2. Reading (Town Centre)
Reading Town Centre is a good location to use for a post apocalyptic trailer as there
are derelict areas and empty warehouses. Additionally, Reading in the early hours
of the morning looks deserted as all the bin bags are around the trees and
newspaper is flying around. This is ideal as there is nobody around and thus looks
deserted. Finally, the town centre will help illustrate the scale of the devastation.
3. Reading (Tilehurst Woods)
• cut
The woods during the Autumn are good for illustrating a post apocalyptic landscape due
to all the leaves falling off of the trees. Additionally, it is dark and the trees are bare
making them look dead as if the area has been destroyed. Furthermore, the area is good
for long distance, pan shots that are common in post apocalyptic trailers.
4. Reading/Tilehurst (Train Station)
The train station in Tilehurst at night is a good place to get different camera shots.
At night the train station is completely deserted and there are flickering lights, this
coupled with the empty train tracks makes for an eerie, post apocalyptic feel. I have
taken inspiration from a specific part of the ‘Days Gone’ trailer which shows an
abandoned train track, this shot has a great impact on portraying the destruction
that has taken place and thus why I have chosen this location.
5. Car Park/Cars
Throughout Reading there are various abandoned and empty car parks that have heavy
weathering. These areas will become useful in my shots as they are already damaged
and looked damaged. Finally, at night the older car parks have lamp posts that flicker
which again adds to the atmosphere of the shot.
