Dan
Riedel
is
a
fine
arGst,
decoraGve
arGsan,
muralist
and
illustrator.
Riedel
discovered
his
arGsGc
talent
and
passion
early
in
life.
As
a
boy
both
of
his
grandfathers
had
a
profound
impact
on
his
life—one
a
painter,
wallpaper
hanger
and
the
other
a
printer—which
ulGmately
influenced
the
direcGon
of
his
work
later
in
life.
Ader
graduaGng
from
college,
Riedel
decided
to
pursue
his
art
full
Gme
while
studying
in
Munich,
Germany.
Returning
to
the
United
States
he
pursued
formal
art
training
at
the
Pennsylvania
Academy
of
the
Fine
Arts,
Philadelphia,
PA.
His
professional
art
career
began
as
an
illustrator.
Riedel
also
was
a
member
of
the
original
faculty
at
City
Center
Academy
in
Philadelphia,
where
he
taught
studio
and
art
history
classes.
At
the
same
Gme
he
started
The
Graphics
Guild,
a
printmaking
studio.
Riedel
is
also
a
published
book
illustrator:
And
God
Said
and
Surviving
College
Successfully.
Since
1981
he
has
also
worked
in
graphic
design
and
markeGng
communicaGons
as
a
designer,
director
and
consultant
for
numerous
companies
as
well
operaGng
his
own
firm.
His
creaGve
work
spanned
mulGple
media
in
those
roles.
In
2009
he
founded
Riedel
DecoraGve
Finishing
Company
merging
his
experience
and
talents
to
create
unique
arGsGc
expressions
on
the
surfaces
of
his
clients’
living
and
work
spaces.
Riedel’s
decoraGve
finishing—which
he
calls
his
surface
art—is
heavily
influenced
by
his
many
years
of
fine
art,
design
and
interior
painGng
work.
Current
work
encompasses
fine
art
commissions
and
independent
projects;
murals—both
tradiGonal
and
trompe
l’oeil
styles;
high-‐
end
decoraGve
finishing
including
marbleizing
and
wood
graining;
cabinetry
refinishing;
as
well
as
a
variety
of
architectural
coaGngs.
His
combined
skills
and
talents
enable
him
to
both
create
and
execute
designs
for
a
complete
living
or
work
space.
