1. A music video is a short film or video used to accompany a
piece of music, primarily to promote and market the sale of
music recordings, however sometimes created purely for the
artistic purpose. Thanks to MTV, music videos first became
prominent and popular in the 1980’s, however the origins
date back a lot later than this.
They include a wide range of styles and film-making
techniques including animation, live filming,
documenters, narrative and non-narrative approaches
such as abstract film. Some videos fuse two different
styles together or can use multiple styles throughout
depending on the effect they wish to demonstrate.
Finally, other music videos may be filmed without a set
concept and used solely to reflect a version of the song’s
live performance.
