Located in Cullinan, in Gauteng, Fundani Tours specialises
in guided day trips, safaris, transfers and scheduled shuttle
services in Dinokeng. It offers a range of tours and activities aimed at
enabling travellers to sample Gauteng’s culture and history.
Tour-guide training is provided to previously disadvantaged youths
from local communities, and it offers in-service training for vocational
and university students.
Fundani also arranges tour services across South Africa. The company
says its township tours and Cullinan Diamond Mine walking tours have
become firm favourites with both international and local tourists.

SANI LODGE BACKPACKERS
Located at the foot of the Sani Pass, the gateway to the
mountain kingdom of Lesotho, Sani Lodge is a country
haven, suitable for travellers looking for a peaceful
atmosphere.
The four-star graded establishment provides a base
for Drakensberg Adventures, which offers 4x4 tours
up Sani Pass and into Lesotho, from one-day standard
tours to two and three-day village experience tours,
pony treks, and longer tours around Lesotho. A number
of guided hiking trips are also offered.
It is also home to the Giant’s Cup Café, which is well
known for its wholesome home-cooked meals and
cakes. The café also boasts a craft shop that displays
a variety of local art. Plus, for gardening enthusiasts,
there are over 60 species of indigenous plants on sale.
Currently listed for the Africa Responsible Travel
Award for Poverty Reduction, Sani Lodge will host
the South African Youth and Travel Confederation
Conference in September 2016, at which the Minister of
Tourism will be in attendance.

solar-powered 4x4 mobile computer lab – the Big

students and people into the area to work with
communities to better their resources.

IKHWA TTU SAN CULTURE AND
EDUCATION CENTRE
The !Khwa ttu San Culture and Education Centre is a repository for San
culture and heritage that provides tailor-made training for young San
women and men of southern Africa. It boosts the social and economic
wellbeing of San communities in southern Africa through the development
of successful and sustainable community and tourism initiatives.
Situated within a recognised biosphere reserve, which boasts globally
unique and endangered biodiversity, the centre also falls within the Cape
Floral Region, a recognised World Heritage Site.
Committed to the conservation of biodiversity and a sustainable
environment, !Khwa ttu aims to reduce carbon emissions and costs, while,
at the same time, promoting healthy biodiversity and ecosystem processes.
The centre plans to develop into a holistic management and green
infrastructure learning site over the next few years.
Later this year, work will begin on a new museum that will enable the
San community to tell its own story, in its own words.
