This diagram shows how salt is removed from the sea water to make it drinkable.
Firstof all, saltwatergoesinto a pre-treatmentfilterto remove some impurities. After that, the water
is forced through a membrane at high pressure to remove the salt. When the salt is removed the
unwanted seawater concentrate goes back into the sea.
Followingthisthe saltisremovedfromthe seawaterand itpassesto post-treatmentwithlime,chlorine
and fluoride tomake itsweetand drinkable.Afterthe waterpassesthese stagesit isplacedin storage in
a reservoir and after that it is integrated into the water supply system.
When the clean water has been separated from all of the impurities and salt and the seawater is
drinkable, the drink able water is placed in storage and goes to water companies.
