1. Mobile Stroke Unit
Acting FAST
when tools, time and safety
matter most
Commitment
Committed to providing the best
solution for each job, Frazer, Ltd.
designed one of the first Mobile
Stroke Units in the country. Leaping
ahead of the competition, Frazer has
engineered safety to the extreme.
With multiple patents pending, Frazer
tested the unit for stability in a
collision. The CT scanner mounting
and retention system was subjected
to 150% of the SAE J3043 testing
requirement and still resulted in NO
DAMAGE. Engineered for life, the
Mobile Stroke Unit offers critical time,
work space and safety.

Time
It is estimated that a stroke occurs every 40 seconds. With the
Mobile Stroke Unit, paramedics have the equipment and space
to perform CT Scans on site. The unit is long enough the tech
can stay in the unit while performing the scan adding
convenience for the tech and comfort for the patient. Information
in hand, the hospital knows the facts; whether it is a stroke and
what type of stroke.
Work Space
With more than 30 years of experience building emergency
vehicles, Frazer knows the importance of space and storage.
The Mobile Stroke Unit hosts two workstations; a flat surface by
the rear door and a fold down table by the side door. Along with
configurable cabinets, additional storage can be found in the
CPR seat and in the squad bench.
Safety
Many safety measures have been engineered and implemented
to promote successful operations on scene, in transit and during
the unexpected collision. With patents pending, Frazer has
developed a one of a kind ratchet system to stabilize the cot
while the patient is maneuvered to the CT Scan. More patents
pending, the CT scanner is secured during transit with multiple
levels of security designed for the unexpected collision. The first
being the bolting system keeping the scanner in place, next the
steel enclosure in the unexpected event the unit comes loose,
and then the cargo netting to catch any falling debris.

Crash Test Certified
In 2016, the CT scanner mounting and retention system
successfully passed the SAE J3043 (Ambulance Equipment
Mount Device or Systems) certification test. The test simulated
both a frontal and side impact and resulted in no damage to the
module or mounting and retention system. To further prove its
strength, the CT scanner mounting and retention system was
subjected to 150% of the SAE J3043 testing requirement and
still resulted in no damage. All testing was conducted by an
ANAB accredited environmental testing facility.
