- Youth!
- Want to promote this addiction at an early age
- Cartoon characters smoke in movies
- Teenagers & rebellious youth seen smoking
- Higher class/wealthy people
- Example: Many Disney movies (stay tuned

● 13,000 Ontarians die each year from tobacco-related
illness
● Tobacco remains the leading preventable cause of death
● Health risks:
○ Lung cancer & lung damage
○ Mouth, throat, kidney, stomach cancers (and many other cancers!)
○ Heart disease and heart attack
○ Faster aging, wrinkles, age spots on skin
○ Damaged & yellowed teeth and gums
○ Stained fingers
○ Hair loss
○ risk of osteoporosis- weakening of the bones

The main idea we want the students to take away from this question:
Many of our favourite disney classics have smoking in at least one scene! Some show smoking and tobacco products in many scenes using many different characters?
Did you notice the smoking in these movies before we should you this clip?
How its targeting youth & younger individuals, many kids may find these scenes funny or appealing even if they aren’t meant to (they way the characters act, how smoking is used/incorporated), how even at a young age we can be influenced!
