1. D.H. Bwala, Esq. MCIArb (UK) is a Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria and was called to the
English Bar as Barrister by the Honourable Society of Lincolns Inn in 2014. He has
earned his Master of Laws (LLM) in International Business Law from Coventry
University. He has worked with the Law Firm of J-K Gadzama & Partners LLP, one of the
leading Law Firms in Nigeria for five years, until 2013 when he left the firm to set up his
practice under the name and style of Bwala & Co. His passion lies in both Litigation and
Corporate Practice. He has had prior training in various subjects and Courses amongst
which are Public Administration with the University of Maiduguri; Conflict Analysis with
the United States Institute of Peace; Interfaith and Conflict Resolution; Negotiation and
Conflict Management, all with the United States Institute of Peace. In February 2006, he
participated in Client Counseling Competition both in Nigeria where he emerged the
best and the United Kingdom (UK), where he emerged second best in the world in April,
2006. In July 2008, he participated as an Observer/Shadow Judge at the International
Negotiation Competition (INC) University of Westminster, London, UK. Consequently, in
February 2009, he became Nigerian National representative to International
Negotiation Competition (INC) U.S.A. till date.
D.H. Bwala is a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); Member, English Bar
Council; Member, Honourable Society of the Lincoln’s Inn, London. Member,
International Bar Association (IBA), Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators,
UK, Member, London Court of International Arbitration, Member, British Nigeria Law
Forum; as well as a Member of the Section on Energy Law of the International Bar
Association (IBA). He has attended Conferences in Nigeria, United Kingdom, Spain and
the United States of America and undertook training on subjects like International Oil
and Gas Law; Trans-Border transactions; Energy, Environment, Natural Resources and
Infrastructure Law; Insolvency, Restructuring and Creditors Rights; and Public Private
Partnership (PPP) and Mediating Violent Conflicts respectively.
He has equally attended conferences and training on International Arbitration, with the
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London; Mediating Violent Conflicts in
Washington DC, USA, organized by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP); 2nd
Biennial War Crimes Conference organized by the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies,
University of London; Law London 2011 on Employment and Immigration Law,
organized by Solicitors Group, London.
He is a Council member of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and
Agriculture (ABUCCIMA). He is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Nigerian Law School, the
Institute training Bar Vocational Students to be called to the Nigerian Bar as Barristers
and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. As a Human Rights activist, author, a
resource Person, Negotiator, Mediator and trained Arbitrator, and adjunct lecturer, he
has articles and books Published to his credit. He is happily married to Dr. Diana Bwala,
a Veterinary Doctor and lecturer and they are proud parents of two children, Faith and
Ethan.
