7. Shelley Rubino, CKD, CBD
I am currently in my 15th year in Kitchen and Bathroom Design. I
work in an active 8 designer showroom where I am responsible for all aspects
relative to design and sales for both kitchen and bathroom projects. I have
experience in both remodeling and new construction projects from design to
completion including some project management for both. I am responsible
for sourcing my own materials which gives me constant research knowledge
for all of the industry. I have attended over six KBIS trade shows. I studied
and received both my CKD and CBD in May and November 2009,
respectively, under the guidance and mentorship of David Newton,
CMKBD. I am currently working toward my CMKBD, in which I will be
eligible in May 2019. As part of my certifications, I am required to attend
classes and receive CEU's of 10 hours per two year period. I enroll in at least
2-3 NKBA classes each year to get those credits. I did submit my own project
in the 2010 National Kitchen and Bath Design Competition. I have now
completed two years of judging with the Student Design Competition.

The Project:
A new construction permanent one bedroom cabin
home for Ann & John Davis, to be built in a casual
natural habitat-lake community.
The Challenge:
To design a safe, functional space using NKBA Access
Planning Guidelines and to create a home which
reflects the casual lake community lifestyle.
Materials and aesthetics
should denote the clients love
for outdoors.
