This document summarizes the rotor lifting process of a 3700kW, 47-ton motor with Siemens bearings. Key steps included removing the drive end side journal pads, lifting the shaft with a 100-ton jack, removing the non-reverse ratchets, NDE side housing, thrust runner lock, journal pads, thrust runner, thrust pads, air duct, and finally lifting the rotor. Important considerations for lifting included using calibrated instruments, certified lifting gear, and supporting the motor manufacturer's recommendations.
4. DE End Side bearing SMD bearing
First loose the Drive end Side all Journal Pads and measurement were noted
Place the Jack(100ton) under shaft for supporting the 15 ton , lift not
exceeded 0.50mm as recommended by Manufacturer
5. 1.Non Reverse Ratchet
Non-reverse ratchets at the top of motor prevent pump backspin when the power is
off and the column of water falls through the pump impeller. Depending on the well
depth, backspin can reach dangerous speeds if unchecked. As the water level falls, it
leaves the water-lubricated pump bearings without lubricant.
Two common types of non-reverse ratchets are ball ratchets and pin ratchets, both of
which work on the same principle.

8. 4.Journal Guide Parts
Guide pads are made of mild carbon steel (C20), with the working surface casted with tin based
Babbitt ZSnSb11Cu6.
SM and SMZ series bearings are designed with clearance adjustable tilting pads as standard, and
the assembly clearance can be adjusted by a SUND independent patented fine-tuning device
with scale, which makes installation and maintenance easier.
During the procedure of trial running and installation, stiffness and damping characteristics of
guide pads can be changed by adjusting bearing assembly clearance, so as to change the critical
speed of the system to achieve better system stability.
Always mark all the scale dimensions and note down the readings before removing the Journal
pads
Total number of Journal Pads are 8
Check for any marks or rubbing on the Journal pads, Journal pads are provided to keep the shaft
in Coaxial direction
10. 5.Thrust Runner
The runner, usually made of forging medium carbon steel, is connected to the
shaft by a tight shrink fit or by an SUND patented clearance eliminating device
to achieve effective connecting.
Always Use good hydraulic Jack(50 ton) and high strength Plate for removing the
runner, Use of hammer also
11. 5.1Thrust Journal Pads
SUND vertical thrust bearings are the round circular thrust pads made of mild
steel ( C 20), with the working surface made of tin based Babbitt ZSnSb11Cu6
to reduce surface wear.
These circular pads are supported by disk springs which ensure an
equalization of load distribution, thereby eliminating the trouble of manually
scraping caused by traditional rigid supporting structure.
it is easier and simple in installation and maintenance, also more reliable in
operating.
With springs, this kind of vertical bearing can effectively absorb the shock
load, therefore its stability and impact resistance are higher than the
traditional bearings with rigid supporting pads.
The thrust pads can automatically adjust its angle as per running condition,
so, they are also tilting pads and have the advantage of tilting pad bearings.

Maximum diameter in the mating site of shaft and runner
Rotation speed (normal speed and maximum speed )
