Jason Bloomfield is a student studying game development at Full Sail University. He grew up in Jamaica and developed a passion for video games from an early age, influenced by games from Sega, Nintendo, and Rockstar Games. Bloomfield realized he preferred programming over game design due to his lack of art skills. His goal is to use his programming skills and knowledge to have a successful career in the gaming industry.
5. I have always loved and been fascinated by video games, and the breathtaking
feelings of accomplishment that they would create inside me.
5
6. That is why I am a Full Sail University student in the Game Development Bachelor of
Science degree program.
6
7. The three companies and their games that helped me unlock my passion for
videogames were: Sega with their Sonic the Hedgehog games, 20th Century Fox’s Fox
Interactive with Croc games, and Rockstar Games with Grand theft Auto: Vice City.
7
8. However, it was Nintendo and their awe-inspiring games that made me want to be a
videogame programmer.
8
9. As I was growing up, I discovered that I did not like design side of videogame
development, due to my lack of capable drawing and modeling skills, and the
monotonousness of their use.
9
11. As far back as I can remember, when asked “Where would you like to work?”, the first
company that would come to mind would always Capcom, for some reason. To this
day, Capcom still remains as one of my top employment choice, although I have not
yet discovered why.
11
12. Other companies I would like to work include: Nintendo, Sega, Square Enix, Koei
Tecmo, Atlus.
12
13. In addition, I would not mind working with smaller companies, or even with Indie
game developers.
13
15. I am determined. When faced with a challenge I will do my very best in order to
accomplish it.
15
16. I am a problem solver. I will always do my best to find a solution to a problem,
whether I’m trying to figure it out in code, researching the problem online or in a
book, or when discussing it with others.
16
17. I have good people and communication skills, and I will always contribute to a team.
17
18. I can be as patient as I need to be in order to fulfill a task. Despite any grievances I air,
I will continue to be patient.
18
19. I am very detailed and organized with my work. I do this so it is easier for others to
understand and change if necessary.
19
21. I plan to use my programming skills and knowledge to make my way across the
battlefield of the gaming industry. I will not stop until I claim victory and retire as a
coding veteran.
21
23. Success, to me, means earning fulfillment by doing your best. Whether your goals are
good or bad, you should always stand by and take pride in your work.
