Reading is one of the language skills to be presented
below.
Remember that reading is one of the most important
activities that any good student does in any course of
study. It is important to note that reading is an active
process, you need to implement strategies that will
enable you to make sense of what they read.

3. Skimming
Is reading a text to get the gist, the basic overall idea,
rather than concentrating on absorbing all the
details. For instance, many people skim read a
newspaper article just to get a quick overview, or a
text could be skimmed to see whether it's worth
reading in detail.

4. Scanning
Is a reading technique where the reader looks for
specific information rather than trying to absorb all
the information. If you're reading a timetable, say,
you want specific information usually and so look for
something that is convenient for your journey plans-
when you do this, you are scanning.

5. Predicting
Prediction is point out what can happen or happen
according to a given situation or event. -This means
that no one reads the entire row or phrase and
predicts what will follow without reading.

6. Previewing
In character recognition, a process of attempting to
gain prior information about the characters that
appear on an incoming source document; this
information, which may include the range of ink
density, relative positions, and so forth, is used as an
aid in the normalization phase of character
recognition.
