 Indian Food Ministry to impose 10% Sugar
import duty:
The Indian Food Ministry has proposed imposing 10%
import duty on sugar as India has surplus domestic
production. On June 30, the zero import duty regimes
expired. To boost domestic supply, the government had
 TRADING TIPS scrapped import duty on sugar in February 2009. Prior
to that the import duty was 60%.
