Innovation Academy UCD
During my time in the innovation academy UCD Stephen’s Green I have been working in groups to
solve various problems that are both academic and real world – for example we helped Bette Migge
source funding for her Dico Guyane project. We pointed her to Scotia Bank and School In A Box to
help children in South America break the language barrier that was preventing them from being
taught by their French teachers. We also devised a funding campaign called, “Drumming Up Support
for French Guyana” by getting friends to video themselves tapping a rhythm on either a table or a
proper on an individual and groups basis.
My ability to illustrate and draw storyboards helps speed up the brainstorming process. When people
visualise what their hypothetical ideas look like, they can decide whether they are feasible or not.
When they see a rough sketch of the product on the wall, it’s easier to reach a consensus and goes a
long way to providing cohesion in the team.
I also help fellow students with the wording for their crowd funding endeavours and I design their
logos and even names for their fledgling companies.
