The history of the American and European gardening movements can be traced back to the
end of the 19th century, when allotment gardens were seen by the clergy and the dominant
classes as a healthy occupation that could help improve workers’ health but also, from a
paternalistic point of view, lure them away from pubs and render them more productive
(Dubost, 1997).

My main goal
actually is to show
that living in a city
can look different
than just working
and going to clubs.
you can enjoy more
your life in this way. !

Especially younger generations should have
some alternatives to clubbing, drinking and
getting polluted…Gardening is all these
together.

For me community
gardening means taking
part to the urban renewal of
Budapest. Leonardo is a
green oasis in a depressed
neighbourhood…. and for
me preserving this area has
a lot of value

The ﬁrst thing that comes to
mind…. is the urban
renewal of Budapest..I
mean….to be able to maintain
a green space in the heart of
Budapest. The second is taking
part to the community
life… being part of a
community of people who
share similar interests. Also,
the healthy veg that I take
home… and then it's so nice to
go out…to spend a sunny day
in a green place….

You have a direct relationship with the
nature and so with the climate… you
learn to see how plantsreact to
changing climate
conditions. And I'm happy because
when you live in a big city you usually
don't not have this perception of
the nature….
