1. Formal Specification
I am going to create a short movie which will be displayed on the internet either of on YouTube or a
different video hosting service. I will receive funding from Fizzy Drink Inc. to produce an advertising
film for their products intending to increase sales and awareness of their products. The film will be
displayed on video sharing websites such as YouTube, flash ads and Google videos. I will use
specialists to aid me in the production of the ad. I intend to use a Camera Operator and a sound
editor, the role of the camera specialist is: Too operate a camera providing and recording a
professional cinematic end product, Store and maintain the equipment and too prepare for shooting
the ad. A sound editors role is too co-ordinate with the film shoot planning and discussing the kind
of audio experience the viewer’s receive, they also store maintain and operate the complex sound
equipment.
Audience
When creating our advert we take in to consideration the audience. We hope to aim to the widest
range of consumers possible (all age and genders). When creating the advert we will take into
account ethical considerations and make sure our advert is not found offensive in anyway.
Technical considerations
When creating our advert we want our advert to be as accessible as possible across a range of
platforms. These platforms will include, TV, smartphone, computer, PDA’s and games consoles. To
do this we will have to choose a format tailored to work on all these platforms. We decided we are
going to use the Mp4 file format as we believe it’s the best one for compatibility and quality or audio
and video, it’s also compatible on most platforms and is an internationally recognised format. Mp4
format is also a small format to store meaning fast download and streaming speeds. It’s also
compatible on a range of common media players such as youtube, windows media player and
itunes.
