 Accountsfor tools,materialsandsupplyinventory,andisresponsiblefororderinganysupplies.
Safety:
 Assumesresponsibilitiesforthe securityof all operationsequipmentandvehicles.Maintains,
monitorsandupdatessecurityequipment.
 Responsible fordevelopment(asnecessary),coordinationandimplementationof safetyrelated
mattersfor facilitiesandpersonnel,suchasstaff trainingincludingFirstAidandCPR.
 As scheduled,routinelyconductsandmaintainsrecordsof safetyinventoriesandchecklists.
 Conductsroutine inspectionsof staff,equipmentanduniformstoensure properwear and
safety.
 Performsoccupational,visitorandenvironmental safetyinspectionsandmaintainsrecordsof
same.
 Performsplaygroundsafetyauditsandinspectionswithinparkdistrict,andforcountyand
municipal parksasrequested.
 SchedulesandsupervisesSheriff Deputystaff.
 Insuresincidentreportsandaccidentreportsare completed,filedandretainedaccordingto
policy.
 Acts as liaisonbetweenparkdistrictandlocal law enforcementandfire departmentfor
emergenciesandprogrammingpurposes.Respondstoemergenciesonparkdistrictproperties.
 Maintainsall MSDS and OSHA records andensurescompliance withpoliciesregardingthese
safetyprotocols.
Administration:
 Assistswithbudgetingandpurchasingbyproficientaccurate projectionsof the costsof time and
/or materials,equipmentandsmall capital improvements.
 Developsbudgetrequests,monitorsexpendituresaccordingtobudget
allocations/appropriations,andrecommendsand/orinitiatescost-savingmeasures.
 Participatesinlongandshort-termplanningandpolicy/proceduredevelopmentwithinthe park
district.
 Writesand filesreports,asrequiredbyparkdistrictpolicies,andrequiresappropriate staff todo
so.Takes actionon suchinformationaccordingtoState law,park districtpoliciesand
instructions.
Supervision:
 Works withVisitors’ServicesManagerforthe interviewingandhiringof all natural resources
staff.
 Supervisesfull-time,seasonal,internandvolunteerfacilitiesstaff andperformsrelated
managementtaskssuchas scheduling,assigningdutiesanddeterminingpriorities. Occasionally
supervisesotherstaff members,volunteers,andcontractemployeesasassigned.
 Evaluatesfull-time,part-time andseasonal reportstwice duringannual service period.Follows
appropriate disciplinaryactionproceduresasnecessary.
 Trainsstaff members,internsandvolunteersconcerningequipmentoperationand
maintenance.
Other:
 CoordinateswithNatural ResourcesandVisitorsServicesManagerstoassistwithoccasional
natural resource/programmingprojectsasneeded.
 Updatesand enhancesknowledgebycontinuingeducationforprofessional growth,attends
relevantconferences,seminarsandcertificationprograms.Ensuresstaff participatesin
additional trainingaspermittedbythe TrainingBudget.
 Works flexiblehours,includingweekends,eveningsandholidays,foraminimumof 40 hours
weeklywiththe possibilityof more hoursdependingonworkload.
 Preparesprojecttrackingandannual reportspertainingtothe facilitiesdepartment.Attends
staff and leadershipteammeetings.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelorsdegree fromanaccreditedcollege oruniversityinManagement,Natural Resources,
WildlifeManagement,Conservation,ora relatedfieldandthree yearsata supervisorylevel or 7
yearsof equivalentworkexperienceandthree yearsata supervisorylevel inagovernmental
park and recreationagency.
 Demonstratedmanagementskillsincludingcommunication,problemsolving,visioning,
participative managementstyle,collaboration,leadership,anddecisionmakingtoanalyze
diverse facts,developclearandconcise reportsandrecommendations.
 Experience inandworkingknowledge of commonpracticesof general parkmaintenance,
groundskeeping,landscaping,conservationlandmanagementandstewardshipactivitiesand
equipment.
 Competentknowledge of local ordinancesandOlanderParkSystemrules,regulationsand
policies.
 Competentknowledge of federal statutespertainingtothe civil rightsof all membersof the
