Murphy's Low
Strikes Asain
Not only do we do the Markets on
Sunday, but we also cater for bus
trips, usually for morning tea.
That was the case during our mar-
kets of 22nd July. A very quickly
organised trip (by Jan & Wide Bay
Transport of Maryborough and
Hervey Bay) to the wineries of the
South Burnett, included us on
their adventures that day. Thanks
very much to the hardworking vol-
unteers for laying out a beautiful
morning tea of cakes, scones,
slices and other delights. There
was only positive comments about
the food.
Our President Dulcie, was sadly
missed by the group as she was
unable to make it down, due to in-
jury. Our secretary Dallas, filled in
for her on short notice. Thank-
fully there wasn't much to be
done as the food took centre stage.
Unfortunately our urn also decided to develop a major leak (it happens to the best of us
as we get older) on the day, and we had to struggle through with just a kettle. Thank-
fully the 23 adventurers were very patient, and took it all very much in their stride.
Whether that was a testament to the good food or the wonderful spirit of the group, it
hardly matters. For such a whistlestop visit, a good time was had by all.
There is an even better ending to this story as we got a nice surprise from Jan & Wide
Bay Transpoft a couple of weeks later, of a donation of an 8.8L Russel Hobbs urn! I just
want to take this chance to say "Thank you very much, you guys are officially leg-
ends!".
Come down and have a cuppa from our new urn down here at the Markets.
Where that tiny little kettle is, is supposed to be a big urn full of hot
water! But the bus trippers are being very good natured about it.

We haven't been able to find anyone to help us with the
further ploughing of our field to ready it for planting.
Thankyou very much to our plougher who has done the
preliminary work for us.
Our intrepid volunteer Dave though, has been
putting the hard yards in with our rotary hoe, a bit at a
time, so we can get our potatoes and other vegetables up and
growing. May take a bit longer, but slow and steady wins the race as
they say. Watch this space to find out what veggies we will ultimately
grow and when they are ready. Fresh Kilkivan vegetables, I can't
wait.
