Arkansas Coalition for Excellence annual report 2012
about ALPFA NWA
1. Developing Leaders for over 40 years
ALPFA is the leading national Latino professional association, consisting of 40 Professional and
nearly 110 Student chapters across the country and in Puerto Rico. The Association's visionary
founders launched an ambitious mission that they pursued over the course of forty years.
Committed to its shared values and to its mission, the Association flourished, expanding its
base of operations to forty chapters nationwide in 2012. ALPFA's current Board of Directors,
with the support of the Corporate Advisory Board, is innovatively addressing the challenges
that lie ahead by promoting the highest standards of excellence for itself and its members.
Mission
The ALPFA Northwest Arkansas (NWA) Chapter is committed to its members and community by
offering inclusive leadership development that we believe is a hallmark of successful individual
leaders and organizations. Our vision is to create cultural vibrancy in Northwest Arkansas
through the tie to ALPFA National and, vice versa, raise the leadership impact of the Northwest
Arkansas community at a national level. The chapter accomplishes this goal through three
primary objectives: ADVANCE, CONNECT, AND EMPOWER (ACE).

2. ALPFA NWA is one of the Leading Chapters of the Nation
2012 Accomplishments
For the year 2012, the ALPFA NWA Chapter has been successful to grow its membership by more
than 300%, from +600 members to more than 1,800 members. While ALPFA has historically been an
organization of finance and accounting, the ALPFA NWA Chapter has successful at adding new
sectors such as supply chain / transportation, information technology, retail and manufacturing. We
have trained members through seminars and summits such as:
The Veteran’s Initiative to support military members in translating their skills into a corporate
value proposition
Bringing together members and community through a weekend picnic at the LPGA tournament
The Lideres de Corazon gala event to honor leaders enriching and enhancing the Latino
community in Northwest Arkansas
The ALPFA Leadership Summit to bring the leadership of ALPFA’s 40 chapters from across the
nation to gain training in leadership
The Certificate of Leadership in Board Service training, twice in the year, to graduate members
to serve in the community as volunteers of diverse backgrounds and mindset on non-profit,
state boards and commissions
