~~~ PAN-ASIA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Bangkok, Thailand
March 3rd, 2015
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Serhat Demir, and I am the director of Pan Asia International School in Bangkok. This document is
for the purpose of giving testimony to Fabrice Vanegas' contribution to our school and community.Fabrice worked for us
for four years, and we were sad to see him go at the end of last academic year, but we have remained friends,
understanding that he has chosen to pursue growing iTeach, a project of his, which he started from scratch a few years
ago.
Fabrice served as an IB Diploma high school teacher of Business Management and Theory of Knowledge. During
his stint with us he was a homeroom teacher, involved in the discipline committee, was head of the humanities
department. Fabrice also served as chair of the Professional Development committee. But he did not only focus his
energy on academics, Fabrice contributed greatly to other aspects of our school as well.
In 2012, Fabrice spearheaded our school's relationship with UNESCO, involving our students in a range of
UNESCO activities, this culminated in several ofthem receiving the prestigious title of UNESCO Youth Peace Ambassador.
He liaised with the Hiroshima World Peace Culture Foundation, which resulted in connecting our secondary school to a
live videoconference with their chairman and an A-bomb survivor. Today our school enjoys much stronger ties with the
institution.
On a technical note, Fabrice was directly responsible for connecting our school to the Google Education
program, which resulted in Pan Asia International School having its own Google Domain. Today we are happy to have
fully deployed our Google Apps and have transformed the way we communicate and collaborate with each other using
this powerful technological platform.
In terms of pastoral care, it has been very touching to see how close Fabrice has grown to his students and their
families, he is still considered by many as a part of our community regardless of him not being currently employed at
PAIS.
In short, I would not hesitate to recommend him to the highest possible standard to anyone who may be
reading this document. I would strongly suggest that you give him an opportunity to become a strong asset to your
organization. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
It is a couple of weeks since you and your iTeach team came and provided us with a
great day's training and I thought I might drop you a line to give a little positive
feedback; something we all need from time to time.
First of all, thank you for coming out to Chiang Mai and providing us with an
opportunity to offering "ethically priced" high quality training to the 60 Chiang Mai
teachers that attended. Prior to this we, and other local schools, had been sending
teachers to Bangkok, at considerable expense, and were therefore only able to train
a small number of our teachers.
Being able to have a shared training experience for the vast majority of our school's
staff has been transformational in the way Google Apps is used in our school -
Google Forms, Slides, and document collaboration has become endemic all of a
sudden! It is great to see the change that has occurred.
The way you communicated with me on the run-up to this event, the assistance with
marketing the day, and of course the high quality of the training, all combined to
make this a very positive experience for all involved. At a school Head's event I
attended only last week a number of people who had come from other schools to
attend our training day took the time to thank me for offering such an enjoyable and
worthwhile experience.
So, thank you - and I hope we can partner to provide more Chiang Mai- wide
training again in the future.
My name is Susan Lim Poh, I am the Principal of all three campuses of Singapore In ternational
School in Bangkok, Thailand. The purpose of this letter is to recommend Mr Fabrice Vanegas
and iTeach Thailand for training on Google in the classroom and educational applications of
ICT in general.
In October of2014, Fabrice conducted several training sessions for us in our flagship
campus. He trained 135 teachers in Google Apps. He also conducted a session of''Adobe
Acrobat Pro Ninjitsu", in which 24 teachers were trained in using this software.
The general feedback from staff was very good. Teachers were given useful knowledge
through hands-on training, ultimately students have benefitted from this. Today, tha nks to th e
effort of Fabrice and his team, our schools have fully "gone Google". We now have a Google
domain, which students and teachers are using to make the most of teaching and learning at
this school.
I would not hesitate to recommend Fabrice and iTeach to any institution wishi ng to receive
high quality EdTech training or anyone wanting to "go Google".
Sincerely,
~·Ms Susan Lim
Re: Letter of Recommendation
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Dear Sir / Madam,
This is to acknowledge that Mr. Fabrice Vanegas who has successfully completed a two-year Master of Education
in Educational Administration at St. Theresa International College, Thailand, as well as a BA (Hons) in Leadership
and Management from Northumbria University at Bangkok School of Management (NU’s official support center
in Thailand), studied under my tutelage for a duration of five years or so.
As a student in my classes, he displayed numerous excellent personal qualities such as diligence, punctuality,
team-spirit, and focused-attention when undertaking any task. He is a trustworthy person, and possesses a
friendly and caring personality, hence works well with others. When it comes to important things such as studies
and work, he employs self-discipline to carry out his responsibilities without any compromise.
At times, he may get upset with others who are not as hardworking or sincere as he is, but these are good traits
when it comes to encouraging everyone to work toward achieving organizational goals. Mr. Vanegas could be
trusted with complex and important tasks, as he is reliable and will make sure to complete any work given to him,
and produce high quality outcome.
As Mr. Vanegas proceeds on to seeking further education and/or employment that fits his qualifications and
personal characteristics, I wish him all the very best in the pursuit. From a professional point of view, I would
highly recommend Mr. Vanegas for any further education endeavor and/or any suitable professional position,
without any reservation. He would definitely be a valuable addition to any growing and progressive organization.
Any assistance rendered to him would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Dr. Edward Roy Krishnan
I had the pleasure of having Fabrice work in my company, OffRoad Adventures Costa Rica for a
year and a half. He was hired as our Business Development Manager, to my surprise his abilities
in marketing and publicity design were only second to his negotiation capabilities.
Not only did he make me very decent revenue, penetrating the local market ferociously, but as
importantly he saved me a lot of money.
I am very satisfied with the marketing material Fabrice single-handedly produced: Printed media,
shooting and editing video, as well as digital logo designs. But this was nothing compared to
what he did for me as far as brand identity and placement went. His negotiating with the major
tourism players in the area was key. He managed to get OffRoad Costa Rica on every desk of
every tourism wholesaler, hotel concierge, etc. He achieved rates from tour operators at a
fraction of what everybody else would have to pay, even wholesalers that have been in the market
for years. ·
His performance in EXPOTUR (Costa Rica's biggest tourism event) was also key, allowing us to
get the attention ofthe local press and Tourism Minister, Carlos Benavides.
I was sad to see Fabrice go when he went to start his own business, but even afterwards we have
kept in contact and he has further helped me whenever it was in his reach.
In short I would not hesitate in heavily recommending Fabrice Vanegas to any tourism related
position, he is a valuable asset to any company. He proved his worth time and time again and we
wish him the very best.
To Whom It May Concern:
Fabrice Vanegas has worked with us from the very beginning of our project. He has shown to be
a person with good work ethic, who has always done more than is expected of him. His
charisma and language skills have made him useful locally as well as internationally, he
represented us in SIMA, Madrid and Salon Immobilier de Paris.
He helped liaison with press and his ease for public relations greatly improved our image.
Fabrice is a creative individual who has an ability to deal with unforeseen situations. Never shy
to go the extra mile, he is definitely valuable to any organization.
He will be missed at Pacific Park and we wish him the very best on his new life in Thailand.
San Francisco Executives Fix Santa Rosa School by "Storm"
S anta Rosa, Guanacaste- Forty bay
area executives from the high-tech company
Fusion Storm, along with their respective
families, took the local elementary school
in Santa Rosa by storm as they rolled up
their sleeves to completely makeover the
school with new paint, needed repairs, and
landscaping. On top of all of that, Fusion
Storm created a computer lab with laptop
and installed proper security measures for
the lab.
The projectoffixing the schoolwas a result
of a vision and mission by Fabrice Venegas,
former owner of the Shangri Lounge, with
the help of his friend Ted Horwitz from Off
Road Adventures, who coordinated Fusion
Storm's vacation to Tamarindo.
Venegas mission to help restore and
improve the Santa Rosa school, which is
considered as a historical building and
cultural gem, began when he first started
volunteering for CEPIA. The more he saw,
the more he wanted to take matters into his
own hands and put all of his efforts, through
his former business, to raise the funds
needed to improve the school. Through
Vanegas' vision and Horowitz helpfulness,
Fusion Storm's generous way of giving
back to their vacation destination, was a true
success and the smiles on the students and
teachers faces proved it.
11. - The Howler - June 200838
A
coupleofyearsago
the village school
at Santa Rosa was
in very poor condition
and not at all conducive
to teaching children. The
school is 100 years old
and has an attendance of
130 children. The walls
were damaged, the wood
rotting with jagged edges
where planks were broken
and eaten away by termites; the electric system an absolute hazard
to students and teachers with uninsulated wires and exposed fit-
tings; toilets were primitive and without privacy; the building had
been burgled, the TV stolen. Aman who had been given money to
repair fences and window bars had absconded with the materials
and money. This situation was, unfortunately, common to schools
in many pueblitos and, in
most cases, the community
members don’t care enough
to get together and make
improvements. Fortunately,
this school has an angel.
Fabrice Venegas was fa-
miliar with Santa Rosa and
friendly with some of its
inhabitants. He took it upon
himself, with whatever help he could raise, to improve the condi-
tions for the kids. At his bar, Shangri
Lounge in Tamarindo, he and his friend
Svetlana held two fundraising parties
and raised other donations locally, and
in February, 2008, he started work at the
school. Since then he has laid cement,
rebuilt walls with drywall and repaired
electrics.
Then, onApril 21 a gang of new angels
flew in – from Silicon Valley, Cali-
fornia. Fusion Storm, a $500 million
hardware and software development
company, took the school under its
wing. Of the 350 employees seventy, paid for by the company
and led by the president
John G. Varel, came on
a four-day vacation to
Costa Rica, one day of
which was dedicated to
the Santa Rosa School.
“Geeks” would not be
a word I would use to
describe these people.
From 8 a.m to after-
noon they worked “like
prisoners” according to
Fabrice, painting almost
the whole school, repair-
ing broken walls, laying
ten truckloads of sand
and gravel and preparing
the ground for a computer
laboratory. “The best part
of our vacation,” said
Varel, “was helping the
kids at the Santa Rosa
School.”
In addition to the physical work,
Fusion Storm also donated six brand-
new ThinkPad lap-top computers to
form the basis for the Fusion Storm
Computer Lab, together with a wire-
less network. Fabrice hopes that the
lab will grow to 12 computers, and
asks readers to donate any equipment
– computers, scanners, power sup-
plies, etc – in good condition. The
lab will help children to be more
competitive in tomorrow’s work-
place. There are plans to set up a
scholarship program for each year’s
best student to receive an internship
in Silicon Valley. “Guanacaste is
being left behind by Costa Rica,” said Fabrice, “but we could be
seeing here the beginning
of something incredibly
positive, the start of a
whole new era in computer
literacy in Guanacaste.”
Fabrice wishes to thank
also Ted Horwitz of Off-
Road Costa Rica; Jon
Rosenblatt and Paul Cruz
of Pacific Park; Proycon
for construction of the lab;
architect Oscar Ulate.
Although much was accomplished by the task force, there are
still many improvements
needed – in structural
work, security, plumbing
andnewelectrics. Fabrice
would be delighted to re-
ceive assistance in any of
these areas. He can be
contacted at 8-981-4181
