 This is not the case
 Keep in mind:

there are different fits– i.e. junior cut, unisex cut, etc.
 Different materials fall differently so just because you
wear a large top doesn’t mean you will like how one
material flatters you over another
 Each manufacturer has different measurements they
consider forTall and Petite lengths in the pants, too

5. COLOR NEEDED/WANTED
 Many places have specific colors you must wear when you work for them
 If your workplace does, be sure you know exactly what color(s) you are required to
wear and whether any deviations are allowed– i.e. do you always have to wear solid
colors or can you get prints that have the required colors and can you have trim of a
different color
 In these cases, you may still be able to express your personal style through your sock
and accessories
 If you have no restrictions on colors or patterns– the sky’s the limit
 Scrubs come in many colors and patterns so choose colors you are comfortable with
and look good in

 You do not have to have the same color top and bottom; you can mix and match
 When choosing patterns,be sure to get pants that will match both is and another solid
top you get so you can mix and match like you do in your regular wardrobe

 Each fabric material is good for certain things, knowing what to expect from each fabric can help you decide
which best suits your needs
 There are many materials that clothing can be made from, however, these are the most common seen in scrubs;
 Cotton:
 Pros: Breathable material that can wicking away sweat, soft to touch, great insulator, natural and hypo-allergenic,
can be dyed very bright colors, strong fabric
 Cons: Fades and shrinks easily with washing, is not very stretchy or forgiving for all shapes, wrinkles easily,
damages more easily in washing, colors may run, fades in the sun, can be a heavier fabric

7. MATERIAL CONTINUED
 Polyester:
 Pros:Takes less water to clean, does not fade or
shrink easily, very color-fast and durable, smooth and
silky feel, does not fade in the sun easily, strong,
lightweight fabric, dyes bright colors, does not
require a lot of ironing
 Cons: Not breathable without other fabrics being
combined, can be a shiny fabric, Stains can be very
difficult to remove if set-in
 Rayon:
 Pros: Silky and soft feel, breathable fabric, inexpensive
to create
 Cons: creases easily
 Spandex/Lycra:
 Pros: very stretchy/elastic, stain resistant, sweat and
oil resistant, light weight, strong, smooth, durable
fabric, little ironing needed
 Cons: Not breathable without other fabric mixed in,
can be slippery and unforgiving to all shapes, not heat
resistant
 Combined fabrics:
 Pros:You get the benefits of multiple types of fabrics
so this can get around many cons of the individual
fabrics
 Cons: can also get the cons of multiple fabrics in the
mix

8. MATERIAL EXAMPLES
 Rayon and Spandex/Lycra are usually used in
combination fabrics rather than alone– Polyester,
Rayon, and spandex
 Cotton
 Polyester

9. TECHNOLOGY
 That is correct– you didn’t read it wrong– some scrubs have technology:
 Fluid resistance
 Bacterial/fungicidal (actually kills them)
 Antibacterial (resists their growth)
 Moisture-wicking
 UV protection
 Determining your work environment will help you decide the importance of these technologies to you, but
understanding what each is and is not capable of is also important in making this decision

 Some scrubs have technology that may disappear after a certain number of washings and some are material
embedded and never wear out
