Thisarticle outlinedanexperimentinwhich66 testsubjectswere assigned diets high in almonds, plant
sterols, soluble fiber, and soy protein in order to demonstrate these nutrients’ effects on blood
pressure. The article wentfurthertotheorize thatthe high mineral yields in nuts would treat and even
cure hypertension and that this was the first study of its kind examining the effects of nuts on blood
pressure.Thisarticle didshowthe expectedresultwhichwasanotable decrease inblood pressure over
the course of one year;thisinformationprovedvital tomy research for demonstrating possible dietary
guidelines that I can hopefully encourage my case-study subject to employ. I only question the
deductionmade bythe authorsthat nutswere the cause of thisdecrease inbloodpressure since several
other factors such as the soluble fiber and soy protein were also at play.
