2. Directions are always necessary as plans are made for travel. This is
especially true when leaving for a place where one has never been before.
When inquiring about routes to that desired destination, it is extremely
important that accurate instruction is given. How frustrating it is to travel
for a very lengthy period of time, only to discover that the directions you were
given were inaccurate.
When thinking about eternity and what lies ahead for everyone, it is also
a very important matter to consider critical issues such as:
•What are my options?
• Do I have any power to decide?
•Are there any alternative routes?
•When do I have to make my decision?
•Can I change my plans in route?
•Do all routes lead to the same
destination?
3. As we begin examining some of these topics, it should be noted that
there are many, opposing views regarding each of these. While
recognizing that each individual certainly can make his own choice in
reference to each, it is my purpose herein to state what the Bible says
about the matter. This, by the way, is the only answer which is
completely accurate, regardless of what one may think about it.
1. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?
__ To choose nothing
__ To choose the desirable way (Heaven)
__ To choose the undesirable way (Hell)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13
2. DO I HAVE ANY POWER TO DECIDE?
__ Contrary to common belief, YES
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons
of God,…” John 1:12
4. 3. ANY ALTERNATIVE ROUTES?
__ While many dispute this today (in the name of inclusiveness), the Bible
says that there is ONLYONE WAY
Jesus Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
“…there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved. ” Acts 4:12
4. WHEN SHOULD I DECIDE?
__ The Bible nowhere supports the idea of ability to decide one’s destiny
after present life end
__ After death will be too late
__ Physical, mental, emotional capacities may be diminished late in life
“…behold, now is the accepted time; …”
II Corinthians 6:2
5. CAN I CHANGE DIRECTIONS IN ROUTE?
__Yes, if done prior to departure from this life.
“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”
Proverbs 8:17
5. 6. DO ALL ROADS LEAD TO THE SAME
END?
__ No. Foreign concept to the teachings of the Bible.
__ Man, regardless of how intelligent he may presume to be,
can never “outsmart” God.
“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end
thereof are the ways of death.” Proverbs 14:12
ADMIT:
•THAT YOU ARE A SINNER IN NEED OF SALVATION
•THAT YOUR ONLY HOPE FOR HEAVEN IS IN JESUS CHRIST
•THAT YOU MUST REPENT (TURN FROM) YOUR SIN
•THAT JESUS CHRIST WILL SAVE ALL WHO COME TO HIM IN
FAITH
•HE IS ABLE TO “SAVE TO THE UTTERMOST”
•HE NEVER LOST A CASE
6. “For all have sinned, and come short of
the glory of God;” Rom. 3:23
“…There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Rom. 3:10
“But God commendeth his love toward
us, in that, while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:8
“That if thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
in thine heart that God hath raised him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Rom.10:9
“…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish.” Luke 13:3,5
“For the wages of sin is death; but the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.” Rom. 6:23
“For by grace are ye saved, through
faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: Not of works, lest any man
should boast.”
Ephesians 2:8-9
