  2. 2. The first ever music video was made using a gramophone by the band ‘Batcat’ who where famous for their experiments with electromagnetism , geodesic instruments and low frequency subliminal recordings. THE FIRST EVER MUSIC VIDEO first ever music video
  3. 3. A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic to purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made to be used a marketing device and are intended to promote the sale of music recordings. Even though the origins of music videos date back to musical short films first appearing back in the 1920s. They became more prominent in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Before the 1980s “music videos” where called “illustrated song”, “filmed insert” , “promotional film” and even “song clip”. HISTORY OF MUSIC VIDEOS
  4. 4. All music videos are made by some sort of an institution or brand label here are some examples of some popular institutions and brand labels: Sony Music , MTV, billboard , apple music and Universal Music Group MUSIC VIDEO INTUITIONS AND LABELS

There are many types of music video genre such as: Homage (an acknowledgment to something from the past) Animation (use of drawings to illustrate lyrics and meanings) Narrative (Sometimes there is an extended version of the music video in order to help develop characters or the plot. It tells a story throughout the video) Interpretive (It is a visual interpretation of the lyrics) TYPES OF MUSIC VIDEO

HOMAGE (AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT TO SOMETHING FROM THE PAST) HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A, ''HOMAGE'' MUSIC VIDEO: homage example video This video is a homage video as it is seen as a tribute to Tupac Shakur, this song was released ten years after his death. It features an actor playing the part of Tupac. It is basically a tribute towards the artist as his legend and his music is from the past. The video and song is acknowledging his death.
  7. 7. This is an Animation video as the video is animated. In their videos, Daft Punk use an animated style which tells a story and illustrates the song. This video contains scenes from the 2003 released Japanese anime film Interstellar 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem.   8. 8. narrative example video NARRATIVE (IT TELLS A STORY THROUGHOUT THE VIDEO) This is an Narrative video Taylor swift uses an narrative style which tells a love story this video contains romantic scenes which collaborate with the song “Love Story” going in and out of reality through the video where the two locations are outside her school and in a castle.
  9. 9. The video to, ''Walk'' by the Foo Fighters is a pastiche, it is quite similar to Parody and referencing, but Pastiche mixes the two together. This video is influenced by the 1993 film, ''Falling Down''. The video follows Dave Grohl picking up troubles along his journey.   10. 10. Music videos use a large range of styles of video making techniques, such as animation, live action filming, documentaries, and non-narrative approaches such as abstract film. Some music videos blend different styles, like animation, music, and live action. Many music videos interpret images and scenes from the song's lyrics, while others take a more thematic approach. Other music videos may be without a set concept, being merely a filmed version of the song's live performance. Bands such as bowling for soup use references to other bands in most of there music videos in a funny way to joke about them in a clever way that the audience can understand. VIDEO MAKING TECHNIQUES
