There’s still time for you to do something about managing your finances while you’re still
in a relatively solid financial situation. It may not seem that important now but you will be
thankful for it once you experience a financial crunch anywhere in the near future.
One of the things you want to do is to get an idea of what your actual financial status is.
It’s not a complicated process – you simply want to know how much cash you have
going in and how much of it you’re spending for things and stuff.
You can definitely use the old paper and pencil method. If you’re more into computers
you can use financial applications that will simply let you input the amounts and it will
generate the reports for you.
Once you have the results you can see how much you make and how much you spend.
It can be pretty scary when you see the actual numbers especially on the amount you
spend on trivial things like that $10 cup of coffee.
Create a budget. For some this is a taboo word that should never be spoken but for the
sake of your financial stability this is a good idea. Don’t be mistaken with the belief that
a budget is a way to keep you from enjoying yourself. On the contrary, it is a way for
you to actually enjoy yourself more in the long run.
It’s not like a budget is some rigid rule that’s all set in stone. A budget is merely a guide
that actually gives you the flexibility to spend and allows you to channel your resources
to those that you need. At the same time it gives you a picture of what you can do so
you can have better control of your finances.
