3. The Bothnian Corridor
The Bothnian Corridor on both
sides of the Bothnian Gulf in
Sweden and Finland, is part of the
TEN-T Core Network.
It connects the Northern Axis with
the Scandinavian-Mediterranean
Corridor and the North Sea-Baltic
Corridor.
Important issues:
- Fulfilment of the Corridor
especially the North Bothnia Line
- Connect Bothnian Corridor with
the TEN-T Core Corridor
Scandinavian-Mediterranean.

- Kvarken Multimodal Link between Vasa and Umeå -
Main objectives
Strengthening a transport link connecting Finland and Sweden
• Fully integrated transport solution in
the Baltic Sea Region within the TEN-
T system.
• Providing wider benefits: LNG as ship
fuel, new innovative ice-breaking
technology.
• Improve the hinterland connections.
• Reliable transport connection
between several regions in northern
Sweden and western Finland.
