Who is Marathon Petroleum Corporation? 
Headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC), is one of 
the largest petroleum product refiners, marketers and transporters in the United 
States. 
MPC is the nation’s fourth-largest refiner and the largest refiner in the Midwest. 
MPC’s refining, marketing and transportation operations are concentrated primarily 
in the Midwest, Gulf Coast and Southeast regions of the U.S. 
MPC operations are strategically located to serve major markets. They include a 
seven-plant refining network, a comprehensive terminal and transportation system, 
and extensive wholesale and retail marketing operations. This includes both the Mar-athon 
Brand and MPC’s wholly-owned retail marketing subsidiary, Speedway LLC, 
the nation’s fourth-largest chain of company-owned and -operated retail gasoline 
and convenience stores.

Supplier Selection Criteria 
Marathon Petroleum Company’s Global Procurement organization and Speedway’s 
Purchasing and Commercial Services organization manage the competitive bid 
process to efficiently obtain goods and services from outside sources. Successful 
supplier candidates for MPC should demonstrate the following qualities: 
• Excellent safety record 
• High ethical standards 
• Financial viability 
• Competitive and “value added” capabilities 
• Ability to comply with insurance requirements 
• An understanding of MPC’s business 
• Quality procedures and processes, ISO, or others appropriate to the industry 
• Technology, cost or service advantage over other companies 
• Innovative delivery of goods or services, e-commerce, EDI, etc. 
• Minority or woman-owned enterprise or small business enterprise certification 
MPC reserves the right to select suppliers who will participate in the procurement 
process. MPC cannot and will not promise to transact business with all suppliers. 
We anticipate that all suppliers will honor the MPC Code of Business Conduct and 
demonstrate compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and transportation 
laws and regulations. 
How to Qualify 
Suppliers interested in pursuing procurement opportunities with MPC and its affili-ates 
are encouraged to: 
• Become certified as a minority or women-owned business enterprise or small 
business enterprise with one or more of our recognized certification organizations. 
• Certification is accepted from the following organizations and their regional affiliates: 
– National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) 
– Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) 
– National Women Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) 
– Small Business Administration (SBA) 
• Complete the Supplier Registration Form and upload copies of your certification 
documents on our website at www.mpcsupplierdiversity.com/qualification 
• Learn about doing business with large 
corporations by attending various seminars and workshops. 
• Understand MPC’s operations, processes 
and commitment to high ethical standards.
