  1. The topic is everywhere and people are tired of talking about it. And much like compassion fatigue, caring hurts. You get frustrated by all this discussion not turning into meaningful action. It’s a fight that takes resources and energy, and it’s hard to stay committed when you’re barely seeing results. That’s when you see interest and passionate advocacy getting slowly transformed into passivity and tuning out.” The sheer number of issues that need to be addressed is daunting. From sexism and racism to ableism and ageism, the fight for D&I is a battle on many fronts. Matters can be complicated further by internal disagreements over what to focus on. “Trying to address them all at once is obviously not a recipe for success, but people don’t know where to start. And the feeling that you can’t make an impact as just one person or one company can lead you to stop taking action altogether,” she says. “We’re worried about representation and neglecting distribution. We’re over-indexing on getting underrepresented individuals in the door and under-indexing on including them once they’re here. 
  2. Look at the slide? Does it resemble the Todays you or it is you in future. It is depiction of all of us. The pace of change in the world is becoming unprecedented and it will not slow down soon. Science fiction have now become facts. Today is the world of ubiquitous Disruptive innovation. New work forms have created gig-workers and the virtual employees need new solidarity and approach . Today job roles are replaced by skill set and the verdict is leverage technology before it leverages you. So in wake of disruptions what is foremost needed by new generation and new education system is : Overcoming the Fear and the Imposter Syndrome: (Phenomenon where successful people doubt their own competencies) give psychological safety Integrated Societal model – Augmented Collaboration which will come from Multiple Intelligence – A concept by Howard Gardener. Principles of Co-oexistence- Diversity of technology and human, theory and Practise, Arts and Science, Maths and History and this is the new Darwinism HBT economic Value of people (Human, behavioural and technological )- The need is to reinvent the skiills , competencies and traits of this generation.
  3. When we see the glimpse of the future the demands for the new generations are different and unlike us the competition is brutal, ruthlessless. The competition will not be human to human , it will be rather machines with Humans. And remember Machines don’t wait, they don’t watch Netflix and they can analyse your DNA and Siri can know your voice. So you and I as Faculty members have a greater role to play for the new generation. It is no longer the big beating the small , it is rather the fast and the furious beating the slow. So we have to teach the millennials the theory and practice of speed. Traditional Education system will not suffice, academia must keep up with changing industry. Students must learn to learn and unlearn as well. They must develop both high technological and social cognition.
  4. Our kids have grown up seeing, and experiencing in the virtual life the unusual heroes – The Super Man and the BatMan of Marvel Comics…….. As a character, Nolan's Batman has been intriguing, captivating and inspiring. He surprises me with his skills, disappoints me with his decisions, stupefies me with his tactics and make me empathize the life he chooses to live after whatever his destiny endowed him with. Nevertheless Batman, and the people who made his life symbolize numerous lessons and Oriental wisdom. Coming to this slide , I want all of us to pause here…………admiring its ambitious art, its loops and curls, this spiral sewn of silk and steel and the dancing spider on the threads of the web. Learning lessons for us today on which we should build our co-curriculars are : If you’re a spinner, spin- A web weaver will always weave — it will not decide to suddenly chase its prey on multiple spider and this is a lesson for us to learn that we need to continuously grow and barely classroom teaching will not make us street smart. 2. Walk the line- Spiders spin two types of  Dragline (or non-sticky) silk is the architectural support for a web. Stiff and dry, it forms the web’s foundation. Viscid (or sticky) silk is the tacky, wet, flexible silk that creates the spiral shape of many webs. It’s this stickier silk that snares the spider’s prey. When walking their webs, spiders traverse the draglines, avoiding trapping themselves on the stickier strands of viscid silk. Lets create Draglines and Viscid lines both in form of Academics and Co-curricluars both. 3. Build with beauty, build for beauty- These are so intricate webs that rival — or exceed — human art. Some times we need to develop personalities of students for shere beauty, a holistic personality will brighten up our life. 4: Do the work, daily - Web-weavers are especially industrious. For these spiders, the larger the web, the greater the energy expenditure. However, the cost-benefit is also high, for the larger the web, the greater the likelihood the spider will catch large prey — whether in the form of an uncommon insect, a bat, or even a bird!
  5. We start enjoying the gender imbalance and our gender identity and later we are the ones who fight for them . Let us accept that Gender is everywhere: on your birth certificate, suffixed to your name, you cant enter the washrooms with out the genedered doors. Let me share Gender Inclusion and Diversity is not about women or men alone, it is about both. But the crux of the matter is we are made to learn to ”Get comfortable with falling uncomfortable” and we start accepting and also generating the partial truths. Diversity Concepts have also evolved and Diversity today means Mosaic made of varied combinations of Ethinicity, gender, race etc. But concept of Diversity has eveloved over a period of time from the “Melting Pot” ( In this becoz of amalgamation the ingredients loose the originality) to the “Tossed Salad” ( Each one retains its original taste and yet they are garnishing each other)

  7. Where can it go wrong – talk about inclusion as it can only be a good thing? People confuse inclusion and involvement – end up involving a bunch of people that then feel excluded because they didn’t agree with the end decision.
  8. We set up all these different groups at organizations – women’s leadership, LGBT groups, various minority groups. But what do we actually do with their input? How do we involve them in the organization’s goals or direction? Or do we just view them as places where they can go to discuss what it’s like to be in a minority group at this company?   10. We see this a lot in sales or creative functions. The high performer or loan wolf has a certain type of behavior that we ignore because it is beneficial for the business. If any of you watched Mad Men I’m sure you’d agree that Dom Draper wasn’t the most inclusive person in the world… So how can our leaders help

Academics will make students as linears formats Co-curriculars will create two types of students according to me: Well rounded : Focus on all activities but may not excel in any Well Angled : Focus on few activites and will create and angular presence. In all sense this will be fruitful and will have an impact in the following way:
  12. Let us not forget how Steve Jobs helped Apple achieve true innovation at the nexus of the applied and social sciences, technology and the liberal arts. Real innovation is multidisciplinary and we can initiate this progress loop with the smaller wins: Use the know- Be-Do model and try to propel the direct and indirect observation and inquisitiveness of the students through projects , ID role plays etc Give mindframe a chance to help reframe the mind and this will be done by placing a problem in front of the students. This is the world of remix and we need to encourage the multilinear learning. Convergence not only drives new ideas but also has a multiplier effect in the sense that the optimum utization of resources is taken care of. Service learning- Service learning that involves community projects that occur during class time falls under the category of multidisciplinary integration. Such programs foster a lifelong commitment to civic participation, sharpen “people skills,” and prepare students for the work force. allows the students to explore patterns from the perspective of one discipline—math, language, science, or social studies. As students move through the learning centers to complete the activities, they learn about the concept of patterns through the lenses of various disciplines. Case studies are like boot camps and back pack trips which have the power for sparking the creativity.
