involves a woman who is
not the husband legally carrying an egg fertilized by him.
On the other hand, some people take view that surrogacy is one of the best ways to have children for
infertile couple. Surrogacy is not always bad and immoral. By doing surrogacy, a surrogate mother with an
agreement each other are able to assist couple who have dream to have children can come true. A surrogate
mother has experiences meet with many people, share love and happiness. In addition to this, the monetary of
being a surrogate mother are significant enough to be
life-changing, the emotional and psychological benefits
are truly transformative. Even, there is a website which
provides circle for women who want to work as surro-
gate mothers called circlesurrogacy.com. This website
provides many benefits such as life insurance policy.
However, surrogacy will merely lead to big risk toward
the surrogate mother. Not only can cause surrogate
mother’s health but also social influences that people
around her will look at her as person who sells her
womb.
To sum it up, this issue is serious one because it affects the way people think. Every couple wants to
have children without any obstacles. In my view that surrogacy is one way to assist people who want to have
baby, however we must take step to decide whether or not to do surrogacy and consider whether the surroga-
cy is allowed in the country where we live.

Versions of Religion
Treading the path, found by birth
Peace and harmony, as it highlights
Then comes a storm, there
Making a new path
Replacing my Pleasant way, my Religion
With delicate rays of thoughts
Promising fulfillment in death and enjoy
The new Religion looks cool
Easy, exotic and somehow rubbish
Comes with differ of
Many things, Religious Teachings
Indigenous Religion, a pleasant
Smile with Humanity at all
Warm accommodation for fellow
And kind at antagonism
I feel choked to death
Observing Religion’s new face
Killing innocent states legal
And unlawful seems awful
I used reviewing both
Each sings in same tune
Feel complex as result
Confused to take one.

P
ondering on the society, we would come to know that from home to an international politics, every-
one is under the shadow of distinction. All of us have group identities. We identify with that are like
us: from the same region: speaking the same language as we do, devotees of the same Guru, what
have you. There is nothing wrong or strange about that.
The problem start here when we perceive members of the same class as different to and less valuable than our
own group. Moreover, in some countries, especially beloved Pakistan, some people consider some of the casts
and races as the most “ignorant”, “lazy”, “dirty”, or just “different” from theirs, even following the same
school of thoughts.
As a Islamic Republic, under the outstanding teachings of Islam, Pakistan has Anti-discrimination law
stating in Article 25(1) that all the citizen are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of
law. However from the early 50’s till now and may be onwards, no one of the officials succeed to fulfil
the teaching of law.
Surfing on the Internet thoroughly, I was too much surprised to know that even top universities are
failed to make a single rule of anti-discrimination in their atmosphere. Most of the Institutions are
suffering from a cancer-like disease usually termed as GENDER DIFFERENCE, and that’s where
Discrimination starts. Most of the cases, staff provide special affection to the opposite sex and are found
to be a part of harassment.
Beside harassment there are many other discriminations that really threaten the mind of a common
man, like ethnicity, race, color, religion, creed, gender, age, political benefits, family, status etc. It is not
even possible to have a thriving and productive learning, working and living environment in the
presence of Discrimination.
DISCRIMINATION: more common than you think.
16
Looking at the class, we come to know, most of the teachers, just try focusing on first two bench-
es, without knowing the hidden potential of the backbenchers. Let’s think, how many students can
sit on the first benches, hardly 20 students, then where should others go? A teacher is supposed to
teach whole the class despite just focusing on the fraction. Even in the first lecture of the session,
when no one is favorite to teacher, teacher used to have a hardly conversation with the student sit-
ting on the third or fourth bench. Most of the time, students need encouragement so that they may
fulfil their dreams that their eyes have, but discriminated environment never allow them to reach
the skies.
Recalling the History, there was a man called EDISON. His teacher wrote to his mother that Edi-
son is Addled and would not be allowed in school anymore, when Edison asked her mother, what
the letter said, she pretended to read it aloud, stating that he could not go to school because he was
a genius and “the school is too small for him”. That was the encouragement that bring Edison to
the heights of sky.
The real teacher is supposed to fulfil at least the responsibility to encourage his students, God
knows, may be that moment brighten his life and take him to the peak of success. Since there are
no formally designated forums to raise the voice against discrimination except gender discrimina-
tion therefore people suffering from such acts are unable to find any opportunity to report them.
There is a clear conclusion here, men like women, children or elderly people face discrimination.
Policies
are failed to formulate such a law that can provide an environment totally free from discrimina-
tion.
It can be noticed that some positive steps are taken in case of gender discrimination.
However, laws are not protective for most of the discriminations.

Literature is the diversified field of study in which the world is expressed in a philosophical tact depend-
ing upon the insights and mentality of an individual or some may say that it is the artistic merit which is
exposed through writing and reading genres like fiction, non-fiction, prose & poetry. This subject does not
witness any of the materialistic ideas rather it is based upon versatile ideas which are influencing and ef-
fective on a human nature. Not everyone is attracted towards literature but there is the particular clout of
people who are fond of reading, writing & watching creation based stuffs. The man of literature defines
everything in a differing and relevant way with each other or with a person this goes by personification in
the language of literature. Planet literally means here the circle and some amount of as many people at-
tracted to the literature. Practically no such planet exists except earth where the possibility of human resi-
dence is expected.
The poetic sentiments, heartily felt feelings and some other aspects belong to this field but are not mainly
accepted by the society and its constituent factors due to great isolation from field, this feeling of a person
feel like they are from a different planet so are we. Aristotle once said “The literature related people is the
abandoned character of a society”. Paying a critical attention to this statement we may say clear as crystal
that the society does not accept these people. I feel they refer a poet or a writer of deep thought to an alien
reached here from a different planet with a celestial source.
One may say exactly converse to what I referred but the literature really seems lonely and solitary planet
for idealists, there are several examples and epitomes to describe my connotation.
Literate people does not know how to face the real world and cope with world to snatch the rights, some
of them are with the mystic and monk’s thoughts. He
feels dire need of solitary and refrains from contributing
in conversations. Sometimes think that I am the only
one who is living on this planet-Earth or have been
dubbed here without my desire.
It is not that I am merging my note and tone with your
given statement but the same feelings are perceived not
only by me but other critics and writers on several
walks of life. It is so true that the realism clearly rejects
and abandons the literate lovers and devotees of great
and deep thoughts which is proved by international re-
search report.
The philosopher, critics and high profile thinker &
some mystics like Rumi, Plato, Kafka, Jean Paul Sar-
tre , Karen Armstrong, and such others who are of the
thought that literature is the exceptional place where
only rational persons and optimists inhabits.

Literature is a lonely Planet?
Aristotle once said:
“The literature
related people is the
abandoned
character
18
Plato like Aristotle thinks that “there is no room for poets in favorable states”. Philosophically
it compels to give attention to that thought of Plato. Emerson had once said for Plato that
“Plato is Philosophy & Philosophy is Plato” The statement of him was really worth mentioning
here in this regard.
People in this world which when seen of a matter prefer languages and the holy words but
they are not devoted to refer the spiritual meaning. “Namaz” really is the holy practice of Islam
which is the method of devotion and modesty towards God but literally this Arabic word
means “to bow down”. What a rational and artistic person think there is 0pc probability that a
person of real world thinks the same. Plato has further quoted that “the world where we live and takes
breath is not the real world but the imitation of an ideal world”. He considers all the literature exclud-
ed persons as imitators of the imitated world, he thinks that everything is derived from that imitated
realm. Plato has also deduced that poets being immoral are harmful for the well-being of a healthy so-
ciety. According to Plato “poets tell the greatest of the false hood for greatest of the beings
(gods)” (Ref: Plato’s Republic, Book II).
Rumi being a mystic has exalted and dignified the poets as the prophets. The thing that is thought by a
common person is totally different from what the literature lover think. YES! One can take the support
of literature to solace himself and to relieve from some not vanishing wounds the bandage of literature
will surely cover this.
Literature is the artistic field which is conferred to the creative minds and not everyone is capable of
holding the reins of this state which is literature. An individual’s life is solely a state where he fixes
and legislates the rules for spending his life where he is the authorized person and he is the judicial
head.

OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
Education is an apparatus which can construct
you and make you something. It is in charge
of many known researchers, innovators, spe-
cialists and so forth. It is a root to a productive tree.
Getting education is similarly critical to breathing
since education shows you how and what to do to get
by in this world. In any case, all the above lines look
only ambiguous ideas due to the present education
system. Right?
Current Education System is a botched up one where
we are tried based on our recollections, not insight. It
is an equivalent
word of serious pres-
sure which is being
given to the students.
We think by concen-
trating gigantic
books, we will be
fruitful, yet as a gen-
eral rule, we are not
going anyplace close
to progress. Rather
we are being topped
off by the futile data
which probably
won't work for us
later on. The field, in
which we are, should
just contain the
books which are
identified with it so
students don't get
confounded. But no,
students must take in
the historical back-
drop of Pakistan in
the field of Electrical
Engineering as
though students will utilize the ideas that individuals
utilized in 1900s to get fruitful. This general data may
be helpful yet it leaves students perplexed about what
they are doing in this current field.
University life is the last advance to continue to profi-
cient life. In universities, they train students about
how to make due in the professional environment with
other data related to the field. And yet they mentally
program the psyches of the students by filling the data
that probably won't be valid. Universities instruct us
that professional life is the most exceedingly terrible
period of the existence where you address huge diffi-
culties and individuals whom you don't care for how-
ever you need to work with them or for them. This
part is valid, the real life starts when one enters in the
expert life. But, rehashing these things and startling
the students isn't satisfactory. Students at that point
feel extremely uneasy and terrified to confront the ex-
pert life. Their attitude changes, technique changes,
inspiration changes, and in short they totally change
themselves out of dread. Therefore they lose certainty
to walk, talk, and carry on in the expert condition
however it tends to be defeated soon by investing
some energy.

One additional thing that universities instructs us that how and what should we do to fulfill our "BOSS." I
have a negative fixation on "BOSS". What would it be a good idea for us to do to make our boss fulfilled?
What would it be advisable for us to maintain a strategic distance from to keep boss glad? How to deal with a
troublesome boss? The most effective method to be under boss and so on. They just show students being the
workers of your boss and recall one thing "that place can just create hirelings where the reasoning is of the
worker". Rather they ought to show their students to be their own bosses. Everyone realizes how to carry on
under a boss yet not very many individuals realize how to end up a business person. Entrepreneurship is the
best thing yet our universities don't need us to be the best. They are constraining us from the ideas that can
really help us in getting achievement. Universities feed their students so much superfluous data and anticipate
that they will upchuck on papers in their exams. This so much unessential data makes up pressure. Students
come in pressure, they contemplate in pressure, they avoid their suppers in pressure, they turn out to be less
social in pressure and at last due to this pressure, whatever they ponder, they forget. Teachers restrict students
from cramming yet they are the person who educate cramming. Who will recall the date when a researcher
concocted his first syringe? This pressure mostly prompts fizzling the exam and after that students are being
chided by both their folks and instructors. Once in a while students submit suicides since they think they can't
do anything. Least would the world realize that students don't submit suicides, they are killed by the present
education system and the suicide rate in students has expanded is as yet going up.
The earth, in which we are living, is a revile where an innocent child of age 6 or 7 is offered 6 to 7 books to
study and convey a substantial load on his little shoulders. He is compelled to ponder and just examination
abandoning every one of the things he is keen on. The age in which he should play outside, deals with his
physical wellness and study, he regularly bound to complete one thing by his folks, Study. Imagine a scenario
where he doesn't have the enthusiasm for the subjects which are being instructed at the school. Imagine a sce-
nario to which his advantage is in painting. Imagine a scenario to which his advantage is in composing. Are
doctors and engineers everything? Isn't there some other calling other than doctors and engineers? The little
personalities of the youngsters are being filled by the data that just doctors and engineers are the professions.
Nothing is tantamount to them. Each and every other profession is second rate compared to them. Therefore
the personalities of the youngsters are occupied from painting, composing, photography, drawing, trade and
processing to simply medical and engineering. I salute those students who pick commerce and arts as their
majors on the grounds that according to the present reviled condition just those students who need to flee from
studies pick these however in their eyes everything has an esteem. Furthermore, each easily overlooked detail
do has an esteem. Education makes a student fruitful yet legitimate and Relevant Education makes a student
more than effective.
My fantasy education system is that when a youngster scopes to the age of 10, he ought to be given a year or
two where he ought to be shown each subject for instance, Math, English, Computer Science, Music, Arts and
so on. At that point he ought to be offered opportunity to pick a subject and for his remaining student life he
ought to be encouraged things identified with that specific subject as it were. Along these lines he will think
about his most loved field the odds of him to be fruitful will raise. Things that reason pressure in students
must be totally repudiated by the education system regardless of on the off chance that it incorporates exams.
Strife emerges that nobody will contemplate at that point if there will be no any exam. The nullification I will
give on this one is that the individual who wants to get the hang of anything won't require any exam. He will
figure out how to his fullest. Something else is that education ought to be free for all with the goal that every-
body can manage the cost. At last, I would just say that this present education system should be changed for
the lives of the students in light of the fact that as long as this framework stays, there will be setbacks or their
will be cases that nobody would need to see. Everybody ought to take a stab at this revile to be evacuated. An-
other thing, I am not against Education I am against current Education System.

LIVING IN THE PRESENT
We all have made our lives a living prison for our-
selves by overthinking on the useless things, we seem
to be free but our minds are locked with the continu-
ous battle of ideas and thinking about what we did and
what we will do, we must live in the present. Living in
the present means being aware and conscious of what
you are doing, feeling and thinking, at the present mo-
ment. It means shifting your attention to present mo-
ment and dealing with it effectively, instead of focus-
ing on the past or future. The past has gone away and
you cannot change it and the future is dependent on
the present, shaped by your current thoughts, feelings
and actions. True living occurs in the present moment,
the only moment exists at our side because nothing is
worth more than this day. One of my teacher uses to
say:
“Go in the past and learn from it don’t stay there
and work for the future by living in present”-Sir Dr.
Javed Ahmed Laghari
Living in the present moment helps you to avoid wor-
ries, fears and anxieties, and wasting your time on fu-
tile and negative thoughts. If you keep thinking about
the past, you allow all kinds of emotions and thoughts
to rise into your consciousness, affecting the way you
feel and think. Most often, such reminiscing disturbs
the mind and agitates it, which is the opposite of peace
of mind. It is the same with thinking about the future.
It is okay if you devote some time to thinking about it
and planning it, but if you just keep dwelling on it and
worrying about it, you are keeping peace of mind
away. We work for the better life, however in reality
the life is passing by in front of us, we don’t realize
and think about that, these family and friends we are
missing the joy of every single moment with them and
would realize in old age because our life is leading to
no where with stress and depression we keep on our-
selves by overthinking, we are responsible for it. The
best approach would be to direct your attention to the
present moment, to what you are doing and what is
happening around you at each moment. By occupying
your mind with the present moment, you keep your
mind busy, and don't make room for worries, anxie-
ties, fears or unpleasant memories. Learn from the
past and plan for the future, but don't dwell too much
on them. You cannot change the past and you cannot
yet live in the future. The only place where you can
live and act is in the present, We must realize that all
we ever have in our hand is the present moment.
Actually, what you do in the present affects your fu-
ture. Reliving past events in your mind and daydream-
ing about the past or the future, keep the mind busy
with an endless number of thoughts. However, if you
focus your mind on the present moment, you don't
make room in your mind for unnecessary and disturb-
ing thoughts or emotions. The past happened and is
over, so what is the use of reliving it? You lose peace
of mind if you constantly live in the past and think and
visualize events that have already happened. You also
gain nothing by worrying about the future. Living in
the present means that you direct your attention to
what is happening now, enjoying it, and making the
most of it. By focusing your mind on the present, you
don't have time or opportunity to wallow in useless
and negative thoughts and emotions relating to the
past or the future. Wake up to the present moment and
live in it.

THE LOST SMILE
Nur Aisyah Susyari
aisyah2701@gmail.com
Student at Institute Agama Islam Negeri Madura, East Java, Indonesia
S
mile, a little thing leads to a great life. Smile
is not only moving facial muscles, but also
mood movements. A memorable smile is
from the core of heart as a center of all auras and bodi-
ly conditions. A good heart drives everything in hu-
man beings to be good. Smiling is not only to make
people more attractive, but it can make the other peo-
ple do smiling too. So, they can share the happiness
each other. Smile is so easy to do. All people can do it
as a symbol of their expression. We can give smiles to
everyone we meet to keep
and increase our relationship.
That’s why, the smile is not
for adding a beauty on face
only. Based on Islamic reli-
gion, the smile is worship.
We will be rewarded for our
smile. It tells us how much
valuable the smile is. Unfor-
tunately, in this era, it’s hard
to fin that kind of smile. The
technology is covering this
issue, we couldn’t deny that
the technology has many ad-
vantages for our daily life.
Such as progress in accessing
information and media which
are supported by internet. Internet access can be done
by anyone, from young to old one. They can express
whatever they feel included the smiles. People can ex-
press their smiles through internet by using social me-
dia. There are many commonly social medias which
people use, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,
Whatsapp, etc. We can take Whatsapp as one of exam-
ple for this issue. As we know that Whatsapp provides
many features to ease the user in communicating.
They get used to use emoji to express their feeling.
There are many emoji which is provided by Whatsapp
included face emoji which most of them are smiling
emoji. People can choose one or more emoji to ex-
press their feeling. Anyways, no one will know if it’s a
real feeling or the fake one. The easier to use, the eas-
ier to be fake. Someone might send you smiling emoji,
but it can be a fake smile only. They must have their
own reason to do. It can be said that they don’t want
the other knows the real feeling they have at that time.
They might believe that they can solve it by their
selves, or you are not the right one to be told. In other
words, they might have
untellable problem. In
other case, people use
smiling emoji doesn’t
mean to express their
feeling, but as a compli-
ment for the words they
write on the messages.
Mostly, they only use
their favorite one to ex-
press nothing. There-
fore, we might call it as
a fake smile. But it’s
not right to be judged,
this matter is not a big
deal and no need to be
debated. Just consider it
as for fun. Don’t take it seriously. By the words above,
we can say that we really lost our smiles in font of so-
cial media. The more you spend your time for that
thing, the more you lost your smile. Because your fo-
cus will be on it only, you might ignore or at least for-
get your real life, as on social media you can talk with
your family and friends, so you don’t need to meet or
interact with them directly. It's true that the social me-
dia help us a lot, but how is our smile? When are we
going to use it? In this case, we might have lost our
smile.

Balochistan's turmoil and federation
From the very first day 27th March 1948 when Balo-
chistan joined Pakistan ,the plight of Baloch is ever
growing. Every new day brings some more pain and
sorrow for them. With each following day the situa-
tion turns bolt to blue. From burning villages to ab-
duction of men, women, children, elderly people or
looting the valuables and livestock from almost every
nook and corner of Balochistan has become a nasty
routine. Struggling for their rights and equality as per
the constitution, the Baloch Students Organization
(BSO) has played a vital role.
According to the International voice for Baloch
Missing Persons, 18,000 Balochs have gone missing
by January 2014. Among them, 2,000 were killed be-
tween 2001 and 2013. Furthermore, 463 people were
forcibly disappeared in Balochistan, out of whom, 157
were tortured to death in 2015 with bodies found
mutilated.
Most recently, Balochistan has lost a
young talent Shabir Baloch who was abducted on 24th
of October 2016 from Gwarkop Balochistan. The fam-
ily of missing Shabir met with Mr. Nasrullah , the
chair person of voice for Baloch Missing Person, to
gave him details of Shabir's abduction. The family
stated that Shabir was serving as the central Infor-
mation Secretary of BSO Azad until he was disap-
peared along with 26 other colleagues on 24th October
during an active military operation across areas along
the Turbat district.
24-year-old shabir was abducted, because
instead of enjoying his life as a youth he was spread-
ing awareness and raising voice against the injustice
and inhuman practices in Balochistan. Round about
two years have been passed but yet the Government
has neither took any notice nor showed any interest in
this regard.
Family of shabir Baloch has also been protesting for
the safe recovery of their beloved one. Shabir’s sister,
Seema Baloch has pleaded to judiciary and media to
help them out. Also, they urged, if Shabir is involved
in any kind of criminal offence, he must be produced
before Court to provide him a fair trial as guaranteed
by the constitution under article 10 A. The law
should take its due course.

Not only Shabir’s sister but there is also an other innocent daughter of Balochistan, Anssa Baloch , the sister
of Amir Baloch that is crying for immediate release of her brother who was abducted on 2nd February 2017.
The family of Amir Baloch stated that no one is ready to appease them. They asked that media is not high
lighting the issue . The family claimed that they are totally helpless as neither media nor any political source is
willing to cooperate with them. More than a year has been passed but yet nothing seems effective. They
pleaded to the governor of Balochistan ( Amanullah khan yasinzai), CM of Balochistan (Jam Mir Kamal
khan) and chief justice of Balochistan high court (Syeda Tahira Safdar) to take notice.
Recently there came a similar concern on screen that three Baloch women, Rozina, her two daughters, Asmat
and Hafeeza and other family members, were abducted from
Jhaoo, district Awaran. It is barbaric act of collective punish-
ment continuation of Baloch genocide. There are more than
five thousand cases in Balochistan regarding disappearances.
The people that have been targeted are mostly journalists,
students, teachers, political activists and lawyers, none of
them was anarchist. The list of those cases was submitted in
senate by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, who told chairman senate
that more than 40 year have been passed but still he couldn't
get the dead body of his brother. Article 8 to article 28 of the
1973 constitution describe the fundamental rights which are
guaranteed to all the citizens; but, unfortunately the Baloch brothers are deprived of them.
I ask from the international human rights organizations, who is responsible for all this?, why the humanity is
under red lights and when will this come to its end?.
We strongly appeal from the Pakistani Government and UNO to take notice, renovate the cases with honestly
in two shakes of lamb's tail without any political, national and ancestry difference and set a arbitration that
would specially be handled by either. Apposite steps should be taken for immediate release of abducted people
both in letter and spirit.

Pakistan's economy postmortem and dwindling south-Asia
After much uncertainty and crisis in the open market, PM I.Khan's recent trips to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
(KSA), and China have somehow put a new sigh of releif in our economy. Economy is the main agenda on
which our whole political system relies. In KSA PM Khan said that Pakistan will mediate in Yemen con-
flict .He was also a key-speaker at the KSA's future investment initiative conference under the theme of
"Dawn in the desert". While in China he assured president Xi of full baking to CPEC & regional connectivity.
Following those, in the next week he went to Malaysia.
What's Saudi loan exactly?
Kingdom granted a loan of $12bn; $3bn for the foreign exchange reserves and $3bn worth oil for three years
each, for which the MoU has been signed b/w Finance ministers Asad Umer and M.Abdul Jaddan. Hence, cur-
rently $6bn will be granted which will decrease the dollar rate in open market.
HOW PSX WORKS?
Pakistan stock exchange (PSX) Karachi is a place where all international and national firms and companies
invest their money. Whole the trade is carried out in the US Dollar. Let's learn how PSX works-suppose a
company named "Unilever" wants to extend its business to India but has not much money for that. Hence, it
will make partners in India say A,B,C and the company itself-total four i.e. company will sell its shares to the
partners. Suppose company sold it's share for 2,500 per partner and four partners hence total balance of the
company is now 1,000.After some time, company's business flourishes and now it's total income increases to
15,000,now the share per partner will be 3,750 from 2,500 as was earlier. If any partner wants to quit anytime,

he will sell his shares of the company to anyone else in the open market and a new partner will take his place.
You may heard of "100 index ",it is the total balance of 100 large companies registered in the PSX. Daily
trade is measure by points. If points exceeds 100 index it is said to be PSX in profit and dollar's rate is re-
duced otherwise in loss and dollar high. Now question arises that how much one point costs?. Suppose the 100
index (total balance) as today was 50,000 and PSX closed at 25 points, then 100index divide by 25 points
gives 2,000 as the cost of one point. SX is affected by uncertainty whether economical or political e.g. the day
Panama case verdict was to be announced y SC,PSX was very low and as the PM Khan has announced the
Saudi loan market was in swing.
Balance of Trade (BoT)
Difference b/w the values if imports and exports over a certain time. For better economy, exports must be
greater than imports but our case is reverse b/c our export lack in quality, quantity and also expensive hence
BoT not balanced. To compete in international market the other way is having huge foreign exchange reserves
(FxR) but as our currency PKR is continually devaluing hence our FxR are also much reduced. To maintain
this balance we often go for IMF bailout package-a financial support given by IMF to member states to get it
out of the economic crisis.
For trade Pak depends upon remittances-money sent by overseas Pakistanis to their homes in Pakistan,
aids by different countries etc. In the wake of US sanctions on Iran over JCPOA (joint comprehensive plan of
action) the oil prices in international :market have gone up.US have also stopped aid/CSF (coaltion support
fund) to Pakistan worth $50bn in terms of ongoing WOT. Further, Pakistan has been included in FATF grey
alleging non-cooperation in counter terrorism. Hence, to increase it's FxR,Pak will have to get IMF loan. Fin
Minister Asad Umer went to Indonesia last days for a package of $12bn.In response, the IMF delegation came
to Pakistan on 2nd November and the negotiations went round about for two weeks and finally ended incon-
clusive. Close sources states the dead lock was due to strict terms from IMF :devaluation of rupee, increasing
prices of oil and gas, and much more. However, the dialogue will be continued on video conferences and it
seems Pakistan will have to go for bailout. The recent drift of US dollar against Pakistani currency on the last
day f November shows big picture well .Don't forget our leaders have looted billions of dollars in money laun-
dering and if it would have not done so, today we would have been donating to others.
IMF?
International monetary fund was established in
1944 soon after the world war two WWII to
help out the war-torn states in economical is-
sues. But, these loans aren't free. Once you
have taken the loan now you will have to
abide by it's all rules and terms. Therefore,
many economists believe IMF as not a helper
but a dictator due to it's hard policies. From
where does IMF get so huge more?. Many in-
ternational companies and leading economies
fund IMF and are equal partner in the share.
USA is the largest donor while others are Chi-
na, Japan, UK, Germany, France.
27
What are IMF terms?
IMF, once grants loan can have full check and balance on the donor state's all economic policies and budget
i.e. often demands to decrease GDP from education and health sector etc. And if we fail to return all the mon-
ey with full interest, IMF can take our projects our even privatize our institutions e.g. PIA, Pakistan steel mill
(PSM) etc. Hence, many think going to IMF as surrendering our state's sovereignty.
Circular Debts mantra?
Loans are get to return the already taken debts, the practice in spite of decreasing the debts further increases
hence circulation of debts.
CPEC debts and Pakistan?
CPEC is a gift to Pakistan but at a high price: an investment of $57bn with a much higher interest of
11%!!.Hence we have to return $57bn to China with all interests too. This will also increase our debts in the
coming years, for which the taxes have been already included in the federal budget.
Why should we not go to IMF this time?
It would be much tougher to go for IMF package this time than that of earlier b/c of Pak-US strained rela-
tions, FATF etc. since USA is the largest donor to the IMF. Rather, one or two other loans like that of Saudi
one from other friends will be better.
Pak-KSA ad Yemen
KSA has helped Pakistan a number of times. In 1998 after nuclear tests bans, KSA granted $3bn and in
2014,$1.5bn.Note that, N. Shareef was PM both the times. In 2016,Saudi demanded Pakistan to directly inter-
vene in Yemen, Pak refused and it annoyed the Saudis. Now, when its $12bn loan and FM Qureshi says no
conditions are set by KSA seems quite awkward to listen as in today's give and take world there's no free
lunch. However, in the past we have been "ever ready to serve" in the wake of aids.......
“ BEQADRI TO HONI HE THI
HUM HER WAQT JO MAYASSUR THY"
Pak should not drag itself into the Iran-Saudi clash.PM says Pak will mediate in Yemen conflict but how it
will and what will be Pakistan’s role are some questions yet to be answered. In international politics there're
neither permanent friends nor foes but only permanent interests and similarly like all KSA has it's own inter-
ests. If kingdom frustrated on refusing Pak Army troops to Yemen in the wake if $1.2bn,then think the re-
sponse and demands after $12bn--not a rocket science to analyses..
Pak's ex-COAS Gen: Raheel Shareef is heading the 39-islamic states military alliance but Iran hasn't been
included in the alliance. Iran's reservations have not been satisfactorily answered by Pakistan. KSA is build-
ing a refinery at Gawadar. How can Iran bear KSA so close to it's border as a watchman siting in Pakistan.
Further, TAPI and IP gas pipeline have not worked on by Pak as it should had to be. Till now,we h've almost
failed to develop a balanced foreign policy in middle East (ME) hence, mediation is a million dollar question.
28
Yemen War?
Iran succeeded in Syria & Iraq. KSA decided to shift Iran's attention by attacking Yemen. Now, Iran backs
Houthis rebels and KSA is fully supported by USA, UAE. Yemen and KSA share 1,800KM long border and
Iran has brought this war to the border areas close to this border hence war at home which is a serious tension
for the Saudi kingdom. Now, KSA wants to get out of Yemen as a victor and for this it can go up to any limit.
For which it has recently bought billions of worth arms, drones and fully supports USA in Jeresulem embassy
shift and Iran's bans (JCPOA) .Recently KSA is under pressure due to journalist Jamal Khashoggi"s murder
but in the longer run, USA needs KSA to counter Iran.
CHINA AND MALAYSIA LINKS
China would also have some interests as others. While last year, in Malaysia the president Najeeb Razak was
dismissed on corruption charges and the veteran and ex-president Dr. Mahateer Muhammad re-elected. Soon
after coming in power, Mahateer reversed many projects initiated by Najeeb and sponsored by China. Clearly,
it was a serious blow to China's OBOR; one belt one road initiative. In response, China started to persuade
Mahateer and to resume its projects. This is why it seems so as PM Khan went to Malaysia to the very next
day after returning from China.
THE WAY FORWARD
In spite of Saudi loan, pak will have to get IMF package or from other friends. For the purpose, PM went to
China on Nov 2nd.Even after this, we will have to improve our tax culture and legislate economic reforms and
do some purposeful structural changes in FBR (Federal board of revenue). On the other hand Pak hasn't yet
condemned Khashoggi's murder (killed at KSA consulate in Turkey). While note that it was Turkey only one
in favor of Pakistan at FATF council. While honestly speaking it was KSA,USA and China that helped FATF
council to put Pakistan in grey list. Hence, Pak will have to set out it's foreign policy as per the international
dynamics and which way the wind blows. Also, parliament must be taken in confidence on the Saudi loan and
IMF. On the long run, this loan is going to affect our foreign affairs in one or the other way but at present
whether it is in Pak's interest or not is a separate debate but in need, indeed. Afterall, presently Pak is trapped
in a situation like:
"RAZIA PHANS GAI GUNDON MEIN"........

issue which is going to affect every living thing
throughout the world. Global warming and Climate
change may be described as the Gradual increase in
the Temp: of Earth and the changes in the weather due
to consequence of Green house gases effect and less
evolution of oxygen in the atmosphere. It all is hapen-
ning due to the human activities and their actions for
personal interest. Further some of the causes of it are
delivered below.
Deforestation: In last two decades huge amount of
trees have been cut down by the government to pro-
long the road alignments although very little quantity
of trees is planted after extending the roads. Wood ma-
fia is also cutting the trees for their personal benefit
which will harm their upcoming generations in future.
There is no any fast and quick action for illegally cu
ting of trees. In Pakistan forest area is very small as
compared to the country area and recently, govern-
ment has announced his policy to plant 1 billion trees
in his five years tenure.
Evolution of Carbon dioxide: In last 20 years, in-
dustries are
installed in
huge quan-
tity and
carbon ra-
diating en-
gines are
increased
which
causes
gradual
increment in the amount of Carbon dioxide in atmos-
phere. The population is increasing vertically and hori-
zontally day by day quickly and in spite of planting
trees and cleaning the environment they are making
atmosphere more dirty. In country side areas villagers
are cutting trees and using them as a fuel for cooking
food and other vegetarians, In this way trees are also
reducing and ultimately amount of Carbon dioxide
increasing which is damaging ozone layer badly. On
one side these industries and vehicles are facilitating
and working to reduce the human efforts although on
other hand causing great loss on their lives. Many
awareness programs to reduce global warming have
been run and implemented by the government,
business leaders, private sectors, NGOs and individals.
To encounter this issue properly, Government must
have to establish a policy with proper check balance of
increasing forestation particularly near to industrial-
ized areas and on the strips of the roads and in the rest
of country, as the plants absorbs carbon dioxide and
release oxygen. This will help in reducing Global
warming. If any colony is going to be constructed
newly then firstly plantation is done on large scale in-
side it by the peoples of colony then the living is ar-
ranged. We can easily come up with this issue, every-
body has to be accountable. A policy should be made
on self-help basis individually each one must plant a
tree, look after it until it grows up rather than criticiz-
ing the government. Thus by doing this a huge amount
of trees can be planted simultaneously. Recently I was
deeply impressed by a story I read about a prosperous
village. Actually they have adopted the policy “A tree
for a child” by their own minds. On the birth of child,
a fruit tree is planted and handed over to the child
when he/she became old enough to look after it.
Whenever a baby is born, family should plant a tree to
dedicate him/her. This will also feel them proud as
they will see plants are going to grow with them. Gov-
ernment ought to replace railway fuel engines by elec-
tric engines up to certain extent. if we think seriously
this could make our atmosphere green and free of sev-
eral disastrous effects like increase in the various dis-
ease, rising temperature etc. within two or three years.

The Moon, God created it. Then man conquered it. Nevertheless, it remains for many a sign of the Creator’s
existence. For this lunar presence cannot be explained away by mere happenstance or, indeed, evolution. After
all, scientists tell us that the composite mass of the Moon is as old as the solar system itself. Thus it is little
wonder that the moon has mesmerized since the dawn of time. From the way in which lights up the night sky
like nothing else in the heavens above. To its ever-changing form. Not to mention its primary function as regu-
lator of life’s ebbs and flows.
Let’s assume a world with thousands of the moons, providing the luminosity to different regions. Lets consid-
er a Pakistani moon, an African moon, Chinese moon and so on.
Yeah! It seems quite awkward but not a myth, as china seems so enamored with the Moon that it is making
one of its own. A man-made experiment in the form of an illumination satellite that will be launched into
space in 2020; capable of lighting up some 1,960 square miles. Thereby lending new meaning to the phrase:
by the light of a silvery moon.
In recent years, the People’s Republic of China has pushed forward with large-scale and ambitious ideas, from
the construction of an eco-city outside Beijing to the form-defying Harbin Opera House. Now, the southwest-
ern city of Chengdu, which is already famous for the stupid pandas that no body likes, hopes to launch an illu-
mination satellite functioning as an artificial moon by 2020 .

Scientist are hoping to hang the man-made moon
above the city of Chengdu, according to a report in
Chinese state media. The imitation celestial body—
essentially and illuminated satellite—will bear a re-
flective coating to cast sunlight back to earth, where it
will supplement
streetlights at night.
Scientists estimated
that it could be eight
times more luminous
than the actual, origi-
nal moon. It will also
orbit much closer to
Earth; about 500 kilo-
meters (310 miles)
away, compared to the
moon’s 380,000 km
(236,000 miles).
But the ambitious plan
still would not “light
up the entire night
sky,” Wu Chunfeng,
chief of the Tian Fu
New Area Science
Society, told China
Daily. “Its expected brightness, in the eyes of human,
is around one-fifth of normal streetlights.”
Wu estimated that new moons could save the city of
Chengdu around 1.2 billion Yuan ($173 million) in
electricity costs annually, and could even assist first
responders during blackouts and natural disasters. If
the project proves successful, it could be joined by
three more additions to the night sky in 2022, he said.
But much more testing needs to be done, Wu said, to
ensure the plan is viable and will not have a detri-
mental effect on the natural environment.
“We will only conduct our tests in an uninhabited de-
sert, so our light beams will not interfere with any
people or Earth-based space observation equipment,”
he told the Daily.
China’s space goals are not unprecedented. In the
1990s, Russia experimented with using an orbital mir-
ror to reflect sunlight on some of its sun-deprived
northern cities, according to the New York Times. The
project was abandoned in 1999 after the mirror failed
to unfold and was incinerated in the atmosphere.
In January, American firm Rocket Lab launched
an artificial star into space, the Times reported. But
scientists criticized the “Humanity Star,” as the reflec-
tive mini-satellite was dubbed, for contributing to arti-
ficial light pollution and cluttering in Earth’s orbit.
A concern was risen that as this moon will be eight
times more luminous than the actual moon, so it
would affect the animal’s routine that relay on moon
cycle. In reply to this concern, Mr. Kang Weimin, di-
rector of Institute of optics, school of Aerospace, Hao-
chin Institute of Technology, explained that light of
this satellite is similar to dust-like glow so it should
not affect animal’s routine.
However this project will opens the gates of technolo-
gy towards the whole world, if it succeed the every
city will have its own moon, and sky will have a good
company, but till that try watching the original moon.

  • 3. 3 EDITORIAL A fter much laziness and deliberation of a long time, finally, we are going to launch our first-ever campus magazine. In the name of Almighty, it is hoped to ever shine and progress. “The Thirst”, as ever needs a sufficient supplement and we have tried our best, besides credit goes to all our contributors. It is very kind of all the teachers who awarded their valuable time. A vibrant escort as we come to end, was beyond our expectations. It is a very good experience of life to be at a University like Quaid-e-Awam Uni- versity of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah and it is hoped that everyone be pleased after going through our colored pages. Open armed welcome for the new comers and best wishes for a bright wishes for a bright future to our outgoing senior fellows. “Culture is the widening of the mind and spirits,” as rightly said, was equally ob- served and evident from the cheerful clusters of students on Cultural day marked on 29th of November. Lets make a drift that we will eventually make Sindh great- er again. Any suggestion for our work is more than welcome. Signing off with the best wishes. • 4. 4 CULTURE OF SINDH An Overview of Culture of Sindh Culture of Sindh has its firm roots in Indus Valley Civilization. The most of the surface area of Sindh is cov- ered by Deserts and various natural resources like forests, rivers, lakes, streams, etc. Arabian Sea encloses its boundaries and is an efficient source of fishing and shipping. in the local climate it has been observed that Sin- dhis' have the language, custom, and tradition that is much different from other neighboring regions. Historical Background The Sindhi culture possesses its existence for very long. Archeological research in late 19th century and early 20th century showed that the social life, culture and religion, tradition, traditional arts and crafts, agricultural practices and other facts of social life belong to very initial stages of human life. Archeological Discoveries Sindh has a lot of archeological discoveries, the most ancient ones are: 1. Moen-jo-Daro Sir John Marshal, while excavation of Moen Jo Daro, had forecasted that it seems, there was a well civilized city and after detailed study, it was revealed that this civilization is about 5000 years old. It was the time of 3000 BC, when Sindhi Culture was at its peak in Indus Valley Civilization. 2. Rani Kot Fort Rani Kot Fort is considered as landmark of Indus Valley Civilization. It is the world’s largest fort with its walls ex- tending up to 32 kilometers. In comparison with “Great wall of China”, it is called as “Second wall of China” WAZEER HOSSEIN wazeerhussainotho@gmail.com Undergraduate of Department of Civil Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T Moen-Jo-Daro, Sindh, Pakistan Rani Kot Fort, Sindh, Pakistan
  • 5. 5 Language, Poetry and Music Sindhi language is one of the most ancient and rich language. Many writers have contributed a lot in various forms of literature like prose and poetry. Sindhi is the first Asian language, in which The Holy Quran was translated in 9th century ( some books prefer it to be 8th century). Poetry is the beauty of Sindhi language. Its first poet was Qazi Qadan and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast, Ustad Bukhari and Sheikh Ayaz are the well-known in the field of Sindhi Poetry. When this poetry is composed with Sindhi Music, having a lot of varieties and uniqueness, it becomes soul soothing. Cultural Games Likewise other nations, Sindhis’ has their most famous and amazing game “MALAKHRO”. Also, Wanjh Watti, Marble Game, Hopscotch and Beelharo are the cultural games. Cultural Character Sindhi Culture is a constantly progressive culture, yet having various difficulties and hardles at extreme, it has survived and it could also be beneficial for the whole world as it promotes brotherhood, sympathy, tolerance, hospitality, courage, honor for women, and non-violent life. Sindhi people are kind by nature, as Jauna Dakshiniya says: “Elegant with a lovely, soft, and slow gait, they are fond of art of Gandharvas, and full affec- tion towards their homeland. Ekta Day On the first Sunday of December every year, EKTA DAY OR SINDHI CULTURAL DAY is celebrated. On the auspicious day, all the Sindhis wear traditional dresses, cultural cap called as TOPI and AJRAK to make this day memorable and pay their love and affection towards their culture. All the political, religious, social organization, schools, colleges, universities organize individual events like musical nights, literary gathering and much more to mark the event. Basically, it is celebrated to display solitary among the nation. This was cel- ebrated firstly on December 6, 2016, when one of the most known Pakistani anchor person, Dr. Shahid Masood criticized the ex-president of Pakistan, Mr., Asif Ali Zardari, on wearing the Sindhi Topi on his for- eign tours. Sindhi people along with the great efforts of Sindhi media, condemned and celebrated the cultural day reminding others that Sindhis can not bear even a single word against their culture and customs.
  • 6. 6 Q.U.E.S.T- An Unappreciated Paradise in Sindh, Pakistan Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology Nawabshah (Q.U.E.S.T). On 7th August 1996, MUCET was promoted to the level of University through an Ordinance and later an Act of Sindh Assembly and named as “Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (Q.U.E.S.T)”, Nawabshah. Q.U.E.S.T is accredited with Higher Education Commission and Pakistan Engineering Council. Quaid-e-Awam is one of the leading Engineering University not only at the provincial level but at the national level too, the graduates of Q.U.E.S.T are employed in the diverse government and privately maintained organization and they are also working at international level. Here readers might ponder what is in point of fact here, So despite of being in the top universities of Pakistan Q.U.E.S.T is not receiving as much appreciation as it should have. Q.U.E.S.T campus is positioned just outside the city of Nawabshah nearby airport and is spread over an area of 457 acres on both sides of the main Sakrand road. Currently, it comprises of three academic sectors. Sector A houses the departments of Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Institute of Information Technology the Administration Block and a well-established Computer Centre. Sector B houses the departments of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy & Environment Engineering and Basic Sciences & Related Studies. While all the laboratories of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineer- ing and Workshop are placed in Sector C and the Central Library is sited between Sector B & C and the new Modern Library is also going to be in operational in coming days. Two new buildings for Electronics and En- ergy & Environment Engineering have been constructed amongst sectors A & B. There is a well-planned resi- dential colony consisting of a substantial number of bungalows for the teachers and officers and quarters for other employees. Students of Q.U.E.S.T are having more endowment comparatively than other engineering universities, they are almost desired in the field due to their technical awareness of the stuffs, furthermore Q.U.E.S.T has higher number of P.H.D holder Faculty Members who are doing their best, ratio of students at work in the field of Q.U.E.S.T is higher than the others, yet no one is accepting the fact that Q.U.E.S.T is not just like the other universities but it is more. Here are few examples of what is being done by University, so far: MoU signing with international delegates at Q.U.E.S.T FAREED AHMED SHEIKH Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T fareedahmedshaikh42@ieee.org / 16el42@quest.edu.pk
  • 7. 7 ESTEC 16 and 17: Social accomplishments are conjoint part of any university but the students of Q.U.E.S.T arranged a Conference named “Engineering Science and Technology Enhancement Conference (ESTEC)” Phase-I and II, which was the absolutely a new idea not ever orga- nized previously by other universities but Q.U.E.S.T, with moto “To reduce the gap between industry and academia”. In most of the universities a new idea and Conference is rarely implemented and systemized but the Q.U.E.S.T students are reinvigorated to do innovative things and convey new ideas like this, and they make the difference in sense of how effectively we work together as a team for greater good. The ESTEC in its three days also had the Project and Poster exhibition for the students to demonstrate out the talent they retain through Project and Poster Exhibition. In which not only the students of campus were involved but the Ambassador’s from diverse universities crossways of Pakistan joined and was concluded with musical night and the tour to historical plac- es of Sindh on third day flourishing the new idea in the environment. QUEST MUN: One of the recognized event Model United Nation is not new for Q.U.E.S.T, but it is organized every single year in the Campus for the students to partake, dig out their concealed potentials and fight their way for what is right and what need to be done. Every time the participant number increases with more poten- tial and with a thirst for change IEEE QUEST Chapter: As we recognize the standards of world so the most enti- tled one organization “Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE)” its branch is working in the Q.U.E.S.T, for their corresponding departments encompassed. There is more aptitude in the undergraduates of Q.U.E.S.T than anybody else does. As the Electrical Power necessity is increasing so the solution for substitute energy are being rum- maged out and made feasible to whatsoever extent they could be so recently CEO of “Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB)” attended the workshop of “Increasing Demand and Use of Renewable Energy Sources” at Q.U.E.S.T. These were the few illustrations that what actually is in Q.U.E.S.T, but the complete information would be bulky one for the readers. Here the point of significance is that university has much more potential and it has provided this Country and Nation a great number of engineers, who are working to their highest for the nation’s future, we must change the angle to look for what is reality because even with both eyes open, we can see half of the picture so, The Q.U.E.S.T is not just the like other universities but it is dis- tinct and more important than any of the engineering university working in Pakistan.
  • 8. 8 BECOMING EPITOME OF SUCCESS SYED ARSLAN ALI SHAH 16el65@quest.edu.pk Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T Adefinition of Success can be presumed as ‘an achievement of something that you’ve been trying to do.’ In short, it’s a never ending journey towards better evolvement of oneself. It’s a voyage full of hurdles, and storms waiting to be welcomed. It’s an indescribable never lasting endeavor filled with the tingle of excitement about you do and have to do. It requires patience, persistence, perseverance, determination and dedication. In our entire life, we try to be in the center of attention. We adore being the one in spotlight, and endeavor to grab as much credit as we can. It is in our enigmatic human essence, to always stay ahead, progress and evolve. That's the reason that the only thing we fear is, not being able to cope with others, which in fact is something we can't resolve. But why is it so significant to admire and see the real potential within ourselves? Let us observe an exemplary man of figure, Thomas Alva Edison. An outclass inventor with record number of 1093 patents! It is often said that it took him almost 1000 attempts to simply invent a subtle light bulb. And when a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps." “…invention with 1000 steps.” It is remarkable to witness his ‘will’ and ‘wit’. How on earth could someone re- ally astute that level of positivity and optimism with such efferves- cence? It is not simply everyone’s cup of tea to acquire the wisdom and sagacity of that caliber of Edison, Einstein, Tesla or Newton etc. It requires proper observation and assessment to actually see beyond our gasp. From my limited perspective, it turns out that there is something that those winning failures do something distinctively different and much bet- ter than the average ones, which help them to become the odd one out. Some few features are enlisted below, that were found to be the key factors in achieving one’s goals. Never give up: No matter how worse the odds and adversities are, you can’t accept the defeat. You just CAN’T. Format and erase the complete existence of the word “give up” from your mental memory. Because failure is an option, but giving up is not. The day you stopped trying is the day you surrendered, and believe me, abandoning is something that only a coward attempts. If you can’t go all the way, then why go at all? Explore out every bit left in you and without any fact, you can achieve wonders.
  • 9. 9 Limit your procrastination: Notice that I quoted, “Limit your procras- tination” instead of “Never procrastinate”, because it is absurd to assume a being who doesn’t procrastinate. You do pro- crastinate and you will, because every in- dividual does. Now, what stands out is how less you procrastinate. Establish the roots of pro-activeness in your DNA. And remember, there is no tomorrow. Whatev- er it is, it needs to be started today. It doesn’t matter how lethargic the progress goes on. Bear in mind that slow and steady always wins the race. Avoid skepticism: Once you have opted for your goal, there’s no going back. And when you’re at a point of no return, there should never be a room for skepticism. Not just because it’s not in your favor but also that it’s not even a possibility. If you don’t have a faith on whatever you’re up to, then how will you be ready to confront the challenging odds? And when you’ve come so far, you can’t afford doubts; else you’ll have to pay its price. Be confident and create your own flow. Welcome criticism: You should happily greet the disapprovals from the society, notwithstanding the fact that those criticisms won’t be thrown at you for your betterment, but it’s up to you to convert every bit of harsh response and mold it into your benefit. People can’t bear the change. They will always point a finger at you just for their self- satisfaction and temporary entertainment. I’ll here quote Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi. He says: “If you are irritated by every rub, then how will your mirror be polished?” Self-Belief: Steve Jobs said, “Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” This is the one of most salient and foremost thing a person could have. No one can tell you what to do, how to do and when to do, until and unless you decide it yourself. All the philosophy and human evaluation has come to a single conclusion that whenever someone has somewhere, committed to accomplish something, then there is no force found to be stopping him. But there will be hurdles. There will be difficulties and hardships, waiting to be welcomed. But you know what? These obstacles are like guests, they come and stay for a while, but they are destined to go away. They have never remained long and will never in future. Even Holy Quran says, “Verily, with every difficulty, there is relief.” Quran (94:5) So, when the God himself has made you this promise and assured you, then how do we humans dare to disa- vow such pledge? After every dusk, there’s always a dawn. After every storm, there’s a rainbow. After every darkness, there’s a light. Just what you have to do is self-belief. Believe that you are made to conquer the world. Believe that you are the master of your fate and captain of your soul. Believe that it is not over until you say it’s over. Believe that it’s never late. Everything is waiting for you to be strived for. But bear in mind that Success is never served on a platter; one has to sweat, venture and sacrifice to achieve it. And only self-belief will make you confident that your victory is self-assured. "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."- Mahatma Gandhi
  • 10. 10 CSS: THE GAME OF COMMITMENT, SACRIFICE & SAFETY. ASAD KHAN MALOKHANI asadahmed_ahmed@yahoo.com Whenever a baby is born he/she enters the "game of life", an easiest game for the children of those who have won it and as a reward they have the luxuries of life (upper class of the society), and a hard- er game for those who haven't scored good (middle class of the society), and a hardest game for those who haven't played well at all (lower class of the society). The only thing which fails a player in the game of life is his dedication towards it. Every game has its own rules and regulations some of the most important rules of the game of life are commitment and sacrifice and as a reward, you get safety for your future. There are many ways to win the game of life, either you would be having a luxurious life already, then this game is so easy for you or you must win it through specific rules. People reading this article may think of me as a person just focusing on the luxury of life and money. I am right at my point that life is too short, and we should enjoy it in a luxurious way. Everyone has a right to live a grand and magnificent life. In Pakistan, such life is only available for three kinds of people, Politicians, Businessmen, and Bureaucrats. The first two choices are much harder to achieve in comparison to the third one. The bureaucracy offers us a well and good life. CSS is like a blessing for the people of Pakistan. And you must work hard for getting that blessing. The rules of winning this game are very simpler and that are: 1. Commitment 2. Sacrifice 3. Safety 1. Commitment. The word commitment means the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. And that is the most important thing for winning this game. Once you have a commitment to your goals then whole the world will help you to achieve those. Commitment not only brings your all intentions, ideas and innovations work together for your purpose, but it also completes your dreams. CSS needs you to be committed towards its requirements that are making your mind to commit all your work in a pas- sionate and professional way, which is sufficient for passing an exam. CSS is just a little exam when we talk about the thing "Commitment" it helped Newton to discover the laws of motion, it enhanced Einstein to imagine the things he called " Thought Experiments" which letter became the foundation of the most significant theory of Modern physics which revolutionized the way we see the universe," Special and general theory of relativity" . Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T
  • 11. 11 There are many ways to make your commitments stronger and sustainable, prime and powerful, emphasized and esteemed, but a very useful and easiest way is examining people around you working for hours and hours, days and nights just for earning the bread and commitment is the thing which let them do so. The commitments you make should be the stubborn and never-ending habit. The meaning of the word is to give up something which is valued by us to get something more valuable. Eve- rything needs a sacrifice to achieve it, and we must sacrifice something to get another thing. The most useful sacrifice for achieving something is time. Time is a basic need for a player to win any game. We see people around us working for days and nights just for getting what they want. The right use of time lets you get anything in life. CSS also needs time to achieve it if you just give your quar- ter day to the studies and preparation of the exam then I guarantee you that you can achieve highest marks to get the desired service. We revolve around the space of time. If there isn't any tool left for winning, then there is a way to winning the game and that is the fair usage of time. Time can change your future. It was time who made Bill Gates the richest person on the earth. It was time who made Einstein a great scientist of all times. God has created the universe and assigned time to drive it. Time is the best em- ploy of nature. The fair utilization of time will always give you success. The great names we listen today are only made great just because of the fair utilization of their time at a right place and things. "Time is the best tool to win any game" (ACG’s Thoughts) Safety The word safety means "the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger". The meaning simply states that being safe is a very important thing in life. Anybody has no idea how long they would live because death is constant, and everybody will taste it. A person in game of Life plays the whole game just be- cause of one reason and that is safety (security), the safety of their future, the safety of their good income, the safety of their family, the safety of their children, and the safety of their coming generations that is how a re- sponsible person thinks about the family, and CSS is the tool which may provide us all the safeties stated above. Becoming a CSS Officer not only makes your personality, but it differences your character, quality, and temper from others. Many of the people must be thinking that I have very low hopes, I am just writing about an exam, and focusing little things like CSS. But I guarantee you if once you become a bureaucrat then it’s fanta- sies will be disclosed to you and you will want your loving ones to enjoy the same manners. A middle or a poor class person can't think of being either a great businessman or an industrialist then there remains the last hope for them to win the game of Life and that is CSS. "Safety is a reward every player wants from a game" (ACG Thoughts)
  • 12. 12 LESA MARIA TRIYANTI Student of English Education, Mataram University, Indonesia lesamariatriyanti2@gmail.com Nowadays, the opportunity of having a baby is inevitable. Every couple who is not fertile is able to have chil- dren by surrogacy. Surrogacy is the activity of lending womb to spouses to have a baby which is done by a woman called as surrogate mother. As matter of fact, many people have different point of views regarding how the practice of surrogacy is. Some people think that is bad whereas some people feel it is not a matter to have a baby by surrogacy. This essay will examine both sides of an issue. First, some people think that the practice of surrogacy is illegal. Some countries restrict or regulate surroga- cy and its consequences. For instance, Finland is one of the most famous countries because of its education system against the surrogacy system. Surrogacy has been illegal since law amendment in 2007. Children born abroad for Finnish parents by surrogacy will not be entitled to get Finnish Citizenship. As a result sever- al things need to be considered when we want to do a surrogacy such as the condition of surrogate mother or surrogate mother’s health. Some people think that surrogacy is same as practice of selling womb which has very dangerous impacts to surrogate mother. If the process of pregnancy is not successful, it will lead to death. That is why some people consider that surrogacy is a risk practice which can cause death to a surro- gate mother. Second, the practice of surrogacy is not ethics. Numerous ways to help others yet sacrificing ourselves is not good. A couple who wants to have a baby does not need to hire a surrogate mother. They are capable of adopting a little child in particular foundation. Hiring woman’s womb to carry their offspring does not have a certain kind of feelings. A surrogate mother who was bearing a child during nine months will give him/her to real parents, it is not easy as it seems, a surrogate mother has strong affection towards the baby and it is same as separating the baby with his/her mom. SURROGACY: good or bad?
  • 13. 13 Third, some religions preach that surrogacy is a form of adultery. Religions naturally have views on pro- creation, because the spiritual laws guiding human life are their domain. Religious views on surrogacy vary from complete prohibition to acceptance. According to Christi- anity, the Catholic Catechism states that a child is a gift, not a right and surrogacy is “gravely immoral” because a third party comes between the “one flesh” principle that unites husband and wife. Judaism also has a spectrum of attitudes toward surrogacy. Orthodox and conservative rabbis take the view that using another person as incu- bator is degrading and devalues. Islam also has divided views on infertility treatments and surrogacy. Accord- ing to the Sharia law, some Muslim scholars’ claim it is akin to adultery, because it involves a woman who is not the husband legally carrying an egg fertilized by him. On the other hand, some people take view that surrogacy is one of the best ways to have children for infertile couple. Surrogacy is not always bad and immoral. By doing surrogacy, a surrogate mother with an agreement each other are able to assist couple who have dream to have children can come true. A surrogate mother has experiences meet with many people, share love and happiness. In addition to this, the monetary of being a surrogate mother are significant enough to be life-changing, the emotional and psychological benefits are truly transformative. Even, there is a website which provides circle for women who want to work as surro- gate mothers called circlesurrogacy.com. This website provides many benefits such as life insurance policy. However, surrogacy will merely lead to big risk toward the surrogate mother. Not only can cause surrogate mother’s health but also social influences that people around her will look at her as person who sells her womb. To sum it up, this issue is serious one because it affects the way people think. Every couple wants to have children without any obstacles. In my view that surrogacy is one way to assist people who want to have baby, however we must take step to decide whether or not to do surrogacy and consider whether the surroga- cy is allowed in the country where we live.

  • 15. 15 SAAJDEE DAHIO Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T saajdee@gmail.com / 16el64@quest.edu.pk P ondering on the society, we would come to know that from home to an international politics, every- one is under the shadow of distinction. All of us have group identities. We identify with that are like us: from the same region: speaking the same language as we do, devotees of the same Guru, what have you. There is nothing wrong or strange about that. The problem start here when we perceive members of the same class as different to and less valuable than our own group. Moreover, in some countries, especially beloved Pakistan, some people consider some of the casts and races as the most “ignorant”, “lazy”, “dirty”, or just “different” from theirs, even following the same school of thoughts. As a Islamic Republic, under the outstanding teachings of Islam, Pakistan has Anti-discrimination law stating in Article 25(1) that all the citizen are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law. However from the early 50’s till now and may be onwards, no one of the officials succeed to fulfil the teaching of law. Surfing on the Internet thoroughly, I was too much surprised to know that even top universities are failed to make a single rule of anti-discrimination in their atmosphere. Most of the Institutions are suffering from a cancer-like disease usually termed as GENDER DIFFERENCE, and that’s where Discrimination starts. Most of the cases, staff provide special affection to the opposite sex and are found to be a part of harassment. Beside harassment there are many other discriminations that really threaten the mind of a common man, like ethnicity, race, color, religion, creed, gender, age, political benefits, family, status etc. It is not even possible to have a thriving and productive learning, working and living environment in the presence of Discrimination. DISCRIMINATION: more common than you think.
  • 16. 16 Looking at the class, we come to know, most of the teachers, just try focusing on first two bench- es, without knowing the hidden potential of the backbenchers. Let’s think, how many students can sit on the first benches, hardly 20 students, then where should others go? A teacher is supposed to teach whole the class despite just focusing on the fraction. Even in the first lecture of the session, when no one is favorite to teacher, teacher used to have a hardly conversation with the student sit- ting on the third or fourth bench. Most of the time, students need encouragement so that they may fulfil their dreams that their eyes have, but discriminated environment never allow them to reach the skies. Recalling the History, there was a man called EDISON. His teacher wrote to his mother that Edi- son is Addled and would not be allowed in school anymore, when Edison asked her mother, what the letter said, she pretended to read it aloud, stating that he could not go to school because he was a genius and “the school is too small for him”. That was the encouragement that bring Edison to the heights of sky. The real teacher is supposed to fulfil at least the responsibility to encourage his students, God knows, may be that moment brighten his life and take him to the peak of success. Since there are no formally designated forums to raise the voice against discrimination except gender discrimina- tion therefore people suffering from such acts are unable to find any opportunity to report them. There is a clear conclusion here, men like women, children or elderly people face discrimination. Policies are failed to formulate such a law that can provide an environment totally free from discrimina- tion. It can be noticed that some positive steps are taken in case of gender discrimination. However, laws are not protective for most of the discriminations.
  • 17. 17 Literature is the diversified field of study in which the world is expressed in a philosophical tact depend- ing upon the insights and mentality of an individual or some may say that it is the artistic merit which is exposed through writing and reading genres like fiction, non-fiction, prose & poetry. This subject does not witness any of the materialistic ideas rather it is based upon versatile ideas which are influencing and ef- fective on a human nature. Not everyone is attracted towards literature but there is the particular clout of people who are fond of reading, writing & watching creation based stuffs. The man of literature defines everything in a differing and relevant way with each other or with a person this goes by personification in the language of literature. Planet literally means here the circle and some amount of as many people at- tracted to the literature. Practically no such planet exists except earth where the possibility of human resi- dence is expected. The poetic sentiments, heartily felt feelings and some other aspects belong to this field but are not mainly accepted by the society and its constituent factors due to great isolation from field, this feeling of a person feel like they are from a different planet so are we. Aristotle once said “The literature related people is the abandoned character of a society”. Paying a critical attention to this statement we may say clear as crystal that the society does not accept these people. I feel they refer a poet or a writer of deep thought to an alien reached here from a different planet with a celestial source. One may say exactly converse to what I referred but the literature really seems lonely and solitary planet for idealists, there are several examples and epitomes to describe my connotation. Literate people does not know how to face the real world and cope with world to snatch the rights, some of them are with the mystic and monk’s thoughts. He feels dire need of solitary and refrains from contributing in conversations. Sometimes think that I am the only one who is living on this planet-Earth or have been dubbed here without my desire. It is not that I am merging my note and tone with your given statement but the same feelings are perceived not only by me but other critics and writers on several walks of life. It is so true that the realism clearly rejects and abandons the literate lovers and devotees of great and deep thoughts which is proved by international re- search report. The philosopher, critics and high profile thinker & some mystics like Rumi, Plato, Kafka, Jean Paul Sar- tre , Karen Armstrong, and such others who are of the thought that literature is the exceptional place where only rational persons and optimists inhabits. • 18. 18 Plato like Aristotle thinks that “there is no room for poets in favorable states”. Philosophically it compels to give attention to that thought of Plato. Emerson had once said for Plato that “Plato is Philosophy & Philosophy is Plato” The statement of him was really worth mentioning here in this regard. People in this world which when seen of a matter prefer languages and the holy words but they are not devoted to refer the spiritual meaning. “Namaz” really is the holy practice of Islam which is the method of devotion and modesty towards God but literally this Arabic word means “to bow down”. What a rational and artistic person think there is 0pc probability that a person of real world thinks the same. Plato has further quoted that “the world where we live and takes breath is not the real world but the imitation of an ideal world”. He considers all the literature exclud- ed persons as imitators of the imitated world, he thinks that everything is derived from that imitated realm. Plato has also deduced that poets being immoral are harmful for the well-being of a healthy so- ciety. According to Plato “poets tell the greatest of the false hood for greatest of the beings (gods)” (Ref: Plato’s Republic, Book II). Rumi being a mystic has exalted and dignified the poets as the prophets. The thing that is thought by a common person is totally different from what the literature lover think. YES! One can take the support of literature to solace himself and to relieve from some not vanishing wounds the bandage of literature will surely cover this. Literature is the artistic field which is conferred to the creative minds and not everyone is capable of holding the reins of this state which is literature. An individual’s life is solely a state where he fixes and legislates the rules for spending his life where he is the authorized person and he is the judicial head.
  • 19. 19 OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM Education is an apparatus which can construct you and make you something. It is in charge of many known researchers, innovators, spe- cialists and so forth. It is a root to a productive tree. Getting education is similarly critical to breathing since education shows you how and what to do to get by in this world. In any case, all the above lines look only ambiguous ideas due to the present education system. Right? Current Education System is a botched up one where we are tried based on our recollections, not insight. It is an equivalent word of serious pres- sure which is being given to the students. We think by concen- trating gigantic books, we will be fruitful, yet as a gen- eral rule, we are not going anyplace close to progress. Rather we are being topped off by the futile data which probably won't work for us later on. The field, in which we are, should just contain the books which are identified with it so students don't get confounded. But no, students must take in the historical back- drop of Pakistan in the field of Electrical Engineering as though students will utilize the ideas that individuals utilized in 1900s to get fruitful. This general data may be helpful yet it leaves students perplexed about what they are doing in this current field. University life is the last advance to continue to profi- cient life. In universities, they train students about how to make due in the professional environment with other data related to the field. And yet they mentally program the psyches of the students by filling the data that probably won't be valid. Universities instruct us that professional life is the most exceedingly terrible period of the existence where you address huge diffi- culties and individuals whom you don't care for how- ever you need to work with them or for them. This part is valid, the real life starts when one enters in the expert life. But, rehashing these things and startling the students isn't satisfactory. Students at that point feel extremely uneasy and terrified to confront the ex- pert life. Their attitude changes, technique changes, inspiration changes, and in short they totally change themselves out of dread. Therefore they lose certainty to walk, talk, and carry on in the expert condition however it tends to be defeated soon by investing some energy. • 20. 20 One additional thing that universities instructs us that how and what should we do to fulfill our "BOSS." I have a negative fixation on "BOSS". What would it be a good idea for us to do to make our boss fulfilled? What would it be advisable for us to maintain a strategic distance from to keep boss glad? How to deal with a troublesome boss? The most effective method to be under boss and so on. They just show students being the workers of your boss and recall one thing "that place can just create hirelings where the reasoning is of the worker". Rather they ought to show their students to be their own bosses. Everyone realizes how to carry on under a boss yet not very many individuals realize how to end up a business person. Entrepreneurship is the best thing yet our universities don't need us to be the best. They are constraining us from the ideas that can really help us in getting achievement. Universities feed their students so much superfluous data and anticipate that they will upchuck on papers in their exams. This so much unessential data makes up pressure. Students come in pressure, they contemplate in pressure, they avoid their suppers in pressure, they turn out to be less social in pressure and at last due to this pressure, whatever they ponder, they forget. Teachers restrict students from cramming yet they are the person who educate cramming. Who will recall the date when a researcher concocted his first syringe? This pressure mostly prompts fizzling the exam and after that students are being chided by both their folks and instructors. Once in a while students submit suicides since they think they can't do anything. Least would the world realize that students don't submit suicides, they are killed by the present education system and the suicide rate in students has expanded is as yet going up. The earth, in which we are living, is a revile where an innocent child of age 6 or 7 is offered 6 to 7 books to study and convey a substantial load on his little shoulders. He is compelled to ponder and just examination abandoning every one of the things he is keen on. The age in which he should play outside, deals with his physical wellness and study, he regularly bound to complete one thing by his folks, Study. Imagine a scenario where he doesn't have the enthusiasm for the subjects which are being instructed at the school. Imagine a sce- nario to which his advantage is in painting. Imagine a scenario to which his advantage is in composing. Are doctors and engineers everything? Isn't there some other calling other than doctors and engineers? The little personalities of the youngsters are being filled by the data that just doctors and engineers are the professions. Nothing is tantamount to them. Each and every other profession is second rate compared to them. Therefore the personalities of the youngsters are occupied from painting, composing, photography, drawing, trade and processing to simply medical and engineering. I salute those students who pick commerce and arts as their majors on the grounds that according to the present reviled condition just those students who need to flee from studies pick these however in their eyes everything has an esteem. Furthermore, each easily overlooked detail do has an esteem. Education makes a student fruitful yet legitimate and Relevant Education makes a student more than effective. My fantasy education system is that when a youngster scopes to the age of 10, he ought to be given a year or two where he ought to be shown each subject for instance, Math, English, Computer Science, Music, Arts and so on. At that point he ought to be offered opportunity to pick a subject and for his remaining student life he ought to be encouraged things identified with that specific subject as it were. Along these lines he will think about his most loved field the odds of him to be fruitful will raise. Things that reason pressure in students must be totally repudiated by the education system regardless of on the off chance that it incorporates exams. Strife emerges that nobody will contemplate at that point if there will be no any exam. The nullification I will give on this one is that the individual who wants to get the hang of anything won't require any exam. He will figure out how to his fullest. Something else is that education ought to be free for all with the goal that every- body can manage the cost. At last, I would just say that this present education system should be changed for the lives of the students in light of the fact that as long as this framework stays, there will be setbacks or their will be cases that nobody would need to see. Everybody ought to take a stab at this revile to be evacuated. An- other thing, I am not against Education I am against current Education System.
  • 21. 21 LIVING IN THE PRESENT We all have made our lives a living prison for our- selves by overthinking on the useless things, we seem to be free but our minds are locked with the continu- ous battle of ideas and thinking about what we did and what we will do, we must live in the present. Living in the present means being aware and conscious of what you are doing, feeling and thinking, at the present mo- ment. It means shifting your attention to present mo- ment and dealing with it effectively, instead of focus- ing on the past or future. The past has gone away and you cannot change it and the future is dependent on the present, shaped by your current thoughts, feelings and actions. True living occurs in the present moment, the only moment exists at our side because nothing is worth more than this day. One of my teacher uses to say: “Go in the past and learn from it don’t stay there and work for the future by living in present”-Sir Dr. Javed Ahmed Laghari Living in the present moment helps you to avoid wor- ries, fears and anxieties, and wasting your time on fu- tile and negative thoughts. If you keep thinking about the past, you allow all kinds of emotions and thoughts to rise into your consciousness, affecting the way you feel and think. Most often, such reminiscing disturbs the mind and agitates it, which is the opposite of peace of mind. It is the same with thinking about the future. It is okay if you devote some time to thinking about it and planning it, but if you just keep dwelling on it and worrying about it, you are keeping peace of mind away. We work for the better life, however in reality the life is passing by in front of us, we don’t realize and think about that, these family and friends we are missing the joy of every single moment with them and would realize in old age because our life is leading to no where with stress and depression we keep on our- selves by overthinking, we are responsible for it. The best approach would be to direct your attention to the present moment, to what you are doing and what is happening around you at each moment. By occupying your mind with the present moment, you keep your mind busy, and don't make room for worries, anxie- ties, fears or unpleasant memories. Learn from the past and plan for the future, but don't dwell too much on them. You cannot change the past and you cannot yet live in the future. The only place where you can live and act is in the present, We must realize that all we ever have in our hand is the present moment. Actually, what you do in the present affects your fu- ture. Reliving past events in your mind and daydream- ing about the past or the future, keep the mind busy with an endless number of thoughts. However, if you focus your mind on the present moment, you don't make room in your mind for unnecessary and disturb- ing thoughts or emotions. The past happened and is over, so what is the use of reliving it? You lose peace of mind if you constantly live in the past and think and visualize events that have already happened. You also gain nothing by worrying about the future. Living in the present means that you direct your attention to what is happening now, enjoying it, and making the most of it. By focusing your mind on the present, you don't have time or opportunity to wallow in useless and negative thoughts and emotions relating to the past or the future. Wake up to the present moment and live in it. FAREED AHMED SHEIKH Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T fareedahmedshaikh42@ieee.org / 16el42@quest.edu.pk
  • 22. 22 THE LOST SMILE Nur Aisyah Susyari aisyah2701@gmail.com Student at Institute Agama Islam Negeri Madura, East Java, Indonesia S mile, a little thing leads to a great life. Smile is not only moving facial muscles, but also mood movements. A memorable smile is from the core of heart as a center of all auras and bodi- ly conditions. A good heart drives everything in hu- man beings to be good. Smiling is not only to make people more attractive, but it can make the other peo- ple do smiling too. So, they can share the happiness each other. Smile is so easy to do. All people can do it as a symbol of their expression. We can give smiles to everyone we meet to keep and increase our relationship. That’s why, the smile is not for adding a beauty on face only. Based on Islamic reli- gion, the smile is worship. We will be rewarded for our smile. It tells us how much valuable the smile is. Unfor- tunately, in this era, it’s hard to fin that kind of smile. The technology is covering this issue, we couldn’t deny that the technology has many ad- vantages for our daily life. Such as progress in accessing information and media which are supported by internet. Internet access can be done by anyone, from young to old one. They can express whatever they feel included the smiles. People can ex- press their smiles through internet by using social me- dia. There are many commonly social medias which people use, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, etc. We can take Whatsapp as one of exam- ple for this issue. As we know that Whatsapp provides many features to ease the user in communicating. They get used to use emoji to express their feeling. There are many emoji which is provided by Whatsapp included face emoji which most of them are smiling emoji. People can choose one or more emoji to ex- press their feeling. Anyways, no one will know if it’s a real feeling or the fake one. The easier to use, the eas- ier to be fake. Someone might send you smiling emoji, but it can be a fake smile only. They must have their own reason to do. It can be said that they don’t want the other knows the real feeling they have at that time. They might believe that they can solve it by their selves, or you are not the right one to be told. In other words, they might have untellable problem. In other case, people use smiling emoji doesn’t mean to express their feeling, but as a compli- ment for the words they write on the messages. Mostly, they only use their favorite one to ex- press nothing. There- fore, we might call it as a fake smile. But it’s not right to be judged, this matter is not a big deal and no need to be debated. Just consider it as for fun. Don’t take it seriously. By the words above, we can say that we really lost our smiles in font of so- cial media. The more you spend your time for that thing, the more you lost your smile. Because your fo- cus will be on it only, you might ignore or at least for- get your real life, as on social media you can talk with your family and friends, so you don’t need to meet or interact with them directly. It's true that the social me- dia help us a lot, but how is our smile? When are we going to use it? In this case, we might have lost our smile.
  • 23. 23 Balochistan's turmoil and federation From the very first day 27th March 1948 when Balo- chistan joined Pakistan ,the plight of Baloch is ever growing. Every new day brings some more pain and sorrow for them. With each following day the situa- tion turns bolt to blue. From burning villages to ab- duction of men, women, children, elderly people or looting the valuables and livestock from almost every nook and corner of Balochistan has become a nasty routine. Struggling for their rights and equality as per the constitution, the Baloch Students Organization (BSO) has played a vital role. According to the International voice for Baloch Missing Persons, 18,000 Balochs have gone missing by January 2014. Among them, 2,000 were killed be- tween 2001 and 2013. Furthermore, 463 people were forcibly disappeared in Balochistan, out of whom, 157 were tortured to death in 2015 with bodies found mutilated. Most recently, Balochistan has lost a young talent Shabir Baloch who was abducted on 24th of October 2016 from Gwarkop Balochistan. The fam- ily of missing Shabir met with Mr. Nasrullah , the chair person of voice for Baloch Missing Person, to gave him details of Shabir's abduction. The family stated that Shabir was serving as the central Infor- mation Secretary of BSO Azad until he was disap- peared along with 26 other colleagues on 24th October during an active military operation across areas along the Turbat district. 24-year-old shabir was abducted, because instead of enjoying his life as a youth he was spread- ing awareness and raising voice against the injustice and inhuman practices in Balochistan. Round about two years have been passed but yet the Government has neither took any notice nor showed any interest in this regard. Family of shabir Baloch has also been protesting for the safe recovery of their beloved one. Shabir’s sister, Seema Baloch has pleaded to judiciary and media to help them out. Also, they urged, if Shabir is involved in any kind of criminal offence, he must be produced before Court to provide him a fair trial as guaranteed by the constitution under article 10 A. The law should take its due course.  Anssa Baloch, Sister of Amir Baloch ZAFAR ALI LAGHARI lagharizafar108@gmail.com / 16el108@quest.edu.pk Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T
  • 24. 24 Not only Shabir’s sister but there is also an other innocent daughter of Balochistan, Anssa Baloch , the sister of Amir Baloch that is crying for immediate release of her brother who was abducted on 2nd February 2017. The family of Amir Baloch stated that no one is ready to appease them. They asked that media is not high lighting the issue . The family claimed that they are totally helpless as neither media nor any political source is willing to cooperate with them. More than a year has been passed but yet nothing seems effective. They pleaded to the governor of Balochistan ( Amanullah khan yasinzai), CM of Balochistan (Jam Mir Kamal khan) and chief justice of Balochistan high court (Syeda Tahira Safdar) to take notice. Recently there came a similar concern on screen that three Baloch women, Rozina, her two daughters, Asmat and Hafeeza and other family members, were abducted from Jhaoo, district Awaran. It is barbaric act of collective punish- ment continuation of Baloch genocide. There are more than five thousand cases in Balochistan regarding disappearances. The people that have been targeted are mostly journalists, students, teachers, political activists and lawyers, none of them was anarchist. The list of those cases was submitted in senate by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, who told chairman senate that more than 40 year have been passed but still he couldn't get the dead body of his brother. Article 8 to article 28 of the 1973 constitution describe the fundamental rights which are guaranteed to all the citizens; but, unfortunately the Baloch brothers are deprived of them. I ask from the international human rights organizations, who is responsible for all this?, why the humanity is under red lights and when will this come to its end?. We strongly appeal from the Pakistani Government and UNO to take notice, renovate the cases with honestly in two shakes of lamb's tail without any political, national and ancestry difference and set a arbitration that would specially be handled by either. Apposite steps should be taken for immediate release of abducted people both in letter and spirit.  Seema Baloch, Sister of abducted Shabir Baloch.
  • 25. 25 Pakistan's economy postmortem and dwindling south-Asia After much uncertainty and crisis in the open market, PM I.Khan's recent trips to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), and China have somehow put a new sigh of releif in our economy. Economy is the main agenda on which our whole political system relies. In KSA PM Khan said that Pakistan will mediate in Yemen con- flict .He was also a key-speaker at the KSA's future investment initiative conference under the theme of "Dawn in the desert". While in China he assured president Xi of full baking to CPEC & regional connectivity. Following those, in the next week he went to Malaysia. What's Saudi loan exactly? Kingdom granted a loan of $12bn; $3bn for the foreign exchange reserves and $3bn worth oil for three years each, for which the MoU has been signed b/w Finance ministers Asad Umer and M.Abdul Jaddan. Hence, cur- rently $6bn will be granted which will decrease the dollar rate in open market. HOW PSX WORKS? Pakistan stock exchange (PSX) Karachi is a place where all international and national firms and companies invest their money. Whole the trade is carried out in the US Dollar. Let's learn how PSX works-suppose a company named "Unilever" wants to extend its business to India but has not much money for that. Hence, it will make partners in India say A,B,C and the company itself-total four i.e. company will sell its shares to the partners. Suppose company sold it's share for 2,500 per partner and four partners hence total balance of the company is now 1,000.After some time, company's business flourishes and now it's total income increases to 15,000,now the share per partner will be 3,750 from 2,500 as was earlier. If any partner wants to quit anytime, Pakistan’s Economy postmortem & dwindling South Asia GHULAM MUHAMMAD BHATTI Undergraduate of Department of Electrical Engineering, Q.U.E.S.T ghulammuhammad1298@gmail.com
  • 26. 26 he will sell his shares of the company to anyone else in the open market and a new partner will take his place. You may heard of "100 index ",it is the total balance of 100 large companies registered in the PSX. Daily trade is measure by points. If points exceeds 100 index it is said to be PSX in profit and dollar's rate is re- duced otherwise in loss and dollar high. Now question arises that how much one point costs?. Suppose the 100 index (total balance) as today was 50,000 and PSX closed at 25 points, then 100index divide by 25 points gives 2,000 as the cost of one point. SX is affected by uncertainty whether economical or political e.g. the day Panama case verdict was to be announced y SC,PSX was very low and as the PM Khan has announced the Saudi loan market was in swing. Balance of Trade (BoT) Difference b/w the values if imports and exports over a certain time. For better economy, exports must be greater than imports but our case is reverse b/c our export lack in quality, quantity and also expensive hence BoT not balanced. To compete in international market the other way is having huge foreign exchange reserves (FxR) but as our currency PKR is continually devaluing hence our FxR are also much reduced. To maintain this balance we often go for IMF bailout package-a financial support given by IMF to member states to get it out of the economic crisis. For trade Pak depends upon remittances-money sent by overseas Pakistanis to their homes in Pakistan, aids by different countries etc. In the wake of US sanctions on Iran over JCPOA (joint comprehensive plan of action) the oil prices in international :market have gone up.US have also stopped aid/CSF (coaltion support fund) to Pakistan worth $50bn in terms of ongoing WOT. Further, Pakistan has been included in FATF grey alleging non-cooperation in counter terrorism. Hence, to increase it's FxR,Pak will have to get IMF loan. Fin Minister Asad Umer went to Indonesia last days for a package of $12bn.In response, the IMF delegation came to Pakistan on 2nd November and the negotiations went round about for two weeks and finally ended incon- clusive. Close sources states the dead lock was due to strict terms from IMF :devaluation of rupee, increasing prices of oil and gas, and much more. However, the dialogue will be continued on video conferences and it seems Pakistan will have to go for bailout. The recent drift of US dollar against Pakistani currency on the last day f November shows big picture well .Don't forget our leaders have looted billions of dollars in money laun- dering and if it would have not done so, today we would have been donating to others. IMF? International monetary fund was established in 1944 soon after the world war two WWII to help out the war-torn states in economical is- sues. But, these loans aren't free. Once you have taken the loan now you will have to abide by it's all rules and terms. Therefore, many economists believe IMF as not a helper but a dictator due to it's hard policies. From where does IMF get so huge more?. Many in- ternational companies and leading economies fund IMF and are equal partner in the share. USA is the largest donor while others are Chi- na, Japan, UK, Germany, France.
  • 27. 27 What are IMF terms? IMF, once grants loan can have full check and balance on the donor state's all economic policies and budget i.e. often demands to decrease GDP from education and health sector etc. And if we fail to return all the mon- ey with full interest, IMF can take our projects our even privatize our institutions e.g. PIA, Pakistan steel mill (PSM) etc. Hence, many think going to IMF as surrendering our state's sovereignty. Circular Debts mantra? Loans are get to return the already taken debts, the practice in spite of decreasing the debts further increases hence circulation of debts. CPEC debts and Pakistan? CPEC is a gift to Pakistan but at a high price: an investment of $57bn with a much higher interest of 11%!!.Hence we have to return $57bn to China with all interests too. This will also increase our debts in the coming years, for which the taxes have been already included in the federal budget. Why should we not go to IMF this time? It would be much tougher to go for IMF package this time than that of earlier b/c of Pak-US strained rela- tions, FATF etc. since USA is the largest donor to the IMF. Rather, one or two other loans like that of Saudi one from other friends will be better. Pak-KSA ad Yemen KSA has helped Pakistan a number of times. In 1998 after nuclear tests bans, KSA granted $3bn and in 2014,$1.5bn.Note that, N. Shareef was PM both the times. In 2016,Saudi demanded Pakistan to directly inter- vene in Yemen, Pak refused and it annoyed the Saudis. Now, when its $12bn loan and FM Qureshi says no conditions are set by KSA seems quite awkward to listen as in today's give and take world there's no free lunch. However, in the past we have been "ever ready to serve" in the wake of aids....... “ BEQADRI TO HONI HE THI HUM HER WAQT JO MAYASSUR THY" Pak should not drag itself into the Iran-Saudi clash.PM says Pak will mediate in Yemen conflict but how it will and what will be Pakistan’s role are some questions yet to be answered. In international politics there're neither permanent friends nor foes but only permanent interests and similarly like all KSA has it's own inter- ests. If kingdom frustrated on refusing Pak Army troops to Yemen in the wake if $1.2bn,then think the re- sponse and demands after $12bn--not a rocket science to analyses.. Pak's ex-COAS Gen: Raheel Shareef is heading the 39-islamic states military alliance but Iran hasn't been included in the alliance. Iran's reservations have not been satisfactorily answered by Pakistan. KSA is build- ing a refinery at Gawadar. How can Iran bear KSA so close to it's border as a watchman siting in Pakistan. Further, TAPI and IP gas pipeline have not worked on by Pak as it should had to be. Till now,we h've almost failed to develop a balanced foreign policy in middle East (ME) hence, mediation is a million dollar question.
  • 28. 28 Yemen War? Iran succeeded in Syria & Iraq. KSA decided to shift Iran's attention by attacking Yemen. Now, Iran backs Houthis rebels and KSA is fully supported by USA, UAE. Yemen and KSA share 1,800KM long border and Iran has brought this war to the border areas close to this border hence war at home which is a serious tension for the Saudi kingdom. Now, KSA wants to get out of Yemen as a victor and for this it can go up to any limit. For which it has recently bought billions of worth arms, drones and fully supports USA in Jeresulem embassy shift and Iran's bans (JCPOA) .Recently KSA is under pressure due to journalist Jamal Khashoggi"s murder but in the longer run, USA needs KSA to counter Iran. CHINA AND MALAYSIA LINKS China would also have some interests as others. While last year, in Malaysia the president Najeeb Razak was dismissed on corruption charges and the veteran and ex-president Dr. Mahateer Muhammad re-elected. Soon after coming in power, Mahateer reversed many projects initiated by Najeeb and sponsored by China. Clearly, it was a serious blow to China's OBOR; one belt one road initiative. In response, China started to persuade Mahateer and to resume its projects. This is why it seems so as PM Khan went to Malaysia to the very next day after returning from China. THE WAY FORWARD In spite of Saudi loan, pak will have to get IMF package or from other friends. For the purpose, PM went to China on Nov 2nd.Even after this, we will have to improve our tax culture and legislate economic reforms and do some purposeful structural changes in FBR (Federal board of revenue). On the other hand Pak hasn't yet condemned Khashoggi's murder (killed at KSA consulate in Turkey). While note that it was Turkey only one in favor of Pakistan at FATF council. While honestly speaking it was KSA,USA and China that helped FATF council to put Pakistan in grey list. Hence, Pak will have to set out it's foreign policy as per the international dynamics and which way the wind blows. Also, parliament must be taken in confidence on the Saudi loan and IMF. On the long run, this loan is going to affect our foreign affairs in one or the other way but at present whether it is in Pak's interest or not is a separate debate but in need, indeed. Afterall, presently Pak is trapped in a situation like: "RAZIA PHANS GAI GUNDON MEIN"........
  • 29. 29 GLOBAL WARMING & CLIMATE CHANGE SHOAIB AHMED BUTT alishuaib48@gmail.com Global warming and climate change is a disastrous issue which is going to affect every living thing throughout the world. Global warming and Climate change may be described as the Gradual increase in the Temp: of Earth and the changes in the weather due to consequence of Green house gases effect and less evolution of oxygen in the atmosphere. It all is hapen- ning due to the human activities and their actions for personal interest. Further some of the causes of it are delivered below. Deforestation: In last two decades huge amount of trees have been cut down by the government to pro- long the road alignments although very little quantity of trees is planted after extending the roads. Wood ma- fia is also cutting the trees for their personal benefit which will harm their upcoming generations in future. There is no any fast and quick action for illegally cu ting of trees. In Pakistan forest area is very small as compared to the country area and recently, govern- ment has announced his policy to plant 1 billion trees in his five years tenure. Evolution of Carbon dioxide: In last 20 years, in- dustries are installed in huge quan- tity and carbon ra- diating en- gines are increased which causes gradual increment in the amount of Carbon dioxide in atmos- phere. The population is increasing vertically and hori- zontally day by day quickly and in spite of planting trees and cleaning the environment they are making atmosphere more dirty. In country side areas villagers are cutting trees and using them as a fuel for cooking food and other vegetarians, In this way trees are also reducing and ultimately amount of Carbon dioxide increasing which is damaging ozone layer badly. On one side these industries and vehicles are facilitating and working to reduce the human efforts although on other hand causing great loss on their lives. Many awareness programs to reduce global warming have been run and implemented by the government, business leaders, private sectors, NGOs and individals. To encounter this issue properly, Government must have to establish a policy with proper check balance of increasing forestation particularly near to industrial- ized areas and on the strips of the roads and in the rest of country, as the plants absorbs carbon dioxide and release oxygen. This will help in reducing Global warming. If any colony is going to be constructed newly then firstly plantation is done on large scale in- side it by the peoples of colony then the living is ar- ranged. We can easily come up with this issue, every- body has to be accountable. A policy should be made on self-help basis individually each one must plant a tree, look after it until it grows up rather than criticiz- ing the government. Thus by doing this a huge amount of trees can be planted simultaneously. Recently I was deeply impressed by a story I read about a prosperous village. Actually they have adopted the policy “A tree for a child” by their own minds. On the birth of child, a fruit tree is planted and handed over to the child when he/she became old enough to look after it. Whenever a baby is born, family should plant a tree to dedicate him/her. This will also feel them proud as they will see plants are going to grow with them. Gov- ernment ought to replace railway fuel engines by elec- tric engines up to certain extent. if we think seriously this could make our atmosphere green and free of sev- eral disastrous effects like increase in the various dis- ease, rising temperature etc. within two or three years. • 30. 30 The Moon, God created it. Then man conquered it. Nevertheless, it remains for many a sign of the Creator’s existence. For this lunar presence cannot be explained away by mere happenstance or, indeed, evolution. After all, scientists tell us that the composite mass of the Moon is as old as the solar system itself. Thus it is little wonder that the moon has mesmerized since the dawn of time. From the way in which lights up the night sky like nothing else in the heavens above. To its ever-changing form. Not to mention its primary function as regu- lator of life’s ebbs and flows. Let’s assume a world with thousands of the moons, providing the luminosity to different regions. Lets consid- er a Pakistani moon, an African moon, Chinese moon and so on. Yeah! It seems quite awkward but not a myth, as china seems so enamored with the Moon that it is making one of its own. A man-made experiment in the form of an illumination satellite that will be launched into space in 2020; capable of lighting up some 1,960 square miles. Thereby lending new meaning to the phrase: by the light of a silvery moon. In recent years, the People’s Republic of China has pushed forward with large-scale and ambitious ideas, from the construction of an eco-city outside Beijing to the form-defying Harbin Opera House. Now, the southwest- ern city of Chengdu, which is already famous for the stupid pandas that no body likes, hopes to launch an illu- mination satellite functioning as an artificial moon by 2020 . • 31. 31 Scientist are hoping to hang the man-made moon above the city of Chengdu, according to a report in Chinese state media. The imitation celestial body— essentially and illuminated satellite—will bear a re- flective coating to cast sunlight back to earth, where it will supplement streetlights at night. Scientists estimated that it could be eight times more luminous than the actual, origi- nal moon. It will also orbit much closer to Earth; about 500 kilo- meters (310 miles) away, compared to the moon’s 380,000 km (236,000 miles). But the ambitious plan still would not “light up the entire night sky,” Wu Chunfeng, chief of the Tian Fu New Area Science Society, told China Daily. “Its expected brightness, in the eyes of human, is around one-fifth of normal streetlights.” Wu estimated that new moons could save the city of Chengdu around 1.2 billion Yuan ($173 million) in electricity costs annually, and could even assist first responders during blackouts and natural disasters. If the project proves successful, it could be joined by three more additions to the night sky in 2022, he said. But much more testing needs to be done, Wu said, to ensure the plan is viable and will not have a detri- mental effect on the natural environment. “We will only conduct our tests in an uninhabited de- sert, so our light beams will not interfere with any people or Earth-based space observation equipment,” he told the Daily. China’s space goals are not unprecedented. In the 1990s, Russia experimented with using an orbital mir- ror to reflect sunlight on some of its sun-deprived northern cities, according to the New York Times. The project was abandoned in 1999 after the mirror failed to unfold and was incinerated in the atmosphere. In January, American firm Rocket Lab launched an artificial star into space, the Times reported. But scientists criticized the “Humanity Star,” as the reflec- tive mini-satellite was dubbed, for contributing to arti- ficial light pollution and cluttering in Earth’s orbit. A concern was risen that as this moon will be eight times more luminous than the actual moon, so it would affect the animal’s routine that relay on moon cycle. In reply to this concern, Mr. Kang Weimin, di- rector of Institute of optics, school of Aerospace, Hao- chin Institute of Technology, explained that light of this satellite is similar to dust-like glow so it should not affect animal’s routine. However this project will opens the gates of technolo- gy towards the whole world, if it succeed the every city will have its own moon, and sky will have a good company, but till that try watching the original moon.
