1. Save-a-MateYEAR 11 Nuriootpa High Health students
took part in a Red Cross program called
`Save-a-Mate'.
The campaign provides support to
young people and promotes health and
wellbeing through education on key
health issues.
Presenters from the Red Cross,
Chanelle and Damien spoke on first aid
for drug and alcohol emergencies and
the issues confronting young people
today and what to watch out for.
They also examined the long and short
term affects on the human body of both
alcohol and drugs. The class also took
part in a practical demonstration on how
to help a mate if they are affected.
"Students have developed essential
skills for keeping healthy and have really
enjoyed the variety of learning activities,"
said organising Year 11 Health teacher
Angela Travers.
"Thanks to school counsellor Karen
Barry who applied for and won a grant
from the Youth Barossa Small Grants
fund and her support of this program."
