International Due Diligence
Certification 2016
24-26 Feb 2016, SINGAPORE
28 Feb-01 Mar 2016, U.A.E.
Instructor– Mr. L. Burke Files
 Overview & Introduction
Due Diligence—Empowering Better Decision Making
What is Due Diligence, why should it matter to you?
Everyone talks about due diligence, but we will share with
you how to think like a Due Diligence Professional.
 Course Objectives
To develop an understanding of how to evaluate asset
purchases and other transactions for signs of fraud and other
misconduct. To understand the context and measures to
combat corruption.
Upon completion of this course, students will not only
understand the types of investigations needed to vet asset
purchases but also the larger context in which anti-
corruption efforts take place. Those who complete the
course will receive a certificate from the International Due
Diligence Organisation.
“I am amazed at how my outlook on choice making changed. When I went back to work—using
some of the methods taught - I found three streams of fraud against the State” - James CPA Texas
“My eyes were opened to the systematic errors my compliance department was making by the rote
of checklists and screening software. In six months, using what I learned from a DDC, we reduced
compliance cost by half. Most of the time we spent was finding the errors we made—we are not
making those any more.” - Craig—Bank Compliance UK

Course Description
IDDO Certification
3 days
20 hours - 16 classroom hours
and 4 hours of homework with
case studies in teams.
Academic Integrity
All work is collaborative, but you
must work.
Progress is measured on the
success with case studies.
Class Participation
This class depends on active
participation by the students in
discussion and case study
development. If you do not
participate, the professor
reserves the right to penalize a
student’s course grade.
Attendance
Due to the collaborative and con-
densed nature of this class, class
attendance for all sessions is
mandatory. Any class absence
for any reason will result in ad-
ministrative withdrawal from the
class.
Goals & Purpose
The IDDO was founded with the pur-
pose of unifying the Due Diligence
industry through an evolving certifica-
tion designed to improve a profes-
sional’s ability to spot important infor-
mation and catch mistakes before
they happen. This springs from trying
to answer questions such as:
1. Why do intelligent people buy
fraudulent investment?
2. Why do “experts” fail in their
investigations?
3. What is a criminal and what can-
not they use their skills for good
as opposed to mischief?
4. Why we must not just experts
and studies but the underlying
methodology?
Class Size
16 - 32 students,
Ideally a team of
4 professionals each.
 Key Benefits of Attending
Attendees will be empowered to make better decisions
every day. From daily opportunities to complicated fraud
schemes, attendees will know how to more effectively spot
signs, ask questions and ultimately save you money.
Further, a person skilled in IDDO’s Due Diligence, can
improve an organizations ability to withstand regulator
inquires or threats of litigation. The point of the three days
of training is to change the way the professional think so
they think like Due Diligence Professionals. How many
audits miss fraud and massive fraud? How many times did
the SEC investigate Madoff and not find anything wrong –
(it was 3 times).
It is not that the professionals are stupid or incompetent,
they are not, they are very smart but they did not think as a
Due Diligence Professional or Expert.
The question is whether you can afford not to have Due
Diligence certified professionals watching over your
business?
