Introduction
...................................................................1 Welcome to my portfolio! My
name is Evin Holstad, and I am
an aspiring designer pursuing
my degree in Design and
Innovation Management with a
minor in Marketing at Oregon
State University. Throughout
my time at OSU I have been
fortunate enough to be able to
participate in many design
project that are featured in this
portfolio. I have been able to
utilize my creativity and passion
for design to complete these
projects, and the skills I have
learned are invaluable and I am
excitied for the opportunity to
be able to apply these skills in
my career someday.

Renovation
........................................................
2 Myself and a team of 6
other students were
tasked by the University
Housing & Dining
Services at Oregon
State University to
design and renovate a
vestibule in the Finley
Residence Hall on their
campus. We were
involved in the process
from start to finish and
worked with a board of
clients to make
decisions and ensure
that everything was up
to the Universities
standards.
As.a team we used our
design knowledge, and
experience as students
to create a space that
would make students
feel welcome, and at
home in their new
environement, while
also creating visually
appealing elements that
would leave a lasting
impression.

Renovation
Process
..................................
3 When we began this
project, the vestibule
was a blank canvas, so
we began
brainstorming right
away. We initially
created 3 mood boards
with different styles
and elements that
could have possibly
gone into our design.
We then presented
these to our clients and
used their feedback to
combine elements
from each to create our
final design.
Once we had our final
design, we got to work
on sketching the
composition, and
researching and
aquiring materials. In
order to comply with
University standards
we hired a team of
contractors to build out
our design exaclty as
we had pictured it
8. I was tasked to create
a design for an ice
cream cup for a
hypothetical pop-up
shop for the brand
Salt& Straw. Through
research of the brand,
and creating various
mood boards and
word associations, I
came up with a theme
for this pop-up shop
selling ice cream in
the park "Something
worth melting for"
Based on this theme, I
came up with
inspiration for the cup
I wanted to make, and
created a rough
sketch. From there I
executed the design
using paper modeling
to create a prototype
for the type of ice
cream cup I would use
at this pop-up shop.

10. In addition to
creating a sample of
the cup that would
be used at the pop-
up shop, I also came
up with a story board
for the pop-up that
included all of the
elements I wanted
there to be at the
shop. I brainstormed
many ideas for how I
could tie the theme
into the event and
decided that I would
have it be themed
around a water park.
From there I created
a small-scale design
of one of the areas
that I would have at
the pop-up to create
more of a visual
example. I also drew
mock-ups of the
actual site where the
pop-up would take
place.

11. As a part of a group
project we were tasked
to plan a pop-up shop in
Corvallis, Oregon to
promote Nike and any
product of our choice.
After much research we
came up with the theme
of building confidence of
first year students at
Oregon State with the
tag line "Lets do it", a
spin on Nikes slogan
"Just do it". In this way
we wanted to promote
inclusivity and easing
peoples reservations
when it came to getting
in the gym and building
confidence when
working out. We created
a social media campaign
and created mock-ups of
the pop-up design and
shirts and shoes that
were to be sold there.
