5. Pathogen survival in soil.
Temperature for the development is 28°C with 60 -70% humidity.
Etiology
Epidemiology
Mycelium is hyaline and septate.
Produce sporodochium.
Produce two types of conidia.
Macroconidia are hyaline , fusiform, mostly
3-6 septate, measure 25- 33 x 3.5 -5.5µm in
size and have gradually pointed and curved
ends.
Microconidia are single cell , hyaline and
measure 6- 15 x 2.5 x 4 µm in size.
Older mycelium forms chlamydospores which
are 1 or 2 celled, thick walled , round spore.
Only chlamydospores can survive in the soil
for long.
7. Management
Field should be ploughed in summer and the soil should be allowed
to back in hot dry weather.
Long crop rotation (5-7 year).
Use of biological control like Trichoderma spp. ,Pseudomonas
fluorescens, Bacillus subtilis etc.
Use of wilt resistant varities Arka Lohit,Pusha Jwala, Jwahar 218
,and Pant C2.
Drenching with 1% Bordeaux mixture or Copper Oxychloride 50 %.
Seed treatment with Carbendazim 2gm/ kg.
