Orlando Diaz-Azcuy has had a significant impact on interior design both as a principal at Gensler and Associates Architects from 1976 to 1987, where he designed landmark interiors like the Levi Strauss headquarters, and through his own design studio Orlando Diaz-Azcuy Designs, Inc. started in 1985. While at Gensler, he gained recognition for major corporate projects. In 1987, he transitioned to focusing solely on his own design firm, where he has produced interior design and furniture lines.

While with Gensler, the designer made a reputation with such landmark projects as the interiors for the Levi Strauss and Company headquarters in San Francisco and United Bank of Denver's headquarters in Denver.On July 1st, 1985, he opened his own design studio on a part-time basis, producing, among other things, a well-received line of furniture for Hickory Business Furniture.
