• 14 hours between a ‘Flood Guidance Statement’ and a ‘Flood Warning’
• A 91 year old lady decided to remain in her property but her daughter was
to receive updates.
• Police had no cause or power to remove her from her home.
• Updates weren’t received when flood waters rapidly rose from
approximately 12” to over 5 foot.
• Information regarding who had and who hadn’t been evacuated had not
been adequately tracked by the various responding agencies and as a
result, with great sadness, this lady was not rescued in time and
unfortunately lost her life.
