Sus diseños se exponen en los más grandes museos del mundo. En resumen, podría decirse que la palabra diseño, y sus traducciones en idiomas como el inglés, podrían tomarse como sinónimo de su nombre: Milton Glaser.<br />Antecedentes<br />Desde que conocí de su existencia, en el año 1997, me conquistó la versatilidad, precisión y preciosidad de su obra. Y sí, ¡estoy hablando de un diseñador gráfico! Milton Glaser es capaz de condensar, en la menor cantidad de elementos posibles, el más monumental de los conceptos y lograr así una pieza contundente estética y conceptualmente.<br />Nacido en 1929 en la ciudad Nueva York, Glaser ha sido el creador de innumerables ilustraciones, afiches, logos y portadas de libros, entre otros, que se han convertido en verdaderos íconos de la cultura visual del siglo XX. El I love NY, de 1976 (reeditado en el 2001 como I love NY more than ever) y el afiche con la silueta multicolor de Bob Dylan, de 1967, son algunos de los más representativos. Su formación académica incluye el High School of Music and Art y la Cooper Union Art School, para posteriormente recibir una beca en la Academia de las Bellas Artes en Bolonia, Italia.<br />Influencia a nivel mundial<br />El diseño gráfico ha caído muchas veces en un concepto de frialdad. In 1994, The Cooper Union, Mr. Glaser’s alma mater, hosted the show in New York.<br />In 1992, an exhibition of drawings titled “The Imaginary Life of Claude Monet” opened at Nuages Gallery, Italy, and in 1995, an adapted version of this show was exhibited in Japan’s Creation Gallery. 1995 also brought a Glaser exhibition to the Art Institute of Boston.<br />In 1997, the Suntory Museum, Japan, mounted a major retrospective of The Pushpin Studios, featuring past and present works by Milton Glaser and other Pushpin artists.
