5. We live in a world that has practiced violence for
generations - violence to other creatures, violence to
the planet, violence to ourselves. Yet in my garden,
where I have nurtured a healthy soil-plant community,
I see a model of a highly successful non-violent
system where I participate in gentle biological
diplomacy rather than war. The garden has more
to teach us than just how to grow food.”

9. The history of the American and European gardening movements can be traced back to the
end of the 19th century, when allotment gardens were seen by the clergy and the dominant
classes as a healthy occupation that could help improve workers’ health but also, from a
paternalistic point of view, lure them away from pubs and render them more productive
(Dubost, 1997).

22. When people put so much
efforts to grow their own
food…they can see how
much work there is
b e h i n d a n y s i n g l e

more aware about what
they eat, how much food
they waste…

23. I
Urban gardening can give you a
feeling of the nature…it can help
you to escape from the
stress of everyday life.
You know… most people
live in big cities so we have
to found new ways to change
these cities and preserve our
connection with the land, a
connection with the
environment
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
24. “When I moved to Budapest I
know I needed more people
around me. Since I became
gardening, I have made new
friends and we call each other,
we speak on the phone.
Normally, I would have never
meet some of them but now we
have something in common…a
common purpose… “
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
25. My main goal
actually is to show
that living in a city
can look different
than just working
and going to clubs.
you can enjoy more
your life in this way. !
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
26. Especially younger generations should have
some alternatives to clubbing, drinking and
getting polluted…Gardening is all these
together.
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
27. For me community
gardening means taking
part to the urban renewal of
Budapest. Leonardo is a
green oasis in a depressed
neighbourhood…. and for
me preserving this area has
a lot of value
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
28. The first thing that comes to
mind…. is the urban
renewal of Budapest..I
mean….to be able to maintain
a green space in the heart of
Budapest. The second is taking
part to the community
life… being part of a
community of people who
share similar interests. Also,
the healthy veg that I take
home… and then it's so nice to
go out…to spend a sunny day
in a green place….
KÉK SROI STAGE 1 STAGE 2 STAGE 3 STAGE 4&5 STAGE 6
29. You have a direct relationship with the
nature and so with the climate… you
learn to see how plantsreact to
changing climate
conditions. And I'm happy because
when you live in a big city you usually
don't not have this perception of
the nature….
