2. INITIATIVE
• An initiative represents an enterprise's
readiness to embark on a new venture.
• It may be a formal or informal project.
• Economic incentive often plays a strong role.
3. LEADERSHIP
“ The pessimist complains about the wind,
The optimist expects it to change,
The leader adjusts the sails.”
Leadership is the ability of an individual or organisation
to "lead" or guide other individuals, teams, or
organisations.

5. DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS ON LEADERSHIP
• There exist various leadership styles.
• Eastern and Western approaches to leadership
are different and so are the U.S. and European
approaches.
• In US academic environments leadership is
defined as "a process of social influence in
which a person can enlist the aid
and support of others in the accomplishment
of a common task".
6. • Leadership seen from a European and non-
academic perspective encompasses a view of
a leader who can be moved both by
communitarian goals and also by the search
for personal power.
