A Guggenheim moment where ... design and construction experts, critics, academics and the public are completely united about an iconic adaptable building that informs sustainable living and building practises and principles. The Building of Things provides experiences across eight themes to inspire and change the way we live, work and play in and from buildings! Importantly, the Building of Things also shows how social mobility and the four-legged unbalanced construction challenges – Affordability, Performance, Construction Knowledge & Skills and the Environmental & Health Impacts - can be improved!

Catalicity works with organisations to create impactful
strategies for sustainability. Drawing from a range of
backgrounds including infrastructure and sustainable
building we are developing a project to build a ground
breaking site to enable research, development, testing
and commercialisation of a wide range of sustainable
building techniques.
Our model is designed to incorporate aspects relevant
throughout the life cycle of buildings, taking uses into
account which include work, study, play and living.
Our model will support and challenge organisations to
design and build for modern life, thinking about eight
key themes:
The community the space serves, the economy it
contributes to, the physical space and it’s construction,
the digital and psychological experiences of users, the
in-use experience and ultimately an academy to share
all learning.
The Changing Building Concept
We have also developed a strong network of associates
who will be contributing to the project as we develop
the plans.
In the first stages we will be working up detailed
proposals to draw up full architectural designs,
developing our team and setting collaborative
relationships for the research and development
aspects of the building.
We seek to address the need for social development
and improving social mobility by ensuring that the
building delivers on: Health, Affordability and
Performance

The Changing Building is to be constructed with sustainable design and build techniques that
demonstrate how harmony between Nature, the Built Environment and Transport comes
together for sustainable living. It is a Building of Things, bringing together multiple emerging
concepts into a practical building that works for the people that use it. The concept is
replicable and the buildings themselves provide for a range of eight themed experiences from
the building style, structure, materials, fabrics, products, services and technologies throughout
the full life-cycle. Importantly, this will include innovative and flexible internal and externals
spaces, all designed to inspire all lifestyles, Change Building processes and Changing Buildings
in use for a modern and resource limited world.
