Diane von Furstenberg (keynote speaker): Diane von Furstenberg first arrived in the
fashion world in 1972 with her iconic wrap dress, the seed of what is today a full fashion
house. By 1976, Diane had sold millions of her dresses, coming to symbolize female power
and freedom to an entire generation. In 1997, after a hiatus from fashion, Diane reemerged
on the New York fashion scene with the re launch of the dress that had started it all and
began building her company into a global luxury lifestyle brand. Today, the DVF collection
includes ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags, accessories, eyewear, swim, DVF by H. Stern fine
jewelry and watches, rugs, home and luggage. In 2005, Diane was awarded the Lifetime
Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for her
impact on fashion, and one year later, was elected the CFDA’s new president, an office she
continues to hold. A firm believer in the infinite power of women, Diane sits on the board
of Vital Voices, a women’s leadership organization that empowers emerging women
leaders and social entrepreneurs around the world. In 2010 she established The DVF
Awards with The Diller- von Furstenberg Family Foundation to honor women who have

event aims to provide the honorees with exposure and support.
David B. Herzog, MD: Harvard Medical School Endowed Professor of Psychiatry in the
field of Eating Disorders; Director, Harris Center at MGH; internationally renowned
expert on eating disorders, credited with over 250 publications, and board certified in
Pediatrics, General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry; author of Unlocking the
Mysteries of Eating Disorders: A life-saving guide to your child’s treatment and recovery.
The Harris Center for Education and Advocacy in Eating Disorders at MGH’s 14th Annual
Public Forum is presented in conjunction with Massachusetts General Hospital and
Harvard Medical School. The Forum serves to educate and promote dialogue concerning a
variety of topics related to eating disorders such as fashion, self-image and self-esteem.
After the presentation, the forum will open up to receive questions from the audience. For
the past thirteen years, nearly six thousand attendees – typically Boston and Cambridge
students, professionals, and families – have heard diverse programs presented by
impressive speakers like Anna Wintour, Michael Kors, Natalia Vodianova, Natalie
Portman, Geri Halliwell, Kate Dillon, Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund, etc.
The Forum is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is required.
