Diversity Synthesis Essay
"Ethnic Diversity adds richness to a society."–Gary Locke. Diversity is essential to our national identity, and diversity does create unity. Diversity
today and in the past have always been a huge affect and part of society. Different races, sexes, and religious beliefs for some reason affect many
people. Diversity creates unity, and it helps one another grow stronger. The picture of the different races holding the American flag (Source 1), showed
that all religions, sexes, give honor to America by holding the American flag. No matter theirrace, religion, sex, these Americans are "equal". "That is,
I don't have white skin or white ancestors. I have yellow skin and yellow ancestors." (Source 2) The name and color of skin, is what bothers...show more

Different social class, religion, and races all have different beliefs than one another and that is what causes the arguments. "Middle–class supporters of
public bilingualism...", (Source 3) shows that the poor get less than the rich. That is not fair at all! The "standard" english is spoken well by the
higher classes but low by the lower and poor classes. "Because I hate assimilationist negroes!" (Source 4) People who say this are the ones that start
the arguments. Everyone calls everyone names, based on their race, religion, and social class. This right here is why people fight everyday. This
is still a problem we are facing today. That is not at all the correct way to talk to other people. Some individuals, just think that the only way to go is
their way, that their religion, class, sex is the only one can ever choose from. Diversity is important, everyone should be treated equally no matter
what color your skin is or what color your ancestors are. Everyone should unite! This world should not be separated based off of your color, religion,
and class. All individuals should be able to have their own thoughts, and still be able to be united with each and every person. Your skin color, social
class, religious beliefs should not

Unity in Diversity Skit
Good morning to one and all.
We all know that India is not only known for technology industries but also because of it's variety of people, numerous languages, multiple customs and
traditions; different races with different faces and marvelous landscapes. These always project India among other countries like "unity in diversity".
Most of us never know about northern states and North Indians like vise– versa but yet we join hands to support any sensational news created by media
like Anna Hazare's corruption movement. We never know how many languages are exiting in our country. There are about 28 states each have its own

Essay Draft #3 Unity in Diversity Maya Angelou once said that "In diversity there is beauty and there is strength." Have you ever thought how
beautiful and powerful are diversities in this world? We have lots of colors in this world, tons of people come from a different place, ages,
economics, ethnic and cultures. But before we go deeper into that, although I am pretty sure that most of you have known what is diversity, in case
some of you are still wondering what is it, I am about to tell you then. Diversity can be defined as a variety or difference. Every human being has
their own uniqueness by which it means, we all are different, these differences like ages, and religion as an example, can be found at any place, at
home, park, or even college campuses. Diversity on campuses will impact society by being more respectful, open–minded, and increasing our
knowledge or skills in order to make a peaceful world.
Having a different culture on campuses, like Foothill college, affects the society around them by interacting with each other, like the society in either
Los Altos Hills or Mountain View. Foothill College is one of the best community colleges, here in the United States, located in the Los Altos Hills, that
have lots of international students coming from different part of the world. Besides native American, there are Indonesian, Hispanic, Chinese,
Japanese, Germans, Russian, African, and a lot more. Being exposed

Unity And Diversity In America Today
Today in America, we live in a country that honors freedom, and diversity. Over the past century, there have been many conflicts throughout the
world due to nations differing views about important issues such as freedom, economics, and a need for power. As a new nation, the United States
had to figure out where it stood and how it fit into the larger scheme of the world. As older countries who were closer to each other geographically
fought over borders and religion and conflicting ideologies, America had an opportunity to align itself with established nations whose way of life
matched closest to what we wanted to be. The modern world we live in today, has been shaped socially, economically, and culturally by past conflicts
and wars, most

Essay On Diversity And Diversity
In the age of globalization, harmony within diversity should be nurtured and cherished by the modern society. According to www.dictionary.com,
diversity is the state or fact of being diverse; different or unlikeness". The word "diversity" can be used to describe myriad of situation in this world.
However, it is commonly used to express the diversity of culture in a country. Harmony within diversity can be translated as peacefulness among
multiracial societies that live together in a country. Fortunately, people inMalaysia, our beloved country practice harmony within diversity. In my
opinion, the importance of the nurturing and cherishing of harmony within diversity in our country is uncountable.
First and foremost, harmony within diversity of culture in our country is the main key to promote unity among races. Unity...show more content...
Our country's peacefulness among people is always admired by the foreigners. It is our honour to live together happily regardless of race, cultural
background and mother language. AsiaNews had reported that Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is our Deputy Prime Minister in 2006 had said that the
United Kingdom is keen to learn from the Malaysian experience in promoting tolerance and harmony amongst its many ethnic groups by quoting his
British counterpart, John Prescott, who began a four–day visit on October 28, 2006. In addition, the fusion of our people's cultures is also an attraction
to foreign travellers. For instance, architecture in Malaysia is a combination of many styles, from Islamic and Chinese styles to those brought by
European colonists. Baba Nyonya households which are made of colourful tiles is becoming popular among travellers recently. The combinations of
our people's cultural food also become a merit of our nation. Thus, the spirit of harmonious in our people had success in bringing honour to our country

Unity In America
The America I Believe In Oliver Kemper said, "The foundation of freedom is unity." So if we want America to stay free, the first thing we need is
unity. I believe in an America where we are unified as one. Unity will create more harmony in America. After 9/11, America was unified and all were
patriotic. People throughout the nation were supporting the military, and American flags were flying everywhere. America was united as one, and we
all felt that the people who attacked us had hurt all of us directly. We were determined that whoever had done this to was going to pay for it. There
weren't any riots or protests. Nobody was worried about whom was offending who and who was receiving more of one thing than another. It did not

Unity and Diversity: Finding the Proper Balance Unity and diversity are both qualities to be desired within society. Both, when balanced with one

strongest factors of determining the present status of unity and diversity is the current state of affairs within a community. The current state of affairs

Society:
According to Eugene M. Makar, the traditional Indian culture is defined by relatively strict social hierarchy. He also mentions that from an early age,
children are reminded of their roles and places in society. This is reinforced by the fact that many believe gods and spirits have integral and functional
role in determining their life. Several differences such as religion divide culture. However, far more powerful division is the traditional Hindu
bifurcation into non–polluting and polluting occupations. Strict social taboos have governed these groups for thousands of years. In recent years,
particularly in cities, some of these lines have blurred and sometimes even disappeared. Nuclear family is becoming central to Indian culture.
Important family relations extend to as far as gotra, the mainly patrilinear lineage or clan assigned to a Hindu at birth. In rural areas it is common that
three or four generations of the family live under the same roof. Patriarch often resolves family issues.
Among developing countries, India has low levels of occupational and geographic mobility. People choose same occupations as their parents and rarely
move geographically in the society.
Family:
India for ages has had a prevailing tradition of the joint family system. It's a system under which even extended members of a family like one's parents,
children, the children's spouses and their offspring, etc. live together. The

Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Diversity
As philosopher, Johannes Scotus Eriugena once said, "Beauty is unity in the diversity." Diversity in a society is akin to the local signature dish,
"rojak", where different ingredients are mixed together in a bowl to produce a distinct taste. Similarly, in a diverse society, there are people from
various races, ethnicities and beliefs integrating to become a unique cultural identity. Diversity inculcates acceptance and respect in a society. One has
to understand that each and everyone is unique in his own ways. There are many diverse societies in the world and Singapore is one of them. Being a
multi–racial country, Singapore is home to various races, cultures and religions. A diverse society does have its advantages and disadvantages. The
former includes the promotion of humanistic values and the improvement of productivity and profitability while the latter may result in social tension.

One of the common disadvantages of a diverse society is that it can possibly trigger social tensions and unrests. In instances where social tensions
occur, there will be civil disorder or disturbance that is usually caused by two opposing groups, which are made up of different races, ethnicities or
religions. This may be an impact of the rifts that are created over time due to the imminent cultural and linguistic differences within the society. A good
example is the "divide–and–rule" policy. In 1822, Stamford Raffles devised a town plan with the purpose of remodeling Singapore into a modern city.
He set a "divide–and–rule" whereby ethnic zones were marked out for each ethnic group for residential purposes. Such policies may result in the
difficulty to maintain social cohesion and understanding between the people of different backgrounds. It can then lead to conflicts and disagreements
as well as discriminations due to the lack of communication amongst the various

A Better Option Cultural Unity Essay
A Better Option Cultural Unity
Throughout human history, humankind always seeks a way to get together with others in order to enhance the total power to solve its problems. Its
problems were sometimes to build a home in a cave, sometimes to hunt an animal or gather some foods, and sometimes protect its land from enemies.
These problems are still the main problems of humankind today. People still tend to come together or united to solve their problems because unity
always makes more sense than an individualistic approach. Hence, people always interact with each other in order to ameliorate their circumstances
over the time. This phenomenon is called globalization that is a social process involving creating new and multiplication of existing social networks and
activities by intensifying interaction and interdependence between agents (Steger 9). As a social affair or a phenomenon globalization is more than a
reconfiguration of the world–economies which the pressures on all governments to open their borders for international trade (Wallerstein 93–94).
Globalization is an "inevitable" (99) and "irreversible" (100) process of human nature that requires people to live with each other, to interact with each
other and to cohabit with other to ameliorate its life quality. Cultural unity is the best option and much more probable way to enhance the total benefit
of people, who live in a "global village" (McLuhan 31), rather than cultural diversity and cultural pluralism for three

Harmony means the quality of forming a pleasing and consistent whole. Unity in diversity means oneness in the varieties. India is a best country
proving this concept for many years. India is a country where it is very clear to see unity in diversity because people of many religion, race, culture
and tradition live together without affecting each other's feelings and believes to their religion. Unity in diversity focuses on the existence of unity even
after lots of differences of cultural, social, physical, linguistic, religious, political, ideological, psychological, etc. More number of diversities makes

Previous to the beginning of the war in Iraq the American political parties, though not working together in perfect harmony or unison, had achieved
some measure of cooperation and unity under the idea of patriotism. However, the execution of the war in Iraq has ripped apart any ties between the
parties, as now Democrats and Republicans consistently bicker over the context and continued growth of the war efforts. As many Democrats call for
complete withdrawal from the war–torn state and label the operation a disaster, a strong amount of Republicans still maintain the validity of the war
and the need for the United States to remain in Iraq and complete the task that was started. This diversity amongst the politicians of America is not
conducive to achieving successful results. A more united, unified opinion amongst politicians in America would provide a much better setting for
either continued efforts in Iraq or the stopping of the war altogether. In this case, a better balance between diversity and unity must be achieved if
any form of tangible progress is to be made. The previous examples have focused on examples with an excess of diversity and the need for more
unity in order to fix the problem, however this is not always the case within society. There have been times at which too much unity of opinion exists
and society blindly unifies for a cause

For centuries, globalization has increasingly knitted together the world and created unity out of great diversity. Coca Cola, Disney and McDonald's
symbolize the process, along with Sony, Shell Oil and IBM. They are products known and consumed from Ulan Bator to Little Rock – and also
powerful companies that drive globalization forward, creating new laws, new business practices, new ways to eat and drink, new hopes and dreams.
Optimists look forward to a global village, linked together by the Internet, and benefiting from ever–increasing material well–being. Pessimists see a
frightful corporate tyranny destroying the environment, and sweeping away all that is healthy and meaningful to human existence. Human societies
across the globe have established progressively closer contacts over many centuries, but recently the pace has dramatically increased. Jet airplanes,
cheap telephone service, email, computers, huge oceangoing vessels, instant capital flows, all these have made the world more interdependent than
ever. Multinational corporations manufacture products in many countries and sell to consumers around the world. Money, technology and raw
materials move ever more swiftly across national borders. Along with products and finances, ideas and cultures circulate more freely. As a result, laws,
economies, and social movements are forming at the international level. Many politicians, academics, and journalists treat these trends as both
inevitable and (on the whole)

Since the beginning of the human race, diversity has been a part of the world. Whether it the color of our skin or our beliefs, everyone is different.
The society unites from being diverse However, diversity tend to cause unity more often than it divides the society. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Our
ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and test of our civilization." Gandhi believes that the capability to be able to unite while being
diverse is what will make our society appealing. The society unites and unites even when they are different. Some factors that unite the society would
be a common interest, conflicts, and the loss of loved ones.
A common interest is a factor that unites the society. This is shown when the author of "A Quilt of a Country" ,Anna Quindlen, states, "The citizens of
the United States have come together once more because of armed conflict and enemy attack" (l.58). Americans worked together despite their
differences due to a terrorist group committing a genocide on The World Trade Center. Citizens came together because they had something in common:
the passion to rebuild what has been destroyed and to not show any instability. Going through the same problems during the same time, they were able
to help each other since they had the same feelings. In "Night Calls," by Lisa Fugard, there are many examples on how a common interest can unite
individuals. Fugard wrote, "During holidays I came home and my father would share the latest

Speech On Value Of Diversity
Diversity is defined as "a state of being different" however, the meaning extends further than just culture and race. It is a concept which revolves around
acceptance and respect. Understanding each individual, their tradition, their belief, their uniqueness, and their importance in the community builds up
the true meaning of diversity.
The concept "Value of Diversity" refers to, understanding each other and moving beyond religion andculture to appreciate the person's principles and
their presence in the society. Valuing diversity teaches respecting individuality while maintaining respect for others. It helps us to highlight the
contributions of various groups in making up a community. As evident from the speech by Kofi Annan at Global Centre...show more content...

Reflection About Unity
How I learned the Importance of Unity Every time I go on social media, I notice that the country I live in is slowly becoming more and more
divided. In a country where innocent Black lives are taken by those who promised them living rights, where Muslims are labeled as terrorists,
where undocumented immigrants are threatened to be deported, where innocent lives are suffering, it is difficult to find the light in darkness.
America is a land filled with an abundance amount of diversity with people from different races, cultures, countries, languages and religions. The
only ingredient that is missing to help society tackle these challenging times filled with hatred and ignorance, is unity. Unity is the state of being
united or joined as a whole. Unity is what makes individuals from different backgrounds unite together to build bridges to cross over tough times.
As I've become older and wiser, I've learned that with unity and diversity of all people, the world can morph into a more accepting society.
Throughout elementary school and middle school, I was naive in not knowing how much silence and hate there was in our country. I would never
hear about issues that our country was facing such as discrimination and racism. I was living in my own happy bubble and not stepping outside of it
to face the truth. However, when I entered high school, reality hit me smack on the face. My dark skin color was suddenly pushed into darkness while
others were easily able to shine. My

India Unity In Diversity In India
India is described as a country which is "a Unity is Diversity" because it is comprised of a wide variety of individuals who belong to different
religions, speak different languages, practice different traditions, have different castes, worship different gods, wear different clothing, and eat different
foods. Although India is comprised of all these different individuals and their diverse traits and practices, these individuals live together in peace and
harmony in India.
Furthermore, the people of India are governed by one central authority and have one Prime Minister, President, Supreme Court, and Army Chief.
Hinduism is the main religion practiced in India; however, there are followers of Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, and Parsees. The
people of India practice different religions but majority of them believe in the theory of Dharma and Karma. This theory includes salvation, rebirth,
purification the soul, good for good, and bad for bad. Furthermore, the people of India come together to celebrate festivals and cultural celebrations.
Even Indian philosophy contributes to the idea that India is "a Unity in Diversity." There is difference in the overall conceptions of gods and ways of
worshipping but Indians still maintain the fear of heaven and hell. Many ethics groups coexist in India as well. However, within each ethnic group,
views on rituals, marriage, and castes remain the same. Also, many languages are spoken in India, but Sanskrit still maintains

Diversity Synthesis Essay

  • 1. Diversity Synthesis Essay "Ethnic Diversity adds richness to a society."–Gary Locke. Diversity is essential to our national identity, and diversity does create unity. Diversity today and in the past have always been a huge affect and part of society. Different races, sexes, and religious beliefs for some reason affect many people. Diversity creates unity, and it helps one another grow stronger. The picture of the different races holding the American flag (Source 1), showed that all religions, sexes, give honor to America by holding the American flag. No matter theirrace, religion, sex, these Americans are "equal". "That is, I don't have white skin or white ancestors. I have yellow skin and yellow ancestors." (Source 2) The name and color of skin, is what bothers...show more content... Different social class, religion, and races all have different beliefs than one another and that is what causes the arguments. "Middle–class supporters of public bilingualism...", (Source 3) shows that the poor get less than the rich. That is not fair at all! The "standard" english is spoken well by the higher classes but low by the lower and poor classes. "Because I hate assimilationist negroes!" (Source 4) People who say this are the ones that start the arguments. Everyone calls everyone names, based on their race, religion, and social class. This right here is why people fight everyday. This is still a problem we are facing today. That is not at all the correct way to talk to other people. Some individuals, just think that the only way to go is their way, that their religion, class, sex is the only one can ever choose from. Diversity is important, everyone should be treated equally no matter what color your skin is or what color your ancestors are. Everyone should unite! This world should not be separated based off of your color, religion, and class. All individuals should be able to have their own thoughts, and still be able to be united with each and every person. Your skin color, social class, religious beliefs should not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

We all know that India is not only known for technology industries but also because of it's variety of people, numerous languages, multiple customs and traditions; different races with different faces and marvelous landscapes. These always project India among other countries like "unity in diversity". Most of us never know about northern states and North Indians like vise– versa but yet we join hands to support any sensational news created by media like Anna Hazare's corruption movement. We never know how many languages are exiting in our country. • 4. Speech On Unity In Diversity Regina Novia Tesiman ESLL 26.01 October 23, 2017 Essay Draft #3 Unity in Diversity Maya Angelou once said that "In diversity there is beauty and there is strength." Have you ever thought how beautiful and powerful are diversities in this world? We have lots of colors in this world, tons of people come from a different place, ages, economics, ethnic and cultures. But before we go deeper into that, although I am pretty sure that most of you have known what is diversity, in case some of you are still wondering what is it, I am about to tell you then. Diversity can be defined as a variety or difference. Every human being has their own uniqueness by which it means, we all are different, these differences like ages, and religion as an example, can be found at any place, at home, park, or even college campuses. Diversity on campuses will impact society by being more respectful, open–minded, and increasing our knowledge or skills in order to make a peaceful world. Having a different culture on campuses, like Foothill college, affects the society around them by interacting with each other, like the society in either Los Altos Hills or Mountain View. Foothill College is one of the best community colleges, here in the United States, located in the Los Altos Hills, that have lots of international students coming from different part of the world. Besides native American, there are Indonesian, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Russian, African, and a lot more. Being exposed Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Unity And Diversity In America Today Today in America, we live in a country that honors freedom, and diversity. Over the past century, there have been many conflicts throughout the world due to nations differing views about important issues such as freedom, economics, and a need for power. As a new nation, the United States had to figure out where it stood and how it fit into the larger scheme of the world. As older countries who were closer to each other geographically fought over borders and religion and conflicting ideologies, America had an opportunity to align itself with established nations whose way of life matched closest to what we wanted to be. The modern world we live in today, has been shaped socially, economically, and culturally by past conflicts and wars, most Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Essay On Diversity And Diversity In the age of globalization, harmony within diversity should be nurtured and cherished by the modern society. According to www.dictionary.com, diversity is the state or fact of being diverse; different or unlikeness". The word "diversity" can be used to describe myriad of situation in this world. However, it is commonly used to express the diversity of culture in a country. Harmony within diversity can be translated as peacefulness among multiracial societies that live together in a country. Fortunately, people inMalaysia, our beloved country practice harmony within diversity. In my opinion, the importance of the nurturing and cherishing of harmony within diversity in our country is uncountable. First and foremost, harmony within diversity of culture in our country is the main key to promote unity among races. Unity...show more content... Our country's peacefulness among people is always admired by the foreigners. It is our honour to live together happily regardless of race, cultural background and mother language. AsiaNews had reported that Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is our Deputy Prime Minister in 2006 had said that the United Kingdom is keen to learn from the Malaysian experience in promoting tolerance and harmony amongst its many ethnic groups by quoting his British counterpart, John Prescott, who began a four–day visit on October 28, 2006. In addition, the fusion of our people's cultures is also an attraction to foreign travellers. For instance, architecture in Malaysia is a combination of many styles, from Islamic and Chinese styles to those brought by European colonists. Baba Nyonya households which are made of colourful tiles is becoming popular among travellers recently. The combinations of our people's cultural food also become a merit of our nation. Thus, the spirit of harmonious in our people had success in bringing honour to our country in many Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Unity In America The America I Believe In Oliver Kemper said, "The foundation of freedom is unity." So if we want America to stay free, the first thing we need is unity. I believe in an America where we are unified as one. Unity will create more harmony in America. After 9/11, America was unified and all were patriotic. People throughout the nation were supporting the military, and American flags were flying everywhere. America was united as one, and we all felt that the people who attacked us had hurt all of us directly. We were determined that whoever had done this to was going to pay for it. There weren't any riots or protests. Nobody was worried about whom was offending who and who was receiving more of one thing than another. It did not matter Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Both, when balanced with one another, provide for the strongest form of society in which all are unified under some ideas, but differences are tolerated and accepted. One of the strongest factors of determining the present status of unity and diversity is the current state of affairs within a community. Makar, the traditional Indian culture is defined by relatively strict social hierarchy. He also mentions that from an early age, children are reminded of their roles and places in society. This is reinforced by the fact that many believe gods and spirits have integral and functional role in determining their life. Several differences such as religion divide culture. However, far more powerful division is the traditional Hindu bifurcation into non–polluting and polluting occupations. Strict social taboos have governed these groups for thousands of years. In recent years, particularly in cities, some of these lines have blurred and sometimes even disappeared. Nuclear family is becoming central to Indian culture. Important family relations extend to as far as gotra, the mainly patrilinear lineage or clan assigned to a Hindu at birth. In rural areas it is common that three or four generations of the family live under the same roof. Patriarch often resolves family issues. Among developing countries, India has low levels of occupational and geographic mobility. People choose same occupations as their parents and rarely move geographically in the society. Family: India for ages has had a prevailing tradition of the joint family system. It's a system under which even extended members of a family like one's parents, children, the children's spouses and their offspring, etc. live together. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of Diversity As philosopher, Johannes Scotus Eriugena once said, "Beauty is unity in the diversity." Diversity in a society is akin to the local signature dish, "rojak", where different ingredients are mixed together in a bowl to produce a distinct taste. Similarly, in a diverse society, there are people from various races, ethnicities and beliefs integrating to become a unique cultural identity. Diversity inculcates acceptance and respect in a society. One has to understand that each and everyone is unique in his own ways. There are many diverse societies in the world and Singapore is one of them. Being a multi–racial country, Singapore is home to various races, cultures and religions. A diverse society does have its advantages and disadvantages. The former includes the promotion of humanistic values and the improvement of productivity and profitability while the latter may result in social tension. In...show more content... One of the common disadvantages of a diverse society is that it can possibly trigger social tensions and unrests. In instances where social tensions occur, there will be civil disorder or disturbance that is usually caused by two opposing groups, which are made up of different races, ethnicities or religions. This may be an impact of the rifts that are created over time due to the imminent cultural and linguistic differences within the society. A good example is the "divide–and–rule" policy. In 1822, Stamford Raffles devised a town plan with the purpose of remodeling Singapore into a modern city. He set a "divide–and–rule" whereby ethnic zones were marked out for each ethnic group for residential purposes. Such policies may result in the difficulty to maintain social cohesion and understanding between the people of different backgrounds. It can then lead to conflicts and disagreements as well as discriminations due to the lack of communication amongst the various Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 12. A Better Option Cultural Unity Essay A Better Option Cultural Unity Throughout human history, humankind always seeks a way to get together with others in order to enhance the total power to solve its problems. Its problems were sometimes to build a home in a cave, sometimes to hunt an animal or gather some foods, and sometimes protect its land from enemies. These problems are still the main problems of humankind today. People still tend to come together or united to solve their problems because unity always makes more sense than an individualistic approach. Hence, people always interact with each other in order to ameliorate their circumstances over the time. This phenomenon is called globalization that is a social process involving creating new and multiplication of existing social networks and activities by intensifying interaction and interdependence between agents (Steger 9). As a social affair or a phenomenon globalization is more than a reconfiguration of the world–economies which the pressures on all governments to open their borders for international trade (Wallerstein 93–94). Globalization is an "inevitable" (99) and "irreversible" (100) process of human nature that requires people to live with each other, to interact with each other and to cohabit with other to ameliorate its life quality. Cultural unity is the best option and much more probable way to enhance the total benefit of people, who live in a "global village" (McLuhan 31), rather than cultural diversity and cultural pluralism for three Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Previous to the beginning of the war in Iraq the American political parties, though not working together in perfect harmony or unison, had achieved some measure of cooperation and unity under the idea of patriotism. However, the execution of the war in Iraq has ripped apart any ties between the parties, as now Democrats and Republicans consistently bicker over the context and continued growth of the war efforts. As many Democrats call for complete withdrawal from the war–torn state and label the operation a disaster, a strong amount of Republicans still maintain the validity of the war and the need for the United States to remain in Iraq and complete the task that was started. This diversity amongst the politicians of America is not conducive to achieving successful results. A more united, unified opinion amongst politicians in America would provide a much better setting for either continued efforts in Iraq or the stopping of the war altogether. In this case, a better balance between diversity and unity must be achieved if any form of tangible progress is to be made. The previous examples have focused on examples with an excess of diversity and the need for more unity in order to fix the problem, however this is not always the case within society. There have been times at which too much unity of opinion exists and society blindly unifies for a cause Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Coca Cola, Disney and McDonald's symbolize the process, along with Sony, Shell Oil and IBM. Optimists look forward to a global village, linked together by the Internet, and benefiting from ever–increasing material well–being. Pessimists see a frightful corporate tyranny destroying the environment, and sweeping away all that is healthy and meaningful to human existence. Human societies across the globe have established progressively closer contacts over many centuries, but recently the pace has dramatically increased. Jet airplanes, cheap telephone service, email, computers, huge oceangoing vessels, instant capital flows, all these have made the world more interdependent than ever. Multinational corporations manufacture products in many countries and sell to consumers around the world. Money, technology and raw materials move ever more swiftly across national borders. Along with products and finances, ideas and cultures circulate more freely. As a result, laws, economies, and social movements are forming at the international level. • 18. Since the beginning of the human race, diversity has been a part of the world. Whether it the color of our skin or our beliefs, everyone is different. The society unites from being diverse However, diversity tend to cause unity more often than it divides the society. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and test of our civilization." Gandhi believes that the capability to be able to unite while being diverse is what will make our society appealing. The society unites and unites even when they are different. Some factors that unite the society would be a common interest, conflicts, and the loss of loved ones. A common interest is a factor that unites the society. This is shown when the author of "A Quilt of a Country" ,Anna Quindlen, states, "The citizens of the United States have come together once more because of armed conflict and enemy attack" (l.58). Americans worked together despite their differences due to a terrorist group committing a genocide on The World Trade Center. Citizens came together because they had something in common: the passion to rebuild what has been destroyed and to not show any instability. Going through the same problems during the same time, they were able to help each other since they had the same feelings. In "Night Calls," by Lisa Fugard, there are many examples on how a common interest can unite individuals. • 20. Reflection About Unity How I learned the Importance of Unity Every time I go on social media, I notice that the country I live in is slowly becoming more and more divided. In a country where innocent Black lives are taken by those who promised them living rights, where Muslims are labeled as terrorists, where undocumented immigrants are threatened to be deported, where innocent lives are suffering, it is difficult to find the light in darkness. America is a land filled with an abundance amount of diversity with people from different races, cultures, countries, languages and religions. The only ingredient that is missing to help society tackle these challenging times filled with hatred and ignorance, is unity. Unity is the state of being united or joined as a whole. I would never hear about issues that our country was facing such as discrimination and racism. I was living in my own happy bubble and not stepping outside of it to face the truth. However, when I entered high school, reality hit me smack on the face. My dark skin color was suddenly pushed into darkness while others were easily able to shine.
