• We make decisions about the next year
• Sometimes we try to change too many things at
once and end up letting go because it gets too hard
• 5 minutes saved on one task compounds and can
make a huge difference across the course of a
year…..

• Here are 5 Simple things you can apply in 2022 that
will mean by the end of this year (or in 12 months
time), you are more productive than you are right
now!

Tip 1 –
Calendar View

• Most people open their email as soon as they arrive at work.
• The result is you often become distracted resulting in your day being
driven by other people’s priorities rather than your own!
• Change your email program to open in calendar view
• Then every time you open your email program, the calendar displays
and reminds you of YOUR priorities for the day!

Tip 2 – Meeting

• Most meetings get scheduled for a default 60 minutes.
• Make your default meeting 45 minus long – it will give you back a
extra 15 minutes to write notes, take action or complete another
task with out back to back meetings which end up in your having
to do reports, tasks or action items out of hours!
• As an added bonus, if you are doing virtual meetings, give yourself,
and those attending, permission to end the meeting early if you
have achieved meeting objectives!

• Leverage your email program’s inbuilt Rules to automate common
tasks such as filing sent messages or automatically redirecting emails
such as newsletters to folders for you to read when you want to.
• Rules act like road workers directing traffic to go in a certain
direction, except they are directing your non urgent emails to other
folders so that your inbox only contains the important items!
NOTE: Rules can be used to atomate so many things. It is worth taking
time to review all the options in your program. An investmenntof10-15
mins could save you hours across the course of a year!

Productivity isn’t always about adding more,
sometimes we need to take things away or
stop doing them to increase our
productivity!

• Consider things that you do regularly that no longer add value.
Perhaps you did them when you first start your job but they are
no longer necessary.
• Sometimes we keep doing the same things because that’s the
way we’ve always tone hem…if it no longer serves a purpose or
adds value to your work or process, maybe tis time to discard it!
If you work in an organisation or team, it may be worth conferring
with others who might be impacted before you stop doing a
process.

Tip 5 – Switch Off
Ever had some of your best ideas in the shower, on a day off or whilst
you were on vacation? There is a reason. When you are switched off
from your daily routine, you recharge and become more creative.
• Give yourself, or your team permission to switch off
• Don’t respond to emails after hours or on weekends
• Choose to set your cell do no ot disturb out of hours
• Use “out of work hours” to recharge your mind, body and spirit so
you bring the best version of YOU to work everyday!
