SCENE ONE
FADE IN:
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Water trickles over the sand and glistens in the sunset.
Birds are heard tweeting above. A young woman is walking
alongside the water. She is holding a pair of sandals in her
right hand, her left hand is clutching her skirt. A young
man casually walks along the beach. His shoes sink into the
sand. He is distracted by his phone, frantically tapping his
thumbs on the screen. The couple walk towards one another,
unaware of each other’s presents. The girl slowly closes her
eyes as she breaths in the fresh sea air. She bumps into the
gentlemen.
JONATHAN
Oh god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t see
you there!
The girl bends down and picks up her sandal which has fallen
onto the sand. As she stands up she moves her wavy hair back
behind her shoulders.
FRANCESCA
No, it’s okay! It was my fault, I
wasn’t looking where I was going.
JONATHAN
It was my fault too... as much as I
hate to admit it, I was playing a
game on my phone.
FRANCESCA
Don’t worry about it, I was in a
day dream anyway so thanks for
bringing me back to the real world!
Francesca smiles at Jonathan and then looks away at the sea
before looking back in his direction.
JONATHAN
No problem! I’m Jonathan by the
way!
Jonathan confidently grins at the girl and holds his hand
out to greet her. The girl brings her free hand to meet his.
They both look down at their touching hands before the girl
gently pulls hers away. She looks back at Jonathan.

SCENE TWO
EXT. PORT - DAY
Francesca is walking alongside a port. She is with a girl
with long blonde hair. She is petite and has a rosy
complexion. There are fishing boats in the background. Tall
palm trees fill the pavement. A row of bars and restaurants
fill the opposite side. They are full with young
travelers. The girls chuckle as they walk along the sea
front. Francesca notices a familiar face walking towards
her.
SARAH
What are you doing!?
FRANCESCA
huh? What do you mean?
SARAH
You keep touching your hair and
patting down your dress you weirdo!
FRANCESCA
Don’t say anything okay!
Francesca looks ahead to see how far away Jonathan is. She
looks back at her friend. Sarah notices Francesca look at
someone.
SARAH
Why? Who is it?
FRANCESCA
It’s that guy, the one I bumped
into the other day at the beach!
SARAH
Oh my god how awkward!! Say hi
FRANCESCA
Noway! He probably won’t remember
me anyway, just act normal okay!
(CONTINUED)

SARAH
You’re telling me to act normal?
You look like you’re about to get
searched for drugs at an airport!
Francesca looks at her friend and mutters to her to be
quiet. As Francesca and Jonathan cross paths, Jonathan
smiles directly at her. Francesca is unaware as she is
looking straight ahead. She walks past him. Jonathan turns
to look back at her.
JONATHAN
Oi, Francesca! Are you not going to
say hi?
Francesca suddenly stops. She turns around and smiles at
Jonathan who is walking back towards her.
FRANCESCA
Oh hi! Sorry I didn’t see you
there!
JONATHAN
No problem! How you doing?
FRANCESCA
I’m good thank you! How are you?
Francesca appears shy and looks a little red in the face.
She tries to avoid too much eye contact with Jonathan.
Jonathan looks directly at her with a cheeky grin.
JONATHAN
Great thanks! So what you up to
now?
FRANCESCA
We are just taking a walk before we
head to work. This is my friend
Sarah! Sarah, this is Jonathan..
Francesca pauses and points at Jonathan.
JONATHAN
It’s nice to meet you Sarah!
SARAH
Hey!
There is a short silence. Francesca glances at the sea while
Sarah and Jonathan look at each other. Jonathan looks at the
ground. After a few seconds he clears his throat.

JONATHAN
So.. urm.. do you maybe.. want to
come for a drink with me?
FRANCESCA
What like right now?
JONATHAN
Only if you want to and aren’t too
busy..
FRANCESCA
Yeah sure! It will have to be a
quick one as I have work in 40
minutes.
Francesca glances at her watch and then looks at Sarah,
before she has time to speak Sarah interrupts her.
SARAH
Go on, have fun! I will come meet
you at work later!
Sarah walks off with a big grin on her face. The couple
smile at each other, they both appear a little shy. Jonathan
ushers Francesca to walk with him.
JONATHAN
Shall we?
Francesca simply nods and the pair walk down the sea front
together.
FADE TO.
SCENE THREE
EXT. BAR - DAY
Francesca and Jonathan are sat opposite each other at a
small round table outside a busy bar. The music playing in
the background is loud and drowns out everyone’s
conversations. Francesca and Jonathan are talking and
laughing. Francesca is sipping on a cocktail through a
straw. She is holding the tall glass with both hands.
Jonathan has a beer bottle in his left hand and is making
hand gestures with the other as he talks. Francesca is
nodding and giggling.
A young man approaches their table. He is short with messy
brown hair. He wears a pair of trendy black glasses. His

over sized red t-shirt hangs over his slim frame which he
has matched with a pair of black shorts. His right hand is
clutching a modern camera which is also attached to a lead
around his neck.
PHOTOGRAPHER
Hey guys! Can I take a photo for
you?
JONATHAN
Yeah, go on mate!
The photographer positions himself in front of the
table. They both lean in slightly. Francesca puts her drink
down on the table and places her hands in her lap, she tilts
her head and smiles. Jonathan places his bottle on the table
and keeps his left hand on it. He holds his other hand in
the air and gives a thumbs and a huge grin to the camera.
SCENE FOUR
EXT. MAIN ROAD - DAY
Francesca and Sarah walk out a supermarket which leads down
to a large faded zebra crossing on a main road. There are
lots of people around, everyone is dressed in swim wear and
little else to cover them. Engines can be heard in the
background, as well as passing tourists talking and
laughing. Music plays from a bar over the road. Sarah gets a
phone call from her mother. They briefly stop as Sarah takes
her phone out of her small bag that is leaning on her left
shoulder. Francesca has her phone in her hand.
SARAH
It’s my mum, I told her not to
ring!
Sarah answers the phone and walks ahead. Francesca looks at
her phone, she quickly glances at the road ahead and starts
to cross as she begins typing on her phone. Bike engines are
heard. Francesca looks at the quad bikes to the right of
her, presuming they will slow down for her on the zebra
crossing. She looks back at her phone.
A family have started crossing the road, the two children
giggle while they hold their mothers hand. Four quad bikes
start slowing down. One of them doesn’t and is heading
straight towards the children. The gentleman on the bike is
frantically pressing the brakes. They appear not to be
working. His face cannot be seen as he wears a full face
helmet. He looks down at his hand on the brake and back up

at the family. The mother of the children sees how close the
bike is, she starts yelling in a foreign language and holds
her hand up. The driver quickly swerves his bike to the
left. Sarah hears the loud sound of a bike engine close by.
She turns around to see the bike swerve towards Francesca.
SARAH
Francesca!! Look out!!
Francesca quickly glances at the bike which is inches away
from her. She freezes and simply stars at the driver. The
bike hits Francesca. Her shopping scatters over the ground.
Her phone brakes. There are gasps of horror from nearby
tourists. Sarah screams and frantically runs over to
Francesca who is laying on the road. The driver of the bike
is also laying on the road and is not moving. Francesca’s
eyes open and close. She is bleeding from above her eye, her
head and her leg. Francesca sees a gentlemen wearing a black
helmet laying across the road from her before her vision
fades.
FADE TO.
SCENE FIVE
INT. HOSPITAL - NIGHT
Francesca is lying in a hospital bed in a plain white room.
Her hand is attached to a drip. A doctor is writing notes at
the end of the bed. She is wearing a blue hospital gown and
has a stethoscope around her neck. She is an average height
with a slim build. Her light brown hair is tied back into a
neat bun.
Francesca starts to move her head and tries to open her
eyes. She squints at the brightness of the room and closes
them again. She opens her mouth and tries to clear her
throat. The doctor rushes over to Francesca’s bed and
presses the red button on the wall behind her. She speaks
with a foreign accent.
DOCTOR
Hi Francesca, you are in
hospital. I will get your mother.
Francesca looks confused and looks down at her hand and
follows the tube around to see the drip to the right hand
side of her.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 7.
Another doctor rushes into the room. He is bald and clean
shaven. He has a pair of thin framed glasses hanging around
his neck. Francesca’s mother follows him in. Her slim frame
is covered with a loose peach coloured blouse.
Her blonde hair is tucked behind her ears. Her eyes are
teary.
MOTHER
What’s happened doctor!!???
Francesca’s mother looks at her and lets out a sign of
relief. She places her hand over her mouth. Tears roll down
her cheeks as she smiles. She walks over and strokes
Francesca’s face.
MOTHER
Oh my god Francesca! You gave us
all such a scare!
The doctors fiddle with the machines. Francesca takes a few
deep breaths and closes her eyes. She opens them
again. Francesca’s voice is croaky.
FRANCESCA
Is Jonathan here?
Francesca’s mother looks confused.
MOTHER
Who?
FRANCESCA
Jonathan... my boyfriend
MOTHER
Oh, I didn’t know you had one!
FRANCESCA
What? we have been together months!
MOTHER
Okay.. I think you might be
confused love..
FRANCESCA
I’m not mum, stop messing around!
Is he here?
MOTHER
There is no Jonathan here
Francesca, you were in an accident
in Mykonos.
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 8.
FRANCESCA
What are you on about? I fell over
at the ice rink. I must have hit my
head.
MOTHER
It’s okay, we can talk later. You
need to rest.
Francesca looks annoyed at her mother. Her mother sits down.
FRANCESCA
Mum, can you just call Jonathan and
tell him I have woke up!
MOTHER
I think you should just rest for
now.
FRANCESCA
Please mum, I just want to see
him!!
Francesca’s mother looks down and suddenly realises who
Jonathan might be. She looks at Francesca with wide eyes.
MOTHER
Francesca love, I don’t want to
upset you, you have just woke up
and you need to get better.
FRANCESCA
Why!? What happened!?
MOTHER
I don’t know if this helps but the
man who knocked you over with his
bike... he had really bad
injuries... the doctors tried to
help him but they couldn’t....
(PAUSE)
Francesca’s eyes start to fill with tears. She stares at her
mum and waits for her to continue.
MOTHER
He died later that day... he wasn’t
conscious... he wasn’t in pain
(PAUSE)
(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 9.
Francesca’s mother pauses, she avoids speaking by looking
over at the doctors. Francesca places her hand on top of her
mother’s which is lent on the side of the bed. Francesca’s
mother looks back at her and takes a deep breath before
talking.
MOTHER
His name was Jonathan..
Francesca stares blankly at her mother. A single tear rolls
down over her cheek. She closes her eyes. The screen fades
to black.
