2. Traffic signals and road signs are things
that all of us are very familiar with as we
travel from here to there with much regularity.
They are things that often become objects that
we somehow react to almost subconsciously.
We have become so accustomed to them that
we usually have to give little, or no thought to.
We just react to them. To not respond to them
can cause accident, arrest, injury, etc.
In the spiritual arena, there are also some
signals and signs that we all should learn to
respond to in like manner. They should cause
an automatic response on our parts. Please
consider with me the following instructional
“road signs” which God expects complete
obedience to.
GO
In the gospel of Mark we are admonished to:
“…Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature.”
Mark 16:15
The first two letters of “gospel” are “go”.
This simple admonition should be easily
understood by all as a command, not a
suggestion.
3. STOP
Another travel instruction that one must
speedily comprehend is the stop signal, for
obvious reasons. In the Bible, the same truth is
taught throughout, in reference to spiritual
pitfalls to avoid.
Taught by principle throughout the Bible is
the basic concept that sin should cease, and
living Christ-like lives should begin.
“…the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
Ezekiel 18:4
“ We know that whosoever is born of God,
sinneth not;…”
I John 5:18
YIELD
Yielding is referred to in the Bible in
several differing ways. We are told to NOT
YIELD in certain areas, and to YIELD in
others. In Romans 6:13, Paul writes that we
are to quit yielding our members as
instruments of unrighteousness unto sin and
to start yielding ourselves unto God. This
simply requires a turning from one to the
other.
4. Much is taught in the Bible in reference to
“right”. Starting right Is obviously the point of
reference in regard to all of the rest. “Doing right”,
“keeping right”, “finishing right”, etc. are some of
these things.
Start Right
Admit that you are a sinner.
-“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God.”
Rom. 3:23
Turn from your sin.
-“Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish”
Luke 13:3,5
Trust in the finished work of Christ on the
cross.
-“For there is none other name under heaven given
among men whereby we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12
Receive His free gift to you.
-“…that whosoever believeth in him should not
perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
5. DO RIGHT
KEEP RIGHT
Another “right” topic that is dealt with
throughout the Bible, both in theory and fact,
is the admonition to “do right” & “keep right”.
-How we conduct ourselves in our daily walk
is something to which we all should give
heed.
“…Walk worthy of the vocation
wherewith ye are called.”
Ephesians 4:1
“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
I Corinthians 10:31
“…This is the way, walk ye in it…”
Isaiah 30:21
“…Choose ye this day whom ye will
serve…” Joshua 24:15
6. FINISH RIGHT
Finishing right is certainly, or should
be, in the forefront of everyone’s thinking.
To conclude life’s race with winning
credentials is dependent on many things.
Some of these things have been mentioned
briefly in the preceding paragraphs. It is
clearly critical that one have knowledge of
these things. It is, however, extremely
much more critical that one not only know
them, but actually put them into practice,
habitually.
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do
good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
James 4:17
