Dear Sue:
I’m glad I was able to reach you earlier this week and introduce myself. I read your
article in the April 2003 Production Update Magazine. It sounds like the 2003 AFCI trade
show in Santa Monica was a great success and the start of more foreign representation.
It’s also good for us to hear that the cost of filming in New York State may be reduced!
To follow up on our conversation, I’m writing on behalf of Motion Picture Enterprises,
the publisher of the Motion Picture, TV and Theatre Directory. The handguide, known
coast to coast as “the yellow book” has proven itself to be a valuable resource for
production professionals nationwide. We are now celebrating our 43rd
year in business
publishing in this handy, well-recognized format.
Twice a year we mail out the guide to subscribing unions and guilds with an
acknowledgement sticker on each book, compliments of the participating guild. Among
the participants are the AICP, AICE, Media Communications Association, Independent
Feature Project and International Documentary Association. We have subscribers in
NATAS as well as the IATSE unions across the country, and in the technical trades like
PERA, SMPTE and NAPTE. This September we have our second mailing of the year.
We would like to add the AFCI to our distinguished list of participants.
I’m sure your members will find this well-known book a most valuable resource, as
others have throughout our 43 years. All we will need from are labels in zip code order
and we do the rest. As always, the labels are for one-time use only and not for any other
purpose. We place a “compliments of” sticker on each book to acknowledge the
contribution of your organization. The mailing is done from our premises only.
I’ve enclosed a copy of the Directory and look forward to your reply. I am sending this
letter early to give you time to review. Thank you.
Cordially,
Denise DeSanto
